Just HOW long are Tekton’s shipping delays just now? I ordered speakers on September 4th and haven’t even HEARD from Tekton since (much less received a shipping notice). I was quoted eight to 10 weeks, but nothing yet... Not even a “it’ll be just a bit longer” or “you’re close to the front of the line now” notice.

Anyone using tube amps with there tektons yet? If so how do you like the sound, warmth.? Looking to add a tube amp to my tektons and see if they really sound that much better or about the same. Right now using PA-1 monoblocks Maybe will try tube monoblocks. Bob latino M-125 monoblocks? Boom is the person to ask here as he has tried it. I'll be ordering some tube amps soon. Don’t use too many watts - my 12-watt Heathkits sounded better with my Pendragons than did my big M-125 monos! And, yes, with the RIGHT tube amp, my Tektons sounded not just better, but MUCH better with tubes. YMMV

I ordered a pair of Maggies in early July and still haven't received shipping notice. They tell you to check your credit card to see if it has been charged, as notification that the order is ready and will be shipping. Tekton is probably a smaller or maybe even smaller company than Magnepan so I would assume they don't have any department that keeps people up to date on the status of their order because doing so would eat into their manufacturing resources. Have you tried contacting them to get an update?

This pandemic has put so much behind schedule, and messed up so many things, but has been good for business with certain markets.

Boom - What ever they told u,double it,,I just finally got a call about my center channel on fri from tekton, said they will be shipping my center in 7-10 days,,but I have been waiting 6 mo!! Took almost 3 months for my mains,,after calling and bugging they once a week. Did nagging them help? If not, why bother... Yeah - I'm sure the delay is Covid related. Bring on the vaccine! If I haven't heard from Tekton by Thanksgiving, I'll call them shortly thereafter for an update. The only reason I'm concerned is that I have a manufacturer's power amplifier on the shelf here that I'm waiting to write a review update on after the Tektons arrive. So I'm holding the poor manufacturer's power amplifier hostage until the Tekton folks deliver & I don't like being in the middle... Maybe I should have told Tekton that I'm a reviewer & asked for expedited delivery, but I really hate to think that I was the cause of someone else's order being delayed, so I didn't. It'll come when it comes, but I'd just like to be kept in the loop. I'm sure Tekton is doing their best. I did send an apology to the amplifier manufacturer explaining why I haven't returned their amp yet. Their reply was very gracious, so maybe it isn't an issue. I still don't like being in the middle. I've bought speakers 5 separate times from Eric, never once received an update unless I called him. Dime to a dollar says that hasn't changed.

Double Impacts - No SE edition - No upgrades - No grills - No custom colors - just the base model. If I'm not wowed, I'll pony up the shipping & return them - and I'm expecting great things!
Why the penury? Two reasons - Last time I ordered Pendragons, Erick advised me over the phone that he thought the upgrades really weren't worth the $$$. Also, due to Covid 19, my income has dropped to about $6K for this entire year (and my wife is frugal).
'Tis what it is.

I went ahead and emailed them - this is their reply:
"Thank you for your email. I am so sorry it has been a little longer than we anticipated. The pandemic has us in a pinch. We are having a hard time getting our drivers for the speakers in. As soon as we get our shipment, we will get them assembled and out to you. Thank you for your patience and support. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Thanks again"

The shipping companies are trying hard, because the rate on 40ft containers coming from China is 4000.00 per Teu,which is about triple what it was this time last yr. There not even taking much exports from the US or other countries as the rate s only around 500 per Teu, like I said it was a long wait when i ordered in march,,but I am sure by now its much worse.wish there was some good news.

Thanks, guys - I guess we can't blame Tekton...
But this brings up additional questions:
With any supply chain interruption, there are usually simultaneous quality-control issues. If I wait until the shippers start flowing again, will my drivers have sat in a high-humidity, salt-corrosive environment on a ship for months before they get to Tekton?
If so, will that affect long-term reliability and/or performance-quality control?
Once shipping becomes feasible again, will the Chinese factories be able to re-hire the skilled employees needed to make quality drivers, or will volatility in personnel affect the quality control of drivers being shipped?
Once drivers DO start arriving at Tekton again, will Tekton (who have months, if not years of back-orders) do as thorough a test on the drivers before rushing finished products out their doors?
Should I consider cancelling my Tekton order and buying alternate speakers, instead, on the used market?
That last question is the biggest one. If I DO decide to buy used, then what, exactly?

Im pretty sure that Eric is flying parts from suppliers but probably they are going to the most expensive speakers or big orders.

Since Tekton can't even predict an availability date, I think I'll cancel the order if there's no penalty. Such is life.

I am not aware that Tekton Design uses speakers from China. I realize that China may of been used as an example but if so someone might want to verify the origins of the Double Impact drivers. My Ulfberhts are built w/ drivers from Eminence [American woofers], Scanspeak [Denmark tweeters] and the midbass from an unknown Italian manufacturer. And from what I've been told Tekton Design tests each speaker sent to them. Eric allegedly matches the drivers against his standard and those that are outside the desired quality are tossed. I think testing for quality control would be a necessity w/ the MTM array especially if one speaker was placed in the crossover network that was dead on arrival. The costs of shipping back and forth under warranty could be drastically reduced if simple measures were taken to ensure quality control. As far as used market dunno. You'll have to decide, Boom, whether used and picking up the shipping costs is worthwhile in contrast w/ new including shipping. Unless I was desperate for the money as a Tekton owner the difficulty in acquiring the product [given that Tekton is desirable] at this time would make me firmer on the price. Generally speaking, desirability and lack of availability works on behalf of the seller driving up used prices.

Not just the china markets,,its shipping worldwide, and shipping companies are not waiting on containers from the European ports as well, shipping companies are leaving loaded containers at shippers in European markets,,to get containers from Chinese market,,they get triple the cost per container, so they go were the money is

Tekton wants a 15 percent cancellation fee, so I’m just stuck waiting unless I want to throw away $450 on a delay that’s Tekton’s fault. Not a happy camper...
