PS I also plan to connect my RaspPi/Roon End Point to the USB DAC input to test that as well. I’m interested to hear how the XMC-2 DAC works with your Raspberry Pi/Roon Endpoint. I have two Roon Pi’s in our household, one with its own HiFiBerry hat and one USB connected to an old Meridian DAC; they both work great. Each will play files up to 24 bit 192 KHz. I think Roon is a wonderful thing. Roon combined with Tidal has expanded my audio library nearly to infinity. Being able to create a hi quality iPhone app controlled Roon Endpoint for under 50 bucks using a tiny little Raspberry Pi is just the coolest thing. I wonder if Emotiva would ever consider adding MQA capability to the DAC’s in their processors? One other “nice to have” on the XMC-2, or the RMC-1, would be a 7.1 analog input. I prefer playing my surround SACD/DVD-audio disc collection in analog bypass mode. From reading the RMC-1 thread however it sounds like 7.1 just isn’t a good fit with the architecture of the latest pre-pro’s. I noticed the Monoprice HTP-1 does not offer a 7.1 analog input either. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get my Pi to work with the USB-B input on the XMC-2. The XMC-2 did show up in Roon and I was able to enable it however I wasn't able to get that zone to play any audio. I am guessing that USB input might only work with Windows?

I wonder if it is defective. I have 2 of them. One I just got like 3 months ago. I’ll swap em and see if there is a difference Good luck! 🤞 It was the HDMI cables. Now my Apple TV 4K works perfectly and can display a very stable Dolby Vision. Picture looks better than ever. The only thing to work out is ARC. The LG OLED have notoriously been buggy with ARC so I’m not too optimistic but she will see.

Hey Kemac, I'm surprised the USB input doesn't doesn't work with the Raspberry Pi. I don't want to hijack this thread but just out of curiosity, what OS are you using on your Pi? I have had great success with RoPieee. There is much info and help for Raspberry Pi's over on the Roon forum. Then again I suspect you already know that.

Hi John54, There is a Ropieee thread here as well. The second post in that thread I describe my two RaspPi's. For now I am testing with my DietPI image. (Raspbian-Stretch) I was just reading in the manual that the DAC input defaults to a class 1 device. I am going to change it to a class 2 device and I'll bet that will fix that issue. I'll report back soon.

The ARC from my LG C7 to the XMC2 just gets a static sound.
This part is kind of disappointing because I really like to use LG’s apps. It mostly worked fine with my Sony receiver.
Not a total loss but it sure would be nice to stream Netflix with Atmos right to the XMC2.
I’ll give Emotiva a call Monday morning to see if they can help.

I use the XMC-1's USB port with MacOS (with it's built in drivers), I think I heard someone had also used it with Linux, but that's been a while. Edit: Does the PI support UAC1 or 2?

The Apple TV4K can do Netflix with Atmos, I know you were having trouble with ATV, but you should be able to get that fixed and it would be more reliable that ARC. Edit: I now notice above you got ATV working, why not try Netflix/Atmos from here?

The PI supports UAC2, I found the setting under advance settings on the XMC to change the USB input to UAC2 and its working fine now! I'll give ARC a try with my Vizio to see if that works with my display.

A plea to Emotiva. Please allow volume up/down to accept a mass market IR code. Reason - I’d love to control the volume from my DirecTV remote, but they don’t support Emotiva,s current devices. Allowing, for example, a Sony volume IR code pair would solve this problem

I too own an LG C8 Cables are always finicky, especially with 4K Glad your up and running and enjoying your gear!

I've found ARC generally to be not ready for prime time. Hopefully the latest iterations are better.

I will certainly be testing, this coming week, if ARC between my LG C8 and RMC-1 play nicely, but I won't be betting the house on it working!

I can’t fast forward accurately which is why I try to avoid using ATV when I can use LG’s apps. But since it’s reliable now and gives me no issues, I’ll probably just stick with it.

ATV has one of the worst remotes that apple has ever designed.

I use my cable box for TV, ATV is Direct to RMC-1. Same as Oppo 203. I have used Optical before but I just don’t need it.
