Really looking forward to this but been hearing a lot about Emotive pros being glitchy ?!? There were issues in early firmware but we are very happy with the latest code that comes in the unit. All the processors run very solid now. GOOD, My only next option was $8k Canadian

Does the XMC-2 still show the large logos in the OLED display when Dolby True HD and such are being decoded? I always liked that little added touch on the XMC-1 when watching Blu-ray movies.

I’ve never had any problem with ATV 4K. Do you have a defective unit? Is it up to date? What can we do to help? I wonder if it is defective. I have 2 of them. One I just got like 3 months ago. I’ll swap em and see if there is a difference Good luck! 🤞

I don't know what the XMC-1 looks like however there is a picture on the main Emo website with a picture of a True-HD/Atmos signal being processed on the XMC-2. I figured that looks better than me taking a photo, plus I am lazy.

Now that it looks like Emotiva finally has the platform 95%+ stabilized I am once again considering their processors. I was going to get the RMC-1 but after it was constantly delayed I chose a Denon 8500H and 6200W for my theater. Looks like it was the right choice at the time since it has taken a year from the delayed launch to get the RMC-1 about where it should have been on day #1. Anyway, instead of the RMC-1 I am now thinking the XMC-2 or possibly the RMC-1L. Either of those should satisfy my wants and needs (9.x.6) and Dirac will be a bonus. I will use Emotiva amps to power everything; XPA-2 for the mains (3 HT-12's), and (2) A-700's for the surrounds (14 RSL C34E's). Any known connectivity issues to a JVC RS540 projector? Anyone see a flaw in this plan? I have the XMC-2 and will hook it up tomorrow to a JVC 540, along with other equipment of course. I'll report back tomorrow night or Sunday depending how well it goes...

A through professional review/comparison between the new XMC-2 and the upcoming Monoprice HTP-1-16 will make for some very interesting reading. In comparing the backside of both processors, it looks as though the XMC-2 has a few features not included on the Monoprice. Specifically, the XMC-2 has: • One balanced (XLR) input • One additional HDMI input • One additional non-balanced analog stereo input • AM/FM Tuners • OSD Menu and Volume display The plus side for the HTP-1 includes: • Roon Endpoint • Stated support for up to 5 subwoofers (Not sure if this is a meaningful difference) • Wi-Fi with Google Chromecast If I understand correctly, the HTP-1 will not include an OSD but rather will be IR remote and/or app controlled. For me, not having an OSD Volume indicator would be a negative. Given the XMC-2 is a grand less expensive than the HTP-1, it looks like Monoprice is in for some stiff competition from Emotiva. What am I missing? The HTP-1 has Auro-3D. In the original press release it was also listed as a feature in the RMC-1 but has since been dropped.

It say DTS-MA 7.1 for Edge of Tomorrow. Sounds great but it was a little weird that the surround sound mode went to DTS Neural with no sound output. After a little bit it went to the right DTS mode.

It's interesting that I only see Auro-3D in the product title, but not in the specs / features. It also says it has setup via phone or tablet. Another big difference for some, there's no Zone 2 output on the HTP-1.

I tried two titles with DTS-MA audio and I get no sound, anyone else? If I switch the audio track to AC3 for the same movie I get sound.
I need to do some more testing to confirm but the issues seems to be specific to my source device, an EGreat A10. (Which was working fine with my Denon 4300)
Confirmed: compatibility issue between XMC-2 and EGreat. The same titles have DTS-MA audio from my Oppo 203.

Over on avf someone asked this question? hi - there's quite a bit of chatter on the forums that Emotiva wire up their XLRs differently. Is this an issue - can I use any power amp with this pre-pro. I would like a choice of balanced power amps for the LCR and retain my M25 for the surround/atmos channels.
Any thoughts?

This is true for amps only. Preamps are wired to US standard. Amps are wired opposite polarity. So if you have all Emotiva amps it's no issue. If you have a mix, you have to reverse one set or the other. Of course, always good to do an audible test to ensure speakers are in phase.

All of Emotiva’s preamplifiers and processors are wired according to the adopted EIA XLR standard (pin 2 hot). It’s only the outputs of their power amplifiers that are reversed (pin 3 hot). You will be just fine using the XMC-2 with any power amp of your choice that follows the same EIA standard (which is likely everyone except Emotiva)...

Also how to deal with a mix of component brands.

PS I also plan to connect my RaspPi/Roon End Point to the USB DAC input to test that as well. I’m interested to hear how the XMC-2 DAC works with your Raspberry Pi/Roon Endpoint. I have two Roon Pi’s in our household, one with its own HiFiBerry hat and one USB connected to an old Meridian DAC; they both work great. Each will play files up to 24 bit 192 KHz. I think Roon is a wonderful thing. Roon combined with Tidal has expanded my audio library nearly to infinity. Being able to create a hi quality iPhone app controlled Roon Endpoint for under 50 bucks using a tiny little Raspberry Pi is just the coolest thing. I wonder if Emotiva would ever consider adding MQA capability to the DAC’s in their processors? One other “nice to have” on the XMC-2, or the RMC-1, would be a 7.1 analog input. I prefer playing my surround SACD/DVD-audio disc collection in analog bypass mode. From reading the RMC-1 thread however it sounds like 7.1 just isn’t a good fit with the architecture of the latest pre-pro’s. I noticed the Monoprice HTP-1 does not offer a 7.1 analog input either.

I must say while the 4K issue with Apple TV 4K and hdmi cables was a little annoying, the performance of the XMC2 is exactly why people complain and moan about Emotiva taking too long etc etc. Because in a world with choices, why wait for something when you can buy another product?
The XMC2 sounds sooooo freaking good it’s worth every penny and then some. Every minute detail is heard, the dynamics in movies is more immediate than anything I’ve heard south of the uber expensive systems. Only thing missing is a 2nd sub or 2 new subs to really take that bass to the next level. It’s still very very good though.
My Revel F208/C208 never sounded so good. Previously, I kept thinking I need to get to the Salons or Studio to get that beryllium tweeter smoothness. But with the XMC2, music sounds sooo smooth and clear and dynamic, I am very satisfied with my speakers now.
Yes the hdmi switching isn’t as fast as video switching back when we had analog video and the on screen menu is a little sluggish - I would rather have an app based configuration. But none of this really takes away from the pure performance satisfaction you get with the XMC2.
And we still don’t have Dirac! Can’t wait to see how it sounds when it’s all dialed in with Dirac.
Meanwhile, I’m so glad Emotiva didn’t wait until Dirac was finished. I can enjoy my system now instead of waiting some more. Thanks!
