What I like about Roon R.O.C.K. on a NUC.
The NUC was easy to assemble. R.O.C.K. installed quickly and easily. It is extremely small. It just works.
Now I have a dedicated device that I overspecified (Nuc8i5) and should last a long time. If I need more storage I can always add an external drive (SSD or rotating).

I'm an annoying broken record but Roon R.O.C.K. on a NUC is truly "set it and forget it"
I consider it an appliance that never needs attention.

My first foray into an audio server was a fanless atom pc with a 500GB drive, Windows 7 Pro and J River (also had a fancy sound card for digital output). It was the current recommendation at Computer Audiophile (basically). Think he called it his CAPS server. What a friggin nightmare administering windows was headless. Several times I have to drag it out and over to another place to fix it. Then it lost the sound card on one update and I could never get it back. Then I tried Daphile and Vortexbox with various levels of success although they were squeezeserver based and I decided that I hated squeezeserver.
It only been a couple weeks, but ROCK/NUC has been a very pleasant experience.
(Boomzilla- what I'm trying to say here is make it as simple as possible. I've followed your threads for many years now and seen you suffer through many computer based problems (itunes, jriver, wav, flac, etc) there is a blueprint for ease of use here)

What is "play internet radio between selections" and where is this function located? I just went to Roon and discovered this tab that I do not recall seeing before. Perhaps this is the 'Internet Radio' Boom is referring to? Has anyone else noticed this tab before? Or have I just missed it? I’ve been using this option for as long as I’ve used Roon, almost a year now. We discussed it here on the forum back then. Type in the URL and your good to go. Not all stations support on line streaming but many do. Poke around, its fun.

And by the way, there is no "play internet radio between selections" in Roon. Boom just misspoke.

And by the way, there is no "play internet radio between selections" in Roon. Boom just misspoke. Correct but you can have Roon play similar music after your selection has ended. I really like that option, I’ve found many good artists that way!

Roon Radio is an awesome way to rediscover music you probably forgot about.
Boom- you buy the NUC hardware of your choice including memory and drives and I'll build it for you and install R.O.C.K. I'll even load the optional codecs in case you have any AAC files.
