I find this hard to believe, Are you sure it's not just a residual state of cloudiness ?? Glad you found something that works well for you. Cheers bud and happy listening.....Cough cough.. Which part? I have been trying to give the XMC-2 every possible chance. I would prefer to keep the XMC-2. It looks nicer. Its half the price. And I wouldn't lose all the money I stand lose by returning it(I traded in a receiver for $400 off, I lose $200 in finance charges, and I lose out on whatever it costs to ship it back) Keeping it would effectively cost me about $1900 which is in effect $1000 off its retail price. And I still cannot make it happen with all the problems and sound quality is the biggest decider now. I want to add that the 860 also has Dirac but I haven't run it yet. Apologies. I figured the winky face would convey that I was being facetious. I'd really like to give an arcam unit a try one of these days.

I have run into another issue that affects firmware 1.5. When using Directv and with the amp on or off (video on standby), sometimes when I switch channels, the audio is gone. To get it back I can sometimes switch channels again, or what really works is switching between speaker presets. This does not always happen, but it is not infrequent. Same here. Had not tried switching speaker presets, thanks for posting that!

My XMC-2 will not work with my Samsung 8K TV. If I plug in my 4K Bluray player and Apple 4K TV directly into the TV they work just fine. The good folks at Emotiva had me try everything under the sun to try and get this to work. They finally came to the conclusion that the processor is bad and said they are going to exchange it. That was 4 days ago. I hope I can have the new processor before Xmas arrives. It would be nice if I get a chance to use my media room sooner rather than later.

I think it takes them a few days to assemble one and test it. I would call and ask for a status.

The audio seems louder. I haven’t played with discs much yet.

However, I will be patient for the time being. I am hoping that their testing would include one of the new Samsung 8K tv's. As of the December 5, they had never tested it with this tv.

This is what I'm hoping for with my XPA-1, that they get it fixed and out to me so I can receive it by Christmas. But, the email I got this morning said 'We are experiencing higher than normal repair times'. Good luck with your wait.

And 1 more point for the experience. Claim that one of the units arrived back damaged. Scratching that could have no way happened in my shelf set up. F me for buying anything from this place.

Interest paid on purchase and extended waiting period on return. I traded in an old unit which knocks $400 off but you dont get that money back nor the item. Shipping that unit cost money. And now suddenly the unit looks like a bobcat mauled it when they got it in, despite it sitting on a shelf by itself with nothing touching either side. Take off $100+ on the refund for that.

So you paid $2600 plus old unit plus the cost of return shipping. But instead of getting $2600 back, because the unit was damaged during shipping (or after it left your hands), your refund was reduced? Did you insure the unit by any chance? Its real bummer - looks like you didn’t escape this unscathed unfortunately.

There's interest charges I wont get back as well for putting half of it on payments with Affirm. Which isnt completely Emotivas fault I suppose. Though it would have been easier to accept the finance charges if the thing worked properly.

I think the lesson learned here is that as tempting as something is, it may be better to wait and let other “trailblazers” lead the way. For example my buddy is not planning on ordering the XMC2 until Dirac is ready. I was an early adopter because I had sold my XMC1 a year ago and didn’t have processor plus I have the 25% UFL.

Is anyone losing audio after changing channels. It started when I was changing inputs, now it's happening every time I change channels. I have to completely reboot the unit.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this was also an issue on the XMC-1, at least in the beginning. I remember it because it was among about 5 reason why I didn't get an XMC-1. I find this issue to be more than "annoying." I say it's completely unacceptable, to me at least. It still is an issue with the XMC-1, at least the original one (no HW upgrades whatsoever, only firmware updates). Emotiva said they could not solve this problem, because they have no access to this part of the code. I agree with you, it is more than annoying. I could say, I hate it. My personal solution therefor was to buy a XDA-2 G2 and connect it analog (XLR) to the XMC-1. I would have only 2 reasons to buy a XMC-2. First and foremost to get rid of this problem. Second would be to get a new system/new warranty. This problem will keep me from buying a XMC-2. I really would like to buy one, but not when this problem is still there.
[Regarding problems of the XMC-1 with gapless playing.] In case someone is reading this older input from me, I wanted to give an update:
I'm using the XMC-2 now for about 4 weeks (Firmware 1.9). I am still feeding my audio (music) from my server via Sonos Connect (SPDIF Coax connected) or most of the times via Raspberry Pi/Squeezebox (SPDIF Coax connected).
And sometimes via Oppo 103 (HDMI connected), when playing DVD-A. I did not play CDs with the XMC-1 anymore and I'm not doing it with the XMC-2 as I have everything on my server and like the convenience.
With the XMC-1 I had with most albums (most, but not all) a low clicking noise between songs (both with Sonos and Raspberry Pi). After 4 weeks I'd say this problem is gone with the XMC-2. As it seems, completely gone when playing within one album. I'm very happy about this.
Problems I have with the XMC-2:
I experience sometimes a (different than the above mentioned) clicking noise between songs when playing music randomly (different albums, 24bit/16bit etc). Sometimes, not always. And that is not even 100% reproducible.
I too notice a sound gap at the beginning of an album (first song only) or movie.
But, for me, these are minor problems when compared to the XMC-1 problem. That annoyed the hell out of me.
(I wouldn't mind though, if they could be solved.)

I'm not sure about when changing inputs in general. And I don't loose the sound entirely.
It's somehow different:
I noticed, when fumbling around in the Setup EQ section (maybe other Setup sections, too), afterwards the audio sounds frequently (but not always) strange. The instruments are mainly as prominent to hear as I am used to, but the vocals are way too low in the background.
They are still there, but it sounds very, very strange.
I then have to reboot the unit and then everything sounds right again.
I experience the same problem, when I saw a movie via my second Raspbery Pi (Kodi, HDMI connected, movie usage only). When then I (next day) want to hear audio/music, I have again this very strange sound. I'm not sure yet if this is always the case, but it happens at least frequently.
So I reboot the unit and afterwards audio/music sounds right again.
