Well maybe adulterated video if the scaler is "that good" Woo-hoo! Another reason to want the UMC-1. Adulterated video! What? Adulterated: To make impure by adding extraneous, improper, or inferior ingredients.

Wow! Did you see the news page? emotiva.com/news.shtmIt looks like we still have a long wait ahead. To make this kind of statement at this time to me, means that no one has a clue on timing and that there are still bugs that they're working out. Too bad! Hope you guys can fix them soon! I almost purchased an Onkyo PR-SC886 a couple of weeks ago but instead bought some rear ML speakers. Then my main L/R amp took a dump and I decided not to fix it so I purchased an XPA-3 which I just received yesterday. So far it's starting to sound very nice. Hopefully it will keep opening up more as it breaks in but I think I'll really like it. All that to say I've blown my wad except for the exact amount sitting aside waiting for the UMC-1. If I see another sale on the 886 for less then $900 I'm grabbing it this time. Should have done that months ago!

Reads to me like after the HDMI bug crept up, they are just doing due diligence with bug checking. They took a lot of heat for problems with the LMC-1 after it was released, and I'm sure they don't want to go through that again. I sure don't. It would be nice to see a manual to get an idea of the features and how they will work.

Quaterly updates for the past year that all say the same thing are becoming pointless. When did the words "very close" and "very soon" quit having any meaning? When I bought the shoponkyo 885 for the same price as the UMC will ( eventually ) cost, I was worried to death that the UMC was "very close" and I'd have a tough decision to make. Turns out buying the 885 was the best decision I could have made. The longer the wait for the UMC the less interested I am in doing back t back comparisons. Anyone interested in my pre-order spot?

Preorder spots are not given away or sold. If someone drops if, it simply becomes a shorter list. No one at Emotiva is upset or angry at anyone who chooses to buy something else. Being on the preorder list is not binding in a monetary way, so the freedom to go elsewhere is an option for anyone tired of waiting. We're doing our best to tell you what's going on without making any time promises. It's true that it's close. A green light from the company doing the testing could come Monday, or not... When it comes, our response will be quite agressive, as far as unit production. As far as the continued wait goes, the same is true of many or indeed, most of our competitors, who simply chose not to discuss it at all. Policiy forbids me from pointing out a very current example of this. There are processors with upcoming release dates out there by some 'high end' companies that will undoubtedly be delayed as well...and they won't apologize, they'll just say it's delayed.

Sincerely appreciate the update from Dan L! Maybe I read it incorrectly but it sounded like there were still bugs to be fixed and testing to be done. If it’s just the testing being done and you’re just waiting for the green light (of course hoping there aren’t any problems found) then maybe we’ll still see it in a month. I sure hope so and I do thank you guys for the update!

As I have said before, I am not upset by the delay, only the lack of information. Thanks for the update. Even though there wasn't much new, it was good to hear something. Thanks Ray

Thanks for the info Dan. Now I'm on my way down stairs to do some listening to the XPA-3 that I hooked up yesterday. It's been burning since 2:00 pm yesterday and it was sounding pretty good last night in 5.1. Now to do some stereo listening with some CD's. So far it was sounding very smooth and clean. Hoping it starts really opening up on soundstage and detail today! So far I really like what I'm hearing. Especially for $699!
PS. I appreciated the double boxing and fast low priced shipping! You guys are doing great! I just really, really, really want my UMC-1!!! Really!

It would be sweet of you to go over to the Onkyo Forum and let them know how you feel. Oh whoops, I forgot, they don't have a forum. Too bad. I'd like to go there and ask why they have so many refurbished units for sale. ;D

The mention of the 885 was unfair and I'd delete that part of the post if it hadn't been quoted twice now. For the record not all of the "refurbs" were actually refurbs. But that is entirely beside the point and doesn't make the rest of the post any less pertinent.
I want(ed) a UMC for a lot of reasons. Some of those reasons are still true and I may very well buy one, out of curiosity if nothing else. I'm a fan of what Emo is trying to accomplish, I'm just not a fan of having smoke blown up my &%$. My issue is the "updates" that have zero information. I think telling us every three months that they are "really colse" and that the UMC will be sold "really soon" borders on being dishonest. (I stress the word border because I just know the fan-boys will accuse me of calling them liars. I am not.) I'd rather be told nothing than to be strung along. I dont care how delayed the UMC-1 is, I really don't. The length of the delay is entirely beside the point.

We are telling what we can...how many times can you say, 'it's being tested?' It's the truth. If you feel misled by that...well, ok. Hope you find something that makes you happy. And no one is stringing you along...if you want to buy something else...ok. Do it. No one is begging you to hang around. We appreciate anyone who is loyal, sure. Of course we do. But if you are faulting us for giving updates/not giving updates/talking/not talking... I can't help you. We are doing our best to put out a kickass product that has redefined what 'testing' means, and has redefined what HD means. It's not a small deal. It's a big deal, and is being treated as such.

Dann G, and the rest of the Emotiva staff, I gotta tell you, I have no idea how you keep your sanity! No disrespect to any forum members in particular because there have been MANY, but every time I read one of these griping/moaning/threats-to-go-elsewhere/crying posts I just feel embarassed for the rest of us. Even if you guys merely posted the date and the words: "UMC-1 delayed" - even if you did that once in an entire year you would be giving us more information that 99% of electronics companies out there....so in short: Thank you to Emotiva and keep up the good work. I think it's obsurd to claim that not enough information is being given. I just felt compelled to say that. Have a great day!!

Damned if you do..... Damned if you don't............
Quite the conundrum!
Denon, Klipsch, Magnepan, Toshiba, Panasonic, Oppo, Polk, and SVS never invited me to a party they were hosting for customers.
The marketplace is big. The Emo niche is comfy.
I'm good. ;D
