I would say many of us knew the possibilities when we got on the pre-order list..Yes..we were hopeful and excited at the prospect of having a new processor in our hands within a short period..BUT..after the first of several set backs and delays with the unit..many had to decide if waiting was going to be an option..Some elected to hold out then as now..others didn't. At all points of this saga..the folks at Emotiva keep us in the loop...at all points along the way..the decision to wait on the unit was up to the individual..
Some here.. have in voicing their frustration.. have forgotten that in most of these delays..those waiting on the UMC-XMC..are not alone..many other companies are having to tell their customers the same thing..companies like Outlaw..Sheerwood and others all waiting on the new Torrino chipset..
I like many here was waiting patiently for it to come out..but..as an adult who usually tries to think things thru..based my decision to opt out of waiting any longer on my immediate needs on the likelihood of additional delays forced onto the company by their vendor..o with additional problems that might cop up..
For those who are upset, angry, resentful over this delay,I have to ask why you didn't think it thru more.No one has taken a dime from you for a product still in production...and it has always been your decision to wait..If you blame the company and say things like vaporwre..or they strung us along..I honestly feel you are looking to put the blame on them instead of where it really belongs, which is on your own shoulders..
We are all adults..or at least supposed to be..being upset is ok..as long as you acknowledge your as much at fault here as anyone else..
We all want to have one of the new processors..or at least most of us do..and we are all anxious to see them sold routinely...just know we Emotiva fans aren't alone in this..and that others waiting for their company of choice are waiting as well..
Needless complaining isn't discussing the issue of what's causing the hold up..It serves no purpose other than to let folks vent..and causes more issues than it should..It's not constuctive critisisim..so it isn't.. benificial to the company..It might make a few feel good..but is usually detramental to the group at large in a number of ways..
Mac
You don't always get what you want..but if you try sometime you'll get what you need..

So I'm waiting, and I'm fine with the delay. But Mac's post got me thinking about the delay. So during the webcast (I think) it was mentioned that the delay was because of a handshaking issue. So they had to replace the suspect chip. So is this second delay (in the news section) handshaking issues with the second chip, or something else? I'm glad Emotiva is taking the time to get this sorted out before shipping, really I'm just curious. If no one from Emotiva wants to say I'm fine with that also. So what do you guys think? Same problem, or different one that showed it's head after the latest fix? *Edit...Happy B-Day Steve, and don't forget the lube!!! ;D ;D

Time is not important, only life is important
I got to thinking about the fact that I have a nice lmc-1 driving my upa-7 system and it sounds pretty darn good. I have an edge video processor and will probably not use the video processor.
I would much prefer that this processor hits the docs without problems! I can wait.

So what do you guys think? Same problem, or different one that showed it's head after the latest fix? My bet would be a new issue cropped up.

My guess is this latest delay was caused by fixing the handshake chip set problem. Often, fixing one problem causes another. I suspect that the Silicon Imaging Chip Set (that fixed the handshake problem) had a slight compatibility issue with the board components or tracings. Once this minor issue is resolved, it should be smooth sailing from there on in.
In all likelyhood, this will be a short delay and will not cause any significant delay. That is my read on this fix.

I wanted to remind people that the 'preorder list' is a waiting list, not an exhange of funds of any kind. No one has put money on a UMC and been left waiting. And I don't think anyone has suggested anything to the contrary. So, what's your point here?

I'd rather have customers holding a place in their home theater rack for a new product and complaining about the delay than having that same customer buy something else since they didn't know a new product was coming. If a few critical comments are enough to make Emo completely reconsider their information release strategy...... Don't feel bad for Emotiva. They've got a ton of people waiting months on end for a product they've never seen or heard, with money in hand. For that kind of luxury, some negative comments on an online forum seem fairly reasonable, and something I'd gladly take with a smile if I were them. Exactly. I believe Emotiva chose to share info about a product in development and offer availability timelines because it helped their bottom line... not because they get some warm fuzzy feeling from being open with us.

LOL they did not intentionally mislead anyone! YOU added the word "intentionally." I don't think anyone has accused Emotiva of doing this intentionally. Just because they may not meant to do it, doesn't mean that I might not feel misled or strung along. Stop creating unmet expectations by giving timelines. How dare you feel kinda pissed bigred! Those feelings are not allowed (or at least not allowed to be expressed here.) As noted earlier, their has been waaaaaay more debate and argument about whether's it's okay to complain than actual complaining in this and many other threads. Most of us are here to discuss Emotiva products. There is a newly announced delay. How could you possibly expect that folks wouldn't discuss their feelings on the delay along with ruminating about its cause?? In my opinion, the dead horse is this debate about whether or not its okay to say you are frustrated/disappointed/angry about the delay.

While I took a snooze after work today, I had a tremuolous dream. I was sitting in the middle of the most awsome home theater/ audio room you have ever seen in your life. It was kind of dark but for this beautiful blue light in the slightly lit room. It was SO absolutley quiet all I could here was the blood pumping through my ears. Then I heard a voice, not coming from the speakers, but like inside my head. It said " get ready, this thing is coming soon, get rid of the inferior equipment and make room for the most awsome piece of stereo eqiupment you have ever heard" I think it was like THE Emotiva god or something. Anyway, after I woke up I put my Yamaha stuff up for sale so if anyones interested, hop over to the emporium

It's not an uncommon practice in the AV world, man. No unpleasantness intended. [/quote]
