By the way is there a remote App for the XMC-2 available from the App Store? Currently it’s the XMC-1 App, it works for the new processors as well, so yes.

Is this the basic dirac live or is it dirac live full version with the ability to use dirac live app on Android or ios? Ver. 2.0

Is this the basic dirac live or is it dirac live full version with the ability to use dirac live app on Android or ios? Ver. 2.0 What is the reason to use a Cell Phone or Tablet? Where would you connect the USB Mic for proper measuring? I would use it on a PC/Notebook with the USB Mic attached.
Version might be Dirac Live Full, but not really sure.

Is this the basic dirac live or is it dirac live full version with the ability to use dirac live app on Android or ios? Ver. 2.0 I assume that when you say "basic dirac live" you probably mean the original Dirac LE version for the XMC-1? The new Dirac Live will not be a similar crippled version like LE was. My understanding is that Dirac will have one Full version for all processors, plus optional addons. Dirac had some info on their web site a 5-6 months back saying what will be available, but that info wasn't there a couple weeks ago. It would be nice if they could at least post a manual for what is being released soon. All I've seen is for the version that's been around for the last couple years, plus the Full Upgrade version for XMC-1 still available for purchase. Regarding mobile, everything I saw that uses a mobile app is aimed at non-HT usage, portable speakers etc. The site is not easy to locate information so if you know where info is for a mobile app for home theater, please share.

I was talking today to a reseller about Dirac. He told me, that it will be available in September (this year?). Could someone from Emotiva clarify this please.

Up until last Thursday I had a loan of a 24 Channel Storm ISP MK2 in my system, it has DIRAC Live with the Bass Control Module for multiple subwoofers. There's plenty of AVR's and Processors out there with the full DIRAC suit, the problem for Emotiva has been integrating it with their particular DSP programming in the MC's. Lonnie spoke of 45 days of testing required about a month ago, so I doubt that September has any basis. If you want a definitive answer, pick up the phone and call Emotiva, posting on here won't achieve the same result. Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary Since Dirac's web site has been a bit schizophrenic since late last year, lots of info last summer - then those pages disappeared, it's difficult to establish that all of us are speaking about "the same thing". Storm says this on their web site about this product: "including the latest Dirac Live Bass Control module", and I don't doubt that it is the latest available. Dirac speaks about this Bass Control (not Bass Management) on their web site and that it'll be available in April. But, I can't believe that this is the Dirac Live Bass Management (specifically named as such on the page asking for beta testers) which is still in beta and due later this year. So I don't know what the heck is going on with what Dirac is offering. They need to clarify. Today I saw that they are proud to have gotten $6,000,000 in financing. It's now the lead story on their home page headlines. Maybe this will allow them to get the web site better organisized. (misspelled on purpose)

I have an iPad Pro 11 with a USB-C port and a UMIK-1 mic that can connect directly, so theoretically I could run the Dirac measurement software on the iPad. However, I wouldn’t expect Dirac to spend the time to port the app to iPadOS.

The 24 Channel ISP MK2 I had on loan (it is destined for a 22 seater commercial demonstration theatre) was tagged as having installed what Storm call the “DIRAC Live Bass Control Module“. A quick look inside revealed it as a separate plug in board. That’s the limit of my knowledge, the theatre upgrade will be finished shortly and I hope to have a listen (play) with its 8 subwoofer equalisation next month. Cheers Gary

According Dirac Live Website - there is DIRAC Live (r) and a Feature Addon called Dirac Live Bass Control (extra cost, not included in Dirac Live) So what exactly do we get from Emotiva? I assume Dirac Live - like all other.
And with an extra ADD ON Board for Multiple Subs (Feature of the RMC-1) maybe the Dirac Live Bass Control will work for it. Maybe Emo could plan a package for the Bass Module, together with Dirac Live Bass Control (idea)
Not many official news from Emo since 3/6/20 - last podcast. And during COVID-19 crisis...

My understanding was that the software is the software. The problem is the loose overlapping of terms each company is using. The word module means different things depending on which company is saying it. One is a hardware module and one is a software module. All Emotiva is doing is providing an additional hardware module to allow for additional channels. They may label this a "subwoofer module" and gear their code and menu toward it being used as such. Dirac's Bass software module simply allows one more control and better integration with multiple subwoofers in your system. It is an add on that provides more control and optimization around multiple subs. Without Dirac's sub software module, the algorithms aren't going to take into account all the subwoofers along with your base layer of speakers. This is how I understand it. It would be nice if Emotiva could negotiate a discount and provide that alongside their hardware module. This would entice more people to purchase their hardware. We likely won't know anything specific until these things are done.

We likely won't know anything specific until these things are done. What we get from Dirac is the Dirac Live room correction software. Obviously the connection to Emotiva during measurements is that Dirac generates the test tones out of Emotiva and measures them. Then from the measurements Dirac creates the filters for each channel that was measured. Finally these filters are applied in Emotiva’s processors. Emotiva’s processors needed a little help in applying these filters and that’s where the black box comes into play. Where the Dirac bass module comes into play... Standard Dirac live - treats each sub like another channel Dirac bass module 1 sub - integrates 1 sub with other speakers (sets crossover points and phase etc) Dirac bass module multi sub - integrates multiple subs with each other and other speakers This is my understanding of Dirac room correction, Dirac bass management and Emotiva pre pros.

Now it’s just a matter of time until Emotiva crosses the finish line.
With the pandemic, who knows how long that’s gonna be. I was told a few weeks but no set date. So I’m hoping some time in this quarter.

Repeat from other "Dirac thread"
Just noticed that Q1-2020 has passed and still the message is that Dirac will be a couple of weeks away. I guess that it will be Q3-2020 before any delivery to sweden (in that case 18 months after Q1-2019...).
And a question to Hair Nick, Lonnie and KeithL -
It would be very nice to have a short weekly report on the Dirac project. Not that it will make any difference to the timing or that I don't believe that Emotiva is doing everything they can to get this up and running but the waiting will be more durable when you can follow the progress :-)

Global supply chains are a hot mess right now with really only the bigger vendors getting much support. Its honestly impressive that Emotiva still has product available to sell given how dependent their supply chain is on China.

Its honestly impressive that Emotiva still has product available to sell given how dependent their supply chain is on China. Simply a clarification question.. You mention product, and I'll agree on that one. From the data (updates) we've been given on Dirac through, it is still going through code development. This doesn't normally take being in any particular location. If people are sick, by all means... They get a pass for that. This post isn't meant, in any way, to discount the actual challenges of this virus. In saying that, you can write code from anywhere with a keyboard or pen and paper. This has been on my mind for a while, and I'm trying to wrap my head around how this situation would delay Dirac aside from possibly shipping beta units and finalizing hardware, packaging and logistics around final delivery to the customer. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm on video chats daily with my customers and team working about the same as usual. Unless touching a lot of hardware is involved, there really shouldn't be much of a delay if the ball is firmly in their hands.

I am not asking for deadlines. I know the situation in the world just now and it is a struggle for everyone to get anything working. I just want some regular updates on the project to be able to follow what is going on and what is ahead to solve. Not in detail - just brief points to be able to still my curiosity. I have been waiting patiently for more than a year and like when you have ordered something it is a lot more easy to wait if you can follow your order in the system instead of having no info at all of what's going on.
