[quoteThe Levels should be at zero. Dirac does its own leveling. Go to the Dirac thread to find all the answers. Especially go over the first few posts with resource info, lots there. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/57079/official-dirac-thread-start-postsDirac will quite often be a lower volume, the answer can be found in the Dirac thread. Like I said, lots of info there. If the volume is WAY TOO LOW then there's a problem with one or more channels being able to produce proper volume without a huge dip somewhere... Thanks for reference but this behavior doesn't seem to be Dirac related. It is present on my preset 2 that has no dirac or other eq and there are inconsistent levels between individual channels dependent on source whether i use the rmc-1 level signals or test levels from a blu ray in direct mode ie no dirac. Yes, the rmc test tones are too low and i have to crank up amplifier gain and rmc channel gain to get the med pink noise to reach 75d but then when i go back to program material gains are too high and speakers aren't anywhere close to matched in direct mode. It is as if the rmc test tones are of random inconsistent and low levels - worse than useless. [/quote] once Dirac is has engaged its filters, whether you are ok that preset or not, your system will lose some amount of headroom to allow for any "boosts" Dirac needs to do. This removal of headroom is present across the entire processor as a way to get consistent volume across a system that has extremely inconsistent volume. The actual SPL level of those tones are irrelevant I'm pretty sure. There are two reasons for them being inconsistent imo. Either Dirac is setting levels based on peak SPL or it's broken. If you haven't run through a full set of measurements again after installing 2.1, do so. Mine where noticeably off after upgrading. I still feel like mine aren't right, but I'm starting to just accept that I will always doubt Emotiva gear.

Hi, some ARC issue again here. Now I enjoy Apple TV+ app, with Atmos enabled, through HDMI ARC. It is good to see the info screen shows DD+7.1/Atmos sign, happy to watching decent movies with good sound. However, there is one thing annoying me. When I move timeline while watching video, playing is tempolarily stop, there always short high-pitch loud "tick" noise is out. Always. Sometimes from front left speaker, sometimes surround right, or front left or center, there is no pattern. First I thought it is kind of bug from Apple TV app, but also Netflix and Amazon Prime Video as well. I haven't checked when I use FW 1.10. I don't know whether it is known issue. Anyone has same problem like me? Is there any solution for fix this?

Repost - Would like to get a response please. KeithL Hair Nick Lonnie Can we get an update on what is being worked on for the G3P's? 1. Are you working on getting Dirac Bass Management Add-On working and available? 2. Are you working on getting the Dirac correction up to 96Khz? 3. Are you working on getting DTS X Pro working? 4. Are you working on getting an HDMI 2.1 input and output board? 5. Are you working on the channel expansion modules for the Emotiva RMC-1 G3P? Etc. I think a lot of us would just like a road maps of sorts. Personally item number 1 and 5 are most important to me, but I know there is a lot of different things that can be being worked on. Thank you, SOWK While I'm not Lonnie/Nick/Keith, if I were a betting man in Las Vegas, I'd wager(and there are no sure bets) or" GUESS" that your #1,3,4,5 are as close to sure bets as it gets. I'll go out on a limb and say #4, if it's on their radar to accomplish, isn't a priority. If I remember correctly Lonnie has mentioned that they work on HDMI 2.1. But no time frame. Dirac Bass management I would guess is a sure thing.. Still no time frame though. Dirac correction for above 48khz I would gather is VERY low priority. DTS:X Pro is also a sure thing, I think Keith has mentioned this. But of course no time frame. The channel expansions are a long way from coming out, if ever.. Although simpler expansions can maybe come out in the near future.

I don’t know of a ”Smart TV” that outputs 24p from its streaming apps. Most (all?) do 60p. If you don’t use your TVs apps it will last you longer. You will not need to upgrade it all the time due to some new feature added. Simply upgrade it when it’s broken or the picture doesn’t satisfy you anymore. I use mine as a simple monitor. Although an Android TV with most apps I still think ATV 4k is a VERY much better streaming system than my TV. Always updated to the latest apps and versions.

I don't care ATV or Shield. I myself also considered Shield but these additional device will never win TV internal apps in case of "Easiness", "Comfort", "Quick Access", etc. 24p, 60p, full decode sound, it does not matter. Some people still want their apps. For me, it is not "Just forget about it, buy other device" thing. Different point of view and perspectives, different opinion. I myself also work on development team, I can not say "we have 'A' feature but this is problematic. So buy other device and don't use our "A" feature". If my product is used by normal consumers, I MUST FIX problematic function. It is duty for developers.

Huge thanks to Emotiva Big thanks to graysonh and KeithLReceived my XMC-2 back today, it was crappy I had to get it re-flashed in Tennessee but kudos to Emotiva for the timely fashion of getting it there and fixed and back to me, very happy with the excellent service, I had the same thing happen to a Marantz Pre/Pro and it was almost 3 months from the time it happened to when I had it back in my possession between all the back and forth emails and shipping and such, Emotiva was a mere week and a half so I am very happy to say the least. Can you tell by the reflection on the front panel of some weirdo taking a photo of his XMC-2 Cheers, Chad

Yeah I built the flexi rack around 7 years ago now and love it, if I remember correctly I used 5/8th rod and 3/4 MDF, I once had my Sherbourn PA 7-350 an XPA-5 and my PT-7030 among other things and it was rock solid. I have about $300 in oak sitting in our wood shop right now for a rack build that I haven't gotten around to yet lol. Chad

When 2.1 came, I immediately install it and use until now. It is far more superior then all earlier versions, however it still have some glitches. Believe that it will improve well after each new version come.

I'm having my 2nd or 3rd major slowdown that has resulted in no sound regardless of what I do. Turned it off and and (VRO) and it stalled turning back on. It's requiring a full power cycle again. I'm strongly considering buying an external HDMI switcher as sad is that is to say.
Edit: I've had to do this twice now in the past 10 mins. Fun times!

Uh oh, i just got an RMC-1 two days ago. Out of the box it sounds great...no complaints about sound quality. Unfortunately it’s not very reliable. I’m experiencing problems with the audio over the HDMI bus. (ARC from Sony XBR-75X850C and also HDMI input from Oppo UDP-203.) Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t...very annoying. Video appears to work fine. I’m not sure why the audio has problems if the video is working. Audio on the optical input is working okay. It arrived with F/W v2.0, and I upgraded it to v2.1.
Now I understand the frustration people are experiencing with this product. I don’t really have the time, inclination, or the test equipment to troubleshoot it. Hmmm, not good. Nobody needs the aggravation. It’s a shame because it sounds great, combined with a lot of nice features. Too bad it doesn’t seem to work very well... ouch.
Hopefully it’s a firmware fix and the Emotiva software folks will rescue me from the pain of buying an unreliable product. If it’s a hardware issue... I’m not going to be happy, and I won’t be buying an Emotiva amp for my in-ceiling Atmos speakers. I’m in the market for one, and I was seriously considering Emotiva... but now I’m not so sure...
uh oh, I spoke too soon. Now the audio from the XBR-75X850C to the Emotiva optical input is flaking out. The ARC isn’t working and the optical was an alternative. Yikes, no more Netflix... Also the unit locks up occasionally and won’t accept commands from the front panel or remote control. I think I have a bad unit..grrrr....
Status update... The processor refuses to decode an Atmos audio track when first starting a movie from my DVD player. If I switch to another audio track on the movie, it will successfully decode it and I get audio. When I switch back to the Atmos track, the processor will decode it and I get Atmos audio. It only does this on an Atmos track. All DTS and other Dolby formats seem to work. Strange...
When I first watch a Netflix movie on my TV, the processor refuses to decode the audio track on the HDMI ARC input. If I switch to the Emotiva optical input coming from the TV the processor decodes it and I get audio. When I switch back to the ARC input I then get audio. Strange...
BTW, if you never remove power from the unit...it doesn’t seem to lock-up or act too buggy. Probably best to keep it on stand-by.
2nd update... Unfortunately switching back and forth between the optical input from the TV and the ARC input, to make ARC work doesn’t consistently work. It works sometimes but not all the time. I thought maybe the source material could be the problem. So I replayed a Netflix movie from yesterday when the ARC wasn’t working. Today with the same movie, ARC is now working. Very strange...

Have noticed that slow downs are especially bad when the unit is trying to determine the audio format or when an HDMI input fails to sync or lacks video. For instance, pause a source then try to change the volume - excruciatingly slow .

Finally took the plunge on upgrading my XMC-2 from v1.10 to v2.1 Pretty straight forward although I plotted my steps out in detail beforehand.
Pre-requisite: rubber chicken in paper bag on standby
1. Power down, toggle off switch, disconnect power. Also shutdown XMC-1 Remote App on my iPad 2. Disconnect all connections - HDMI Input and Output, all triggers, IR remote In, XLR Audio In and CAT8 cable 3. Reconnect power, toggle on switch and power on 4. Backup existing config 5. Factory reset while running v1.10 6. Reboot 7. Run v2.1 update (took approx 11 minutes) - took video of Front Panel with my phone 8. Power on 9. Factory reset while running v2.1 10. Reboot 11. Check Firmware version from Front Panel - Information Menu - CHECK! 12. Power down, toggle off switch, disconnect power 13. Reconnect all connections - HDMI Input and Output, all triggers, IR remote In, XLR Audio In and CAT8 cable. 14. Reconnect power, toggle on switch and power on. 15. Check for IP address (DHCP) from Front Panel - Information Menu - CHECK! Will change to fixed IP later 16. Launched Remote App on iPad, brought XMC-2 out of standby - CHECK! 17. Tested stereo music only from Lumin D2 - CHECK! No issues so far
I did not restore my config from backup yet. More testing tomorrow and hopefully diving into Dirac on the weekend after reading the manual again. Rubber chicken remains on standby
Cheers J

Must be a problem with the audio section inside the Emotiva.
