Hi! I'm new here because I bought my Xmc-2 a month ago and I need some help. Can you tell me why I'm not able to turn on loudness? The user manual says that XMC-2 has this function but I can't find it in the menu. Any ideas? It currently isn't functioning. Emo is aware and will have it working in an upcoming firmware.

Hi all, I tried to do a few searches on this topic but didn't find anything, sorry if I missed another thread on it. I've had an XMC-2 for many months now, and one thing I've noticed is that it seems to "cold boot" (like the 30-60 startup sequence) nearly all the time, even though I have my standby mode set to "Video Remains On". My expectation would be that in this mode, I'd get a fast startup time. And if I just power off the unit with the front panel power button, it powers right back on like I would expect, straight to the "Re-think High-End" front panel visual and then into normal "On" mode. However, most days I have the unit sitting in standby until after work hours, at which point it has been off for say, 16-20 hours, and then it starts up with a full cold boot as though I had flipped the mechanical power switch on the back of the unit. Not all days, but most days... sometimes I feel like it just boots up quickly, but it's by far the exception not the norm. Any ideas why this would be? Is there another setting I should check/set? Needless to say I have no desire to be waiting through a cold boot every day and the WAF/SAF on this behavior is rapidly approaching zero. Would love any insights or help on this! Mine does this from time to time. I'll go to push the button and it will begin to start and then do a full reboot as if it was power cycled. I don't have a positive comment. There are new headphones to buy though ☺ I use VOS and mine has never done this. Might be time to call Emotiva support.

Hi, I'm having a issues with my XMC-2 using my PS4 and PS5. I can't get it to consistently get a video signal, sometimes I can sometimes it doesn't. My Nintendo switch always seems to work. Also on the PS5 I can't get it to do 2160p res. It will says "The connection HDMI device doesn't support HDR in 2160p resolution, so HDR will be turned off. (and if I click yes it is only be in 1080p res). I'm using the hdmi cable that came with the ps5 and I tried my Monoprice Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable part number 15429 and I can't get the monoprice one to even show video on screen as of yet. (they both work directly to my tv with is a oled 4k tv). Thanks in advance if anyone has any advice on this. I had a similar problem with my PS4 Pro - the XMC-2 would display video but no sound in 2160p. No combination of settings worked. Setting the input to HDMI 1.4 would resolve the sound issue but obviously limited the PS4 Pro to 1080p. This gadget fixed the problem for me, a second one fixed the "PCM 2.0 only output" problem with the AppleTV 4k.

This is obviously not typical behavior... I use VRO exclusively and have never experienced anything like this. I would recommend backing up your user settings (using the internal storage is fine), performing a factory reset, restore your user settings and see if that resolves your issue. If it doesn't, then Emotiva's tech support would be your next step...

Hi!
Thanks for the quick info. So I have to wait. DSD via USB not working. I have to wait for an update . HDMI ARC not working without problems. I have to wait for an update. Continuous network connection causes problems. I have to wait for an update. This preamp/processor costs about 4000 USD with taxes in Europe. Funny. We are beta testing...

Funny thing is when I called to ask questions about the bugs with their processors, they said there are no bugs it’s working fine for them 🤔😬🤥. I asked if you guys run out before I send my card in will you honor the card. They said they have plenty in stock I don’t need to worry about stock. Guess they are pushing for a good fourth quarter lol. Hopefully they don’t stop updating these processors like they did with the UMC-1 when the UMC-2 came out, UMC-2 stopped when the MC-700 came, that hadn’t had an update since the XMC-1 came out, and the XMC-1 stopped with these new processors . The XMC-1 did work great with the old hdmi boards but since the new boards they are buggy units if my memories right.

I'll differ with the XMC-1....it worked great with the 4K board that I installed myself. It was not buggy. As to not firmware updating older hardware on a regular basis, this is not just the property of Emotiva....I don't remember the last time my Samsung TV was updated....or my old Sony bluray player....even my Oppo 203 hasn't had an update in a very long time and they were supposed to continue updating.

Do you have features that don't work, work correctly or work sometimes and sometimes not on those other products? Providing new features and creating stable products are not the same thing. This is the JRiver sales strategy. Sell something and then work on making it stable throughout it's useful life cycle. Then, take more money. At the end of the day, it's the consumer's fault for buying the product with a rich history of consistency. Edit: This is just general commentary. It wasn't meant to attack you at all. ☺

Hence the Apple TV 4K. Oh, and the Emotiva XMC-2 is rock solid on latest firmware. No offense taken.

I think they are just waiting for DTS X PRO for the extensions modules...
but unfortunately the Dirac BM not included is a very bad things ...when you see the others brands who include that directly ...jbl ...arcam...etc etc ...
if Emotiva want really get a serious way in the processor market emotiva need to get the basic implementation like the other brands ...Dirac BM ...
and in this range price prcessor .....don't tell if dts X pro is a future options when a product like marantz or denon have it in better price range that is not a good things too...
i hope emotiva make it quickly this 2 options .....is the only thing too the RMC1 needs too become the most good processor in the market ...
sorry for the bad english im french...

They may work well today, but they will eventually slow down thru software updates, etc.. Also, I can certainly understand the drive issues in the Sony. Damn encryption mechanisms. 😂😂😂 Some drives work and some not. Some need FW hacks or upgrades. I recently bought a uhd drive that could be flash to work with all disks. Then, my rental store closed. ☺ The balance is to support your solutions through their usable lifetime. When you take %60 of that lifetime as a beta program, long term support becomes an issue. You truly only get all the bugs stable toward the end. Then, you need to bring in more revenue so you build the next generation. You're always running behind. I think you see where I'm going.

I sure hope not! My opinion is that we will not see any channel expansions this or next year. I want DTS:X Pro soon rather than late.. Keith said they will release their first expansion soon. I expect it to be the XLR input card. DLBC is something that I really really want.. Now! Regarding expansion cards, the subwoofer expansion is something I can see myself buying as well as a xlr input card. Channel expansion though I don’t see the need for in my room now.. But I never say never. It would be nice with Front height, top front, top middle and top rear together Also with front wides and surround wides.. One thing also that ALL processors (except Anthems new) have is Auro3D.. It sure would be nice if they could add it. Especially for the upmixer which seems to be a favorite for many with music listening. Dolby Surround with support for wides.. Dolby Center Spread? DTS:X Dialogue level? Why do Emotiva just support the basic stuff?

Well I did buy the XMC-1 at the beginning of its life and there were a few issues for a short while, but certainly no where near 60% of it's life time. The XMC-2 was initially frustrating due to the sound issues, but even though it didn't bode well with the family, the amount of time to resolve wasn't that long in the whole scheme of things. I'm assuming I'm going to have the XMC-2 for quite a while. Every company wants revenue of course, and the latest and greatest is always on the horizon. I don't consider that a bad thing. Some people do. For me, even though it's going to take more money out of my wallet, I like the idea of making things better....better picture....better sound, etc. I know many people who say "standard HD" was good enough....no need for more.....actually my father in law used to say...."No one needs a bigger TV, just sit closer!"

Anyone else have trouble getting their processor to handshake with the Roku Ultra? If I plug it straight in to the TV it works instantly. Only about 25% of the time through the XMC-2. I'm curious to see what you hear on this... I do assume you've been through the cable topics that often come up when people raise this kind of thing...correct? Mark Ordered a new Belkin Ultra HDMI. No better. The problem must be elsewhere.
