Have you done a cold reboot....back power switch off.....wait a full 60 seconds or longer and power back up. Are you using VRO? Excuse my ignorance but what is VRO? Video Remains On......the quick start up mode

For those of you asking about/reporting HDMI-CEC/ARC issues, "inchrist": ie: Damon, in his last post(back a page) he already stated that HDMI-CEC/ARC wasn't worked on, and they would be in the future. So expecting anything different with your experiences with HDMI-CEC/ARC just isn't in the cards with this latest public firmware v2.2. What was added/changed/fixed is in KeithL's post in the "Firmware" section where you download the firmware.

Just a quick update here... With firmware v2.2 ... If you use the Video Remains On standby feature ("high power standby") ... When the processor is in Standby ONLY THE TV CONNECTED TO HDMI OUTPUT #2 WILL RECEIVE AUDIO.
And I've used HDMI1 so that might explain the problem Many users don’t know this, and it’s not clearly documented, but HDMI OUT 2 is considered to be the “primary” HDMI output and should be your first (or only) choice as the output path to your display.

Will test with HDMI 2 when my wife gives me access to the processor

Video Remains On......the quick start up mode Ok, yes I have it in VRO but now maybe the problem is solved when I switch to HDMI2 Yes, saw that....unfortunately most people, including myself think the main output would be "1", however that's not the case. The HDMI out 2 does say "ARC" on it but that's it. You are not the first to be confused....!

snaps and pop too when loudness mode is activated .... maybe dirac need to be reuploaded ... I had my loudness on as well. Was rolling with it on for a few days just to see how it filled in the low end with normal "non-movie" watching.

2.2 update complete. 1. Unexpected, but as others have noted... 2.2 seems to sound better?! It seems like the default gain is higher, mid-bass is more punchy, and the stage is more velvet-y overall. The sound is making my ears tingle and my skin crawl like I don't remember at all. Emo what did you dooooo? 2. UUUUUGGGGGH, alas there is a tradeoff. CEC has gotten even worse. With "CEC Input" enabled the "Menu" button on my AppleTV causes the processor to change inputs... back to the same input. Result is audio stopping and video blinking out for several seconds. CEC Volume is still broken. I feel a bit like I bought a Ferrari 360 Modena. It looks and sounds incredible, but the glove box falls open every time you take a hard left. Emo, do you need a CEC tester? I volunteer. PS, I'm also a software developer. Let's get this fixed! I was curious to hear if anyone had any luck with CEC after the update. I was going to reenable it last night after I got updated to 2.2 but I just didn't feel like messing with it. I did enjoy listening to some of my favorite content and I am fairly certain there is a difference in SQ. A couple songs the bass seemed much louder. One song sounded a tad bit off in the bass but it could be a fluke or maybe I'm misremembering how it sounded before. Either way, I would have to agree, there is a difference. I'll probably mess with CEC this weekend and see if I have any better luck. SIde note, does anyone use Plex on an Nvidia Shield to watch HDR content? I've been having an issue where I'll start a movie with HDR and it will flash the HDR badge up in the corner of my TV screen but I guess the color space or something doesn't shift to the right mode? I'm not sure if it's needing to go to 4:4:4 and not or what is exactly causing this. So the movie will look really washed out and the colors will not be correct. Last night I found that I can manually modify the Shield's video settings to manually switch it over to the correct mode and the color returns to normal. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I've noticed this so many times in my setup using a HTPC. HDR flags, but it doesn't look like it actually activates. I just assumed it was the movie or that I needed to spend more time properly calibrating. So... Maybe this is actually an issue.

The "HDMI / ARC" input or output is generally considered to be the "primary" input or output on most devices. In our case we chose that physical output connector because of its location on the PCB inside. (But, for whatever reason, on many TVs, it's also not Input #1.)

I honestly don't know what the issue is - I've noticed that with the audio when switching to playback of a different audio stream (like going from PCM 2.0 to DTS Master 7.1) the audio does not start playing for a few seconds after the movie starts. The video is also somewhat slow to handshake successfully or whatever so there is usually a second or two of black screen. So it seems like something is not changing to the correct mode during that transition. I didn't have this issue before in my old setup. I had the Nvidia Shield hooked up to a small HDMI splitter box that sent the audio to my Pioneer receiver and the video to the TCL TV directly. The HDR pretty much always worked correctly unless the video/audio was being transcoded by Plex (for instance with Atmos since the HDMI splitter could not pass Atmos).

first, beautiful M5 or M3! sorry I don't know that well. makes since the analogy of the Modena. and pretty good analogy I might add. Thank you! I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the few M3 CS. I love it Ha! Thank you for the honest and the insight into the development process! I'm looking forward to a release that's able to focus there - and I'm more than happy to help with feedback/testing. Until 2.2 I personally didn't have a problem with this. I switched the AppleTV remote to IR volume, and left CEC Input enabled on the processor so that it was easy to switch to my PS5. However, maybe that had something to do with the processor "losing control" of CEC Volume and having it go to the TV after some period of time?

Well I updated to 2.2 and listened for about an hour and to me it sounded about the same. Maybe a tiny bit smoother. But since I had made some changes to my speaker placement the night before I needed to rerun Dirac. And after rerunning Dirac I can say without a shadow of a doubt it sounds much better. But since I raised my right speaker 2" so both are at exactly the same height, crooked floor apparently, and now reran Dirac I have no way of knowing what made the difference. But it is different. A lot different. The more of my Roon playlists I listen to the more I am realizing it.

Previous version of Dirac. 3.0.11 not 3.0.13 I have not tried the latest version as everyone says it locks up.

XMX-2 just went wonky, lost audio that needed hard reboot. After reboot the volume seemed to have disabled Dirac, volume very high, enabled test tone on left speaker to reset levels was necessary. 2.2 may not be all it's cracked up to be, this didn't happen with 2.1.

I had very few issues with ver 2.1 other than pops when switching between Atmos and DTS and the occasional reboot needed to improve sluggish response.
I tried the version 2.2 on my XMC-2 and had lots of issues with the Apple 4K. The video kept turning off and on like it was losing connection every time I would change screens. Also I was getting more popping than usual when changing sound fields. The bass seemed to be turned up about 3-4db from ver2.1. The CEC seemed to work fine with volume control and turning on and off the system.
I loaded version 2.1 and everything works fine again. I will wait for the next update and try again.
BTW - I would like DTS pro added. I am running 9.3.6 so I could utilize the extra channels.

If you do a firmware update, does the processor need to be connected to the internet? is my first time doing a firmware update and is taking forever. I'm going from 2.1 to 2.2 version. Thanks.

After reboot the volume seemed to have disabled Dirac, volume very high, enabled test tone on left speaker to reset levels was necessary. 2.2 may not be all it's cracked up to be, this didn't happen with 2.1. I would: 1) backup your settings, 2) factory default, 3) restore settings, 4) Shutdown and turn off the rocker switch in back, 5) wait two minutes before turning the rocker switch back on, 5) wait another minute, 6) turn it back on by the power button on front. This is the procedure I use when loading a new firmware and it's never failed me. Maybe it will work for you as well. If it doesn't there is always reverting back to v2.1. Personally my RMC-1 has never sounded better than with v2.2 and Dirac v3.0.11. The channel separation is as distinct as I've ever heard it and the front to back & side to side with the LCR & surrounds are seamless. I still get the sluggishness when pausing my Panasonic DP-UB820, but this has been acknowledged already in the firmware notes that KeithL posted.

Otherwise you get excessive “blinking” ie excessive reestablishing connection.
