If you do a firmware update, does the processor need to be connected to the internet? is my first time doing a firmware update and is taking forever. I'm going from 2.1 to 2.2 version. Thanks. No it does not. If it's taking much longer than 7 to 8 minutes, then I would agree that its taking forever. If it is stuck at the "Front Panel" portion, and hasn't shutdown on it's own, then turn the rocker switch off in the back, pull the USB stick, wait a minute, turn the rocker switch back on and then turn on the unit by the power button on the front.

XMX-2 just went wonky, lost audio that needed hard reboot. After reboot the volume seemed to have disabled Dirac, volume very high, enabled test tone on left speaker to reset levels was necessary. 2.2 may not be all it's cracked up to be, this didn't happen with 2.1. I would: 1) backup your settings, 2) factory default, 3) restore settings, 4) Shutdown and turn off the rocker switch in back, 5) wait two minutes before turning the rocker switch back on, 5) wait another minute, 6) turn it back on by the power button on front. This is the procedure I use when loading a new firmware and it's never failed me. Maybe it will work for you as well. If it doesn't there is always reverting back to v2.1. Personally my RMC-1 has never sounded better than with v2.2 and Dirac v3.0.11. The channel separation is as distinct as I've ever heard it and the front to back & side to side with the LCR & surrounds are seamless. I still get the sluggishness when pausing my Panasonic DP-UB820, but this has been acknowledged already in the firmware notes that KeithL posted. Thanks for the info, it's back up and running but will use your method if it chits again. Agreed, loving the sounds.

I had very few issues with ver 2.1 other than pops when switching between Atmos and DTS and the occasional reboot needed to improve sluggish response. I tried the version 2.2 on my XMC-2 and had lots of issues with the Apple 4K. The video kept turning off and on like it was losing connection every time I would change screens. Also I was getting more popping than usual when changing sound fields. The bass seemed to be turned up about 3-4db from ver2.1. The CEC seemed to work fine with volume control and turning on and off the system. I loaded version 2.1 and everything works fine again. I will wait for the next update and try again. BTW - I would like DTS pro added. I am running 9.3.6 so I could utilize the extra channels. The issue is 2.2 with ATV4K is if you have HDMI CEC turned on for “input change”. Otherwise you get excessive “blinking” ie excessive reestablishing connection. Is this an Apple 4k setting or XMC-2 setting?

The many underwater scenes, water flow, torpedo launches, pinging sounds, etc.,etc.,etc. are absolutely clean, clear and realistic. I couldn't be happier with the sound!!! Just to remind you, this track is DolbyTrueHD5.1 so this is with DSU remapping and rendering what I'm hearing from the back surrounds and 4 immersive channels. When the sluggishness bug(s) get worked out, the G3P's will be where I envisioned my RMC-1 being when I first purchased it. I'll then be looking forward to DTS:X Pro and maybe even DLBC.

SIde note, does anyone use Plex on an Nvidia Shield to watch HDR content? I've been having an issue where I'll start a movie with HDR and it will flash the HDR badge up in the corner of my TV screen but I guess the color space or something doesn't shift to the right mode? I'm not sure if it's needing to go to 4:4:4 and not or what is exactly causing this. So the movie will look really washed out and the colors will not be correct. Last night I found that I can manually modify the Shield's video settings to manually switch it over to the correct mode and the color returns to normal. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue? What you describe sounds like a inability to switch to bt2020 [uhd] from rec709 colour space . Knowing the GEN3'S are just switching [good] ; I googled and found this shield problem - www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/shield-tv/9/314606/not-switching-to-bt2020-anymore/

Found a bug in 2.2 and it's repeatable. When playing multi channel dsd either on disc or usb and in my oppo dsd is set to pcm, and you choose either dolby surround upmixer, or neural x i get no sound. When choosing the neural x, most of the time i will get heavy static on top of the music or no sound, where if i choose the dolby upmixer it's only no sound or sometimes i get sound.. I'm also using Dirac live. The only way to get it back to playing normal is to stop the disc, and choose a different mode because all of the other modes get no sound. 2.0 dsd i have no issues with any of the surround modes, only the multichannel. Also is happening with high res multi channel dvd audio disc, although the dolby upmixer sometimes works, the neural x doesn't. So something with any hi res multi channel music is causing it. I didn't have this issue with 2.1. Can you guys please check if you can replicate?
Thanks!

The issue is 2.2 with ATV4K is if you have HDMI CEC turned on for “input change”. Otherwise you get excessive “blinking” ie excessive reestablishing connection. Is this an Apple 4k setting or XMC-2 setting? It’s the setting on the XMC2. Setup -> HDMI CEC-> Input change....need to disable this. Otherwise it’s darn near unusable watching ATV4K. I think Emotiva was working on improving the ARC / CEC experience but didn’t complete it on time. I don’t think this is a showstopper as this has never worked right.

On my XMC-2 it took nearly 20 and it looked like it was failing... when it started up for the last time, it stayed on the "Emotiva" screen for a good 4 minutes, then the "RETHING HIEND" screen for another 3 or so.

Well the Loudness seems to do more than loudness. It has changed the way the dialog sounds and adds to surround levels also more than the fronts. I here more of a center spread across the front stage. For the first time on an Emotiva processor, I like the effect of "loudness"... great for low volume listening... at super low volumes it's a little off-putting but moderate-low and up works well.

snaps and pop too when loudness mode is activated .... maybe dirac need to be reuploaded ... Same here, but I have never used Dirac... so that's not it

And I must be an outlier, because for the first time, CEC works flawlessly for me! I no longer have to switch inputs to get sound (had to do that before, every time, and I could not use VOS)... now I can use VOS and everything just works! Lucky me!

I have always seen it default to DSD so I had no issues other than the loud pops.
