For anyone who says that there is a bass increase, please use REW to measure and show proof in frequency response. I have the 2.1 and 2.2 dirac measurements on REW and no difference. Your ears can play tricks on you, especially when reading other people's post. It's not ears playing tricks. It's obvious. If you experience it you'll know immediately.

It finally happened, I had a lockup after pausing netflix on my Arris cable box for less than 2 minutes. Keith said this shouldn't happen unless we pause for 20-30 minutes. I guess he meant 20-30 cumulative minutes. Locking up once a week or so is better than almost every time I use Netflix or Prime.

Agreed, I'll be the first to admit I was expecting some sound quality changes going in to 2.2 since that's what was being reported from others before I updated but I was a bit startled when the bass hit the first time after upgrading. It's pretty obvious if it happens to you.

Anybody else experiencing loud pop noise when navigating through any TV apps or when pausing/playing any content? I am worried that it might damage my speakers...

I noticed a change (substantial Increase)in bass since updating to ver.2.2 as well, just stopped in here to see if others were reporting the same thing and what the solution is etc. I definitely had a boost of around 5db in my dual mono subwoofer setup with v2.2. I simply turned the gain down on my SVS subwoofers by 5db and all is back to a wonderful blend of bass in my movie experience.

FW-2.2 Dirac-3.0.13 9.1.4 Fronts Large Center Sub LFE, no other subwoofer channel used. Center Small Surrounds Small Rears Small Wides Small Tops (4) Small I get no increased bass in the Center Sub channel, so LFE is normal. No increased bass in the Large Fronts, normal. But, all of the increased bass is from the channels setup as SMALL having greatly elevated bass. This bass is produced by the Large Fronts since Bass Management can't send the bass to a subwoofer channel, the Center Sub is setup for LFE only. The Channels setup as SMALL are the dotted lines which extend up to the LFE in teal, which is +10dB. The purple dashed line is both Fronts L+R together so that is the amount of free gain from both channels playing the same summed bass. This plot is from a few hours ago. I've changed firmwares several times, back and forth because I couldn't accept that it was really happening. As you can see, the only bass that's elevated is for any Small channel for which there is no adjustment possible that I can think of. For every change in firmware, using a User Slot vs a Dirac Slot, Levels is always redone. The microphone has not moved since Friday. The Dirac runs have been just a single mic position. This is also from today. This is using the User Slot. The Small channels are below the purple dashed line representing the Large Fronts, which is correct. Nothing else was changed except that Levels were adjusted for using the User EQ Slot. So this is a User vs Dirac comparison. I used the same method with Dirac as I have been using for months now. Again, the Large Fronts show no increased bass, nor does the Center Sub, both are in line with each other. It's only the channels setup as Small that are grossly elevated as the frequency goes lower, and only when using a Dirac Slot. I've used 3 different Dirac runs with this last one being 3.0.13, and yes, it crashed after loading. But I gotta say, 3.0.13 seems to do a better job overall, so maybe it's worth it. Just gotta save right after measurements, then again after adjusting curtains. I never boost anything, I only pull the curtains for my Fronts so Dirac only corrects up to about 350Hz. I have not found any problem when the system is setup with All Small channels and Mono Subwoofer.

..... I have not found any problem when the system is setup with All Small channels and Mono Subwoofer. Which explains why a fair number of us are not seeing this issue. Personally, I never run my fronts as large and even though I have dual subwoofers, they’re run off of the “center sub” as mono where my MiniDSP would then take over...

I was thinking this was looking like a Dirac issue, but maybe it's a speaker setup issue. Mine is 9.1.4 with Sm Wides, Front and Rear Tops. edit: If you are using a Dirac EQ, try switching to User EQ and see if the extra bass goes away. Don't worry about the Levels, should be close enough as is.

Yup I have all set to small and mono sub. What is your exact speaker setup in the processor please? Fronts, Center, Surrounds and Front heights all configured as small and a Mono sub connected to the Left Sub out.

Yup I have all set to small and mono sub. What is your exact speaker setup in the processor please? 9.1.4 all set to small. All crossover at 80hz except the front r&l at 60hz. One sub on mono. Did not remeasure Dirac but re-uploaded dirac files from 2.1.

Observations on the 2.2 upgrade: Pops: I've also noticed pops, but only when loudness is active. Disabling it seems to eliminate the problem. Dirac: no perception differences. My curves were made before the upgrade. 5.0.2 setup, large LCR, small surround and front height. The weirdest thing is this: I had CEC enabled with all controls, but now every time I make any operation in AppleTV, it will change the input, and I have to click back the proper input in the Emotiva remote. The problem goes away if I disable the change input functionality in the CEC setup. The TV is an LG OLED77GXPUA. It's not major for me but it's important to report everything different with an upgrade. Thanks!

I also get the extra bass regardless if I am using a Dirac filter, or manual EQ settings. My L/R speakers are set to large and all others are set to small. But just adjusting the sub level down about 7dB has fixed the issue for me so it is not the end of the world, just seems fairly clear that somehow 2.2 has increased the gain to the sub channel.

My system - 7.2.6. All channels set to large. Sub is set to LFE.
Been running this way since FW 1.9; No bass or sub issues with all channels set to large. No bass increase or decrease with FW 2.1 or 2.2. Bass quality seems to have improved.
Bass used to be very heavy when I set channels to small, and Sub to mono. About 6 dB hot to my ears.
No Dirac.

Yeah, I get that all the time with every firmware. My usual is around -5dB for the sub channel, but now it's -6.5dB. But my sub channel has 3 subwoofers on it, so that's to be expected.

I used to set my sub level +3dB in setup to get what I liked. Now I like it at -3dB to -5dB.
