I'm not having much luck with XMC-2 after having XMC-1 working perfectly for 5 years... My latest problem is the processor has no sound after sitting idle for X hours. If I try anything like change volume or navigate menu, it is really slow (takes like 10 seconds to increase volume by 1). It doesn't make a difference if put it standby when leave or its left on. Putting into standby then on doesn't help. If I do a full reboot, it starts working again...only to do the same thing the next day. Having to wait for it to boot every time is really annoying. I'm using the latest firmware and it's only a few weeks old. I got the same exact problem as you, I have been battling this issue for months and tried everything. The weird thing is it will work beautifully for a week or so without issues and then all of a sudden I will just turn it on to watch something and it starts acting up again for no reason. It's frustrating and weird. I was having that with 2.1 but not on 2.2. Are you leaving your Dirac pi on all the time? That can supposedly cause issues iirc.

Has anyone heard what will be released in this next version and possibly when? Getting tired of checking the site 10 times a day. Refinements to the DD and DTS code, improvements in HDMI ARC functionality and improvements to HDMI reliability in general. There's no DTS:X "Pro" or nothing else that's particularly " new". So if none of this seems to be of any interest, then relax... there's no need to check the site as often as you do... These are good. Any HDMI hiccup it looses CEC so any improvement would be great.

Agreed. CEC has been so hit or miss for me. I'm not sure what magic order I have to do things to get it to work but if it does, it'll work just fine. Then, if I need to completely power off the TV, Nvidia Shield, or Emotiva XMC-2, it breaks. No amount of messing with it will get it to work again until I randomly enable it again 2 months later and then it works...very odd. I know it's complicated and CEC is implemented differently for everyone, but it seems like every other device I've used it with hasn't had issues...

Note that CEC will work differently depending on the order in which you turn things on. Specifically to do with the order of the LAST DEVICE TURNED ON (not the one that gets there first).

So I have a problem with my XMC-2 that I'm pretty sure needs to go back to Emotiva for. I was trying to install the newest firmware which froze. When I power cycled and the screen came back up, any command lagged like 30 seconds. I tried to factory reset by hitting the arrow keys and waiting until I got to the command I needed, and it did seem to do a factory reset, but the problem was not solved. So I tried the firmware update again (button push...wait 15 seconds...another button push...) and it seemed to start the firmware update process again, but froze again. Left it for about an hour, power cycled again, and now it won't even turn on. The power cycle will elicit the Emotiva logo on the display, and the blue bar will go across the bottom, but then it goes back into standby, and will not power on.
Has this happened to anyone else? Other than sending it back, any suggestions?

I would then suggest that you unplug all HDMI cables from the processor. Unplug the power cord, and network cable. Wait about a half hour, then plug in the power and turn on with no network or HDMI cables connected.

I repeat my post I put in the RMC-1 expansions thread:
Dear Emotiva, May I put in a polite request?
PLEASE diverge the future firmware lines with one firmware code for XMC-2 / RMC-1L and another separate one for the RMC-1
I can already foresee that the coding needed to integrate the 28 channel expansion for the RMC-1 expansion boards is going to setup the expansion boards but likely break a whole lot more than already is, and I don't think the non-RMC-1 users deserve that!

You don’t say maybe sooner than a week if you have any doubts This is Dan's exact wording on the PodCast you are referring to. "So look for that in maybe as little as a week, but certainly not more than 10 days I don't believe, at this point in time. The code work is done so they are just doing all the testing and all the use case scenarios to make sure there is no unforeseen compatibility issues."

I quoted Dan word for word in the post above this one, and he definitely left open the possibility that compatibility issues could arise.

So we have comparability issues and open bugs…no software is going to bug free but get something out….heck make me a beta tester I beta test other stuff why can’t I be in the bleeding edge.

I also unplugged the power cord,. but have not tried the HDMI cables. I'll try that next. It finally would power back up, but only after an extended amount of time after pushing the power button. Commands still won't respond until about 30 seconds after the button press.

Leave it unplugged and see if your sluggish menu operations goes away. Report back...

Hello, I have an existential question that I don't know how to answer: how do I connect my set top box? : lol: Let me explain: the LG OLED G1 is fixed to the wall in the living room and a duct takes 2 HMDI cables of 5m to the "technical room" where there is the set top box, a NVIDIA SHIELD, the PS5, the Switch & an EMOTIVA XMC2. until before the arrival of the LG OLED G1, everything was connected to the XMC2 then only 1 HDMI cable would run to the TV (old PANA plasma)
Since the XMC2 does not yet support HDMI 2.1, I plugged the PS5 directly into the TV and used the G1's HMDI eARC to send the sound back to the Pre-amp in ARC only. The second HMDI (HDMI2) therefore serves as the main source front where SHIELD, Set top Box & SWITCH are connected. on the dashboard of the G1 I have Sound output HDMI ARC, HMDI 1 connected to Playstation 5, and on HDMI2 I see the SHIELD that I manage to control via the CEC. So far so good.
On the other hand I do not see how to find and use either the Switch or the Box ... except by entering into a juggling of remote controls to activate HDMI2 with the TV, then change the HDMI input of the preamp, then turn on the Box with the last remote ...
How do you manage connections of all equipments with such TV LG G1?

They are, but their support will continue on for the foreseeable future. If you aren't sure about getting a Harmony, go for a URC.
