Can we get this thread back on topic? Wow.. thought I was on Facebook for a minute. Agreed....so about this "big" code release mention by Nick...and Dan recently mentioning on the Emotiva podcast, "big announcement coming, but I can't say anything just yet..." Are we getting DBMC? Perhaps management via a web browser with a modern interface... Cheers J

I’m in the same boat!!! I only jumped on an XMC-2 because Emotiva decided to put an expiration date on the 40% card. My bugs are easily fix by switching Inputs and back or do a full reboot. It’s been awhile since a new firmware has been release. I’m hoping that they don’t think there isn’t any bugs left to fix. This thing is far from being bug free. Big code stuff right around the corner. I want to believe…

New code could be many things: DLBC, DTS:X Pro, new Dolby Code, eliminating Dolby / DTS restrictions, general fixes and code cleanup. I think web based management is very unlikely, it’s just too much work when many other things need attention.

It’s badly needed for the future of Emotiva processors. Emotiva has taken some heat, well deserved, for their (G)UI.. It’s actually bad in every possible way! It’s extremely slow, cumbersome, no on screen help, has no graphics for the needed parts like speaker setup. The layout and placement for some features seems wrong.. Once implemented this would be a breeze to do updates to I would guess.. It’s a good investment IMO. The processors while lacking in some areas, having some instability, are not unusable as is. Just look at the competition.. Most have a WebUI and they work really good and they are above anything snappy.. Which I guess (hope) Emotiva would be as well.

We are working on a replacement unit that should be available shortly. “

Only thing on my list hardware wise right now is a couple multi-channel Class-D amps, but OT for this thread.

I’m not saying it’s not needed, or that I wouldn’t like it, I’m just saying it’s unlikely that it’s being worked on, just too much other work to do, though I’d be happy to be wrong.

There are times where we feel extremely confident that we are only 6 weeks away from having something and we are on track only to be met with some sort of roadblock that pushes it out 8 more weeks. Rinse and repeat. It can be very frustrating because there are times where we are in perfect position to release something huge only to be met with delays.

No new features such as these, as nice-to-have as they may be... ... UNLESS basic functioning is fixed FIRST (or as well as.) (e.g. The unforgiveable bass management screw-up that has been completely unacknowledged on the forums despite being something that affects almost every single home theatre user given that DTS and Dolby spec. by default practically mandate both a subwoofer and surround speakers set to small, irrespective of their actual capability, in order to get the most out of every distributed media that has ever been produced on a disc or streamed in the last 20+ years)

Even though a release date can't be shared it would be great to know what we can look forward to...I'm mostly looking for a fix for the bass management issue, my next biggest hope would be for DLBC, followed directly with a Web UI. As markc mentioned, it would be great to get an official acknowledgement of the BM issue and that it's going to be addressed.

I dream of the day that I can turn on my RMC-1 and not randomly see a blue screen. I hadn’t noticed before, but your signature says you’re still on FW1.10. Have you tried any of the newer FWs to see if the Blue Screen issue is reduced or remedied? It was mentioned blue screen might be a projector thing, are you using one? I’ve truly never seen it.

I have no knowledge about the blue screen issue, but I generally will not apply an update unless the release notes specify that an issue I experience is fixed or there is a new feature that I want. Release notes that say they fixed miscellaneous issues without specifics are not helpful. I have personally been burnt so many times applying updates only to find that the updates introduced new problems.
