Sorry, false alarm. I somehow did not have the XLR hooked up to the center channel amp. Sounds great now! Color me very embarrassed! We’ve all done it! No worries!

Received an email from Emotiva accounting the "Factory Renewed Event". Event you say? Well, woohoo! I must contain my excitement.
Who here is looking forward to the email from Emotiva announcing the "RMC-1/RMC-1L/XMC-2 Owners DLBC/Firmware Update Event"?
Let's hope it is soon and worthy of a WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!

While you're at it, you might also want to check out the HTP-1's "warts". It might have support for DLBC, but it doesn't come without its own issues. And like Emotiva, there's nothing but radio silence from Monolith (Hobie). Availability remains a big problem. Replacement, if you get a faulty unit, is an even bigger problem. Keep in mind that there is NO service network for these. If you get a bad one, your only recourse is a replacement (if available) or a refund/store credit. ATI builds them, but they provide no warranty service. If it were me and DLBC was a "must have", I'd look hard at the new JBL SDP-58 (which includes DLBC) or the new Arcam AV41 (which supports DLBC). Both units are already HDMI 2.1 equipped and are due to arrive at dealers Q1 2022. While the MSRP is higher than either Monolith or Emotiva, buying from a local "brick and mortar" dealer might get you a significant discount. You'd also get a viable line of service and support if you'd ever need it. Just a thought...

The boot loop issue is certainly something I take into consideration. DLBC is not the only thing on my wishlist, the web UI (especially the pink soda custom UI), integrated Bass EQ feature, among other things are some of the reasons why the HTP-1 is standing out to me at it's pricepoint. It will be interesting to see if stock issues improve over the next year. Regardless I'll probably be buying second hand as I've had good experiences with that in the past and the saved money is worth it to me. I would love to consider the JBL SPD-58 but unless I could get it for less than $4000 I won't be able to consider it as a viable option in my budget for quite some time unfortunately.

I hear you loud and clear on the price point. That's why I'm going to hold firm, for now, and hope for the best. DLBC (or Dirac in general) is not a huge sticking point for me, personally, but the ability to cross-mix (Dolby > DTS and vice versa), implemention of the new DSU and DTS:X Pro software as well as improving basic functionality (wherever it can be) are important to me (or some eventually will be). So if there is no hope for those things on the horizon, I might eventually be looking too...

I’m with you and I almost bought a used HTP1 but passed on it when I found that the warranty is not transferable. So, for me at least buying a used HTP1 is not an option if warranty issue means replacement unit. It really is a bummer that we have so few viable choices unless we spend $10-20k for a processor. I also hope that DLBC will be coming to the G3P but I’m not sure if it’ll ever be available - perhaps the cost doesn’t outweigh the benefit.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE DIRAC LIVE NETWORK INTERFACE BOX.
Going forward we will be shipping the Dirac Kit for the RMC-1, RMC-1L, and XMC-2 with a DIFFERENT Network Interface Box. (Due to chip shortages we will be replacing the original Raspberry Pi microcomputer with an equivalent Beagle Bone.)
IN TERMS OF DIRAC LIVE THE FUNCTIONALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE NEW NIB IS IDENTICAL TO THE ORIGINAL ONE. THE NEW NIB IS COMPLETELY INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THE ORIGINAL ONE AND WILL PRODUCE IDENTICAL RESULTS.
However the case, AC adapter, and indicator LEDs are different... and the new unit DOES NOT use or include a removable microSD program card.
Starting tomorrow new units going forward will include a sheet that outlines these differences (they were not included in the first few units shipped). I've also attached a copy of that sheet to this post. Just FYI... the ability to use the Dolby Upmixer with DTS content and vice versa is on our road map for the next MAJOR firmware update. I hear you loud and clear on the price point. That's why I'm going to hold firm, for now, and hope for the best. That's unfortunate and I was not aware of that, it certainly throws a wrench in the plan. I don't want to test my luck but as far as I can recall I've never had to warranty out an AVR/processor/expensive electronic device so I could still take the gamble. I debated even bringing up this topic initially, to be clear there's plenty of things I like about my Emotiva processor. It sounds fantastic and when it works, it works. I know you should never buy any type of product with promises of what it may be able to do in the future, only what it can do now. And I know Emo has stated that DLBC was never promised with the inception of the Gen 3 processors and was something they would work towards if possible. With that said, I did buy this processor with the hope that it would make it into a future firmware as it was stated that DLBC would be added (as far as I'm aware). I'm more than willing and would prefer to stick around with my Emo processor than to try and sell it and find an new one, but as the consumer we are looking for the best product to fit our needs and I'm open to that option. Anyways, a long rant to say I just wanted to be honest about what I was looking for going forward and what might fit my needs but that the Emo still has been good for what I needed at the time.

OK....
Yes, we do have a fix for that, and we expect it to be included in the next major firmware release... But I do NOT have a definite date for that release yet... (other than "soon").
Again....have you contacted Keith directly? Not to defend him or Emotiva in general, but to just assume he is reading all this and choosing not to respond because it's negative makes no sense. IMO he is very responsive. I've spoken to him on the phone as well as via IM. You may not get the answer that you want, but you won't know by just posting here. I don't mean to sound harsh and apologize if this sounds that way, but I've always found that with anything in life, direct contact saves time and hopefully frustration. And yes, we do need an update concerning this issue.edit: In trying to be proactive I've sent an IM this morning to Keith asking him to take a look at this thread and issue and to provide a status. And this was not the first time that "soon" or or its variation was used.

We were close to release but wanted to circle back on a few things first. We should have an update soon. As far back as June 2 of last year we were being told "soon". Maybe even earlier than this post.

Glad to hear the dsu for dts content and vice versa is planned for the next major firmware release, but does the lack of mentioning dtsx:pro indicate that that is still a way off? 🤔 What’s your magic 8 ball say? I literally typed it into 8-ball-magic dot com and it said “outlook not so good” lol!

If the next one isn't a major release then how far apart are the major releases? 2 years? A decade? A roadmap is great, but it needs to be resourced so that it can be delivered within the lifetime of the product.

I would like (which doesn't mean squat) to have an update as to what exactly is being worked on for the next major update. Just that we are working on this, this, and this. Buzzwords like soon, imminent, etc. are not needed. I would also like to know what the problems are if possible. Anything to allow us to understand what is going on.
