Man, time flies...I can't believe it's already March. I will admit if you told me back then around September/October when we were asking for the status update for the next firmware that we still wouldn't have it by this point I would have lost my mind Not saying I'm happy about this, just that my resolve to be patient has increased. A list of bug fixes, enhancements, anything really would certainly be a welcomed sight. So far, here's what has been said: Enhancements/Updates/Bug Fixes that have been confirmed: - Dolby Upmixer with DTS content and vice versa (03/02/22)
- Bass Management bug for single subwoofer setup/Possible additional fixes for multi sub? (12/02/21 and 10/25/21)
- Enhancements for ARC and HDMI (10/25/21)
Anybody else remember anything I'm missing?

FWIW, if the new JBL units are priced anything like their predecessors, then they're basically out of the question where I live. They run at a 50% premium (AUD13k vs USD6K).

I’m with you and I almost bought a used HTP1 but passed on it when I found that the warranty is not transferable. So, for me at least buying a used HTP1 is not an option if warranty issue means replacement unit. It really is a bummer that we have so few viable choices unless we spend $10-20k for a processor. I also hope that DLBC will be coming to the G3P but I’m not sure if it’ll ever be available - perhaps the cost doesn’t outweigh the benefit. That's unfortunate and I was not aware of that, it certainly throws a wrench in the plan. I don't want to test my luck but as far as I can recall I've never had to warranty out an AVR/processor/expensive electronic device so I could still take the gamble. I debated even bringing up this topic initially, to be clear there's plenty of things I like about my Emotiva processor. It sounds fantastic and when it works, it works. I know you should never buy any type of product with promises of what it may be able to do in the future, only what it can do now. And I know Emo has stated that DLBC was never promised with the inception of the Gen 3 processors and was something they would work towards if possible. With that said, I did buy this processor with the hope that it would make it into a future firmware as it was stated that DLBC would be added (as far as I'm aware). I'm more than willing and would prefer to stick around with my Emo processor than to try and sell it and find an new one, but as the consumer we are looking for the best product to fit our needs and I'm open to that option. Anyways, a long rant to say I just wanted to be honest about what I was looking for going forward and what might fit my needs but that the Emo still has been good for what I needed at the time. DLBC was not promised. But Dirac Unison was the original reason I bought it. So there is that. It was mentioned that Dirac Unison would be on it when it was first talked about. Then it became clear that wouldn't pan out. Then we started talking about DLBC. But not until after Unison was canned. I have been here waiting. I sold my Krell Foundation for a dream that never happened. I am seriously considering an Anthem AVM90 at this point. I am getting frustrated waiting for this ever elusive update. That is sounding like it will not even do anything I care to use. I don't use upmixers. Don't like them. I want it as it is. Straight up with no chasers. The RMC1L does sound fantastic. But I am using two subs. I don't want to buy a mini dsp. It sounds like the Anthem soon will be able to do what DLBC is supposed to do. And it is Roon ready soon. So I can sell my 2000$ dac and about 2000$ worth of extras with all my Sotm gear. I am really trying to hold on for this fully balanced from beginning to end dream I have had. I have all fully balanced amps. I am going to be triamping my new diy speakers with six fully balanced Cherry Maraschino King amps. So please someone talk me off the edge again. It is so hard to anticipate then the dream be gone again. All week I anticipate some post saying new firmware is up. Only to come to Friday end of business and get totally bummed again.

Patience is a hard thing. You'll decide to move on and "boom" what you want will be provided...too late! I only have one sub and everything that I need with the XMC-2 is working for me. But I feel for those with multiple subs.

Wait, wait, wait…then wait some more. I rarely see my XMC2 these days since I hardly go down to the basement but I do plan on bringing it back upstairs when DLBC arrives. I have 2 different subs (SVS PB16 run in sealed mode and JL F113) so I am hoping DLBC will maximize the bass quality. However, even without DLBC and XMC2 my buddy’s 20 year old Theta Casanova is subbing in great and I used the PEQ in the SVS and ran ARO in the JL. Not optimal but still better than not doing anything.
So, I’ll ride this out but not seeing the XMC2 every day certainly has made this waiting a little easier. Also not expecting Emotiva to deliver…when you expect nothing, you won’t be disappointed.
Emotiva has turned into somewhat of a laughing stock especially with the G3P and unfortunately they have lost their credibility. I don’t plan on selling my XMC2 as it works great in the basement in the kids rec room but I would sure like to bring it back upstairs in my primary system.

It may have been, I personally don't remember when that would have been. If someone can link me the confirmation I can update my "Unofficial/Official update list" lol

I don't use upmixers. Don't like them. I want it as it is. Straight up with no chasers. The AVM90 has the longest lead time when I checked a couple weeks ago. It's what I was looking at when announced, but I've never read anything that talks about the sound quality being better than an Emotiva processor. I care more about two channel music sound, but also want HT so I choose to use a processor. The AVM90 has great features, looks great, but it keeps being unavailable. I'm a fan of Anthem ARC as it's built-in to my mains and subs, but they've had issues with it for the processors. I'm very happy overall with the XMC-2. I don't seem to have issues like some unfortunately experience, and I've used mine as a test mule. Like you, I don't use up- mixers except for general tv where I just don't care. If I had a room I could populate with better surrounds/Tops I'd get the RMC. Waiting for bugs to be fixed and features to be implemented is exasperating. My TiVo EDGE is a good example of that, as well as my Sony tv, and also my Sony X700 for the first year waiting for DV to work. So my XMC-2 is not alone in my system in this regard.

Just FYI... the ability to use the Dolby Upmixer with DTS content and vice versa is on our road map for the next MAJOR firmware update. I hear you loud and clear on the price point. That's why I'm going to hold firm, for now, and hope for the best. DLBC (or Dirac in general) is not a huge sticking point for me, personally, but the ability to cross-mix (Dolby > DTS and vice versa), implemention of the new DSU and DTS:X Pro software as well as improving basic functionality (wherever it can be) are important to me (or some eventually will be). So if there is no hope for those things on the horizon, I might eventually be looking too... Thanks for the info Keith. Is there any possibility for you to mention what features/improvements are planned for the next firmware? We now know BM bugfix and Cross mixing.. More? It must be much more taking this long.. I guess support for channel extension cards? This was supposed to be released ”later this year” last year.. With this, support for more speaker positions? Maybe Dolby 11.1.8 support?

Note to self, always grab a screenshot of product description when doling out BIG Bucks for a product. especially when there are promises on the delivery of future functionality. Perhaps my memory fails me and I am wrong. But Keith has mentioned it will be delivered for the XMC-2

Comparing parts, as I did before buying my XMC-2, I do not see how an Anthem processor can match an Emotiva processor in sound quality. Where can you find the parts breakdown of the AVM90? It will have the ESS 9038 Dac which is a step up from the 4490 in the Emo. I don't know anything else parts wise. If not fully balanced it would be a disappointment,at the asking price. I know if it would have had the AKM 4499 dacs like it was supposed to I would have definitely been selling the RMC1L. As that is fully balanced I believe by nature. I don't think it can be any other way. That 4499 Dac technology wise is the bomb. Far better than any of these other off the shelf DACs. It's such a shame that the AKM factory burned. You will also be able to do Roon native through it's own Ethernet input. Which would save me huge bucks. Like I said I can sell multiple items that add up to 5k in low-ball used price territory. Plus I could sell the RMC1L for a couple K also. That is 7k. I am sure I could get a AVM90 for close to that. It would be brand new. With a new warranty. If I knew these things were coming to the Emo I would wait. But I am actually starting to think that some of the things aren't going to make it in the firmware. Not this major update or any updates. And I know I can't be alone in this. I mean saying it is planned is not saying it will be implemented. This processor is getting long in the tooth. The AVM90 is supposed to be out next week I heard.

Every time I have to reboot the XMC-2 and then power on it reminds me
Rethink HighEnd
And every time I read this thread I have to wonder if thats what I should be doing...
but still I keep hoping that one day soon It will just work as it was intended to like near everything else in my hifi/ht setup
forever hopeful

What was the issue with the Tivo Edge? Initial activation didn't work, Premium channels didn't work, (this affected a friend, not me as I don't have premium channels) Dolby Vision didn't work, The remote didn't work, well not completely, Importing shows from previous model didn't work. Initial activation was a struggle for a lot of us but was a temporary issue. Premium channels took months to get a firmware to help those who needed it. DV took over a year to implement. The remote is still a problem. RF just won't work anymore at all, and I'm on my third remote. This is a remote DESIGNED TO WORK with this box. Importing shows eventually worked, but not as advertised. TiVo has never been vocal about when things will work. I had to do a system reset to get it working recently, about 4-5 weeks ago. The box wouldn't respond to remote at all, or repeat commands about 5 times, which made it difficult to do a reset. But after a few hours I was able to initiate a reset, which didn't work at first, but a second attempt sort of did what it was supposed to do. Then it took a day to finally respond to the remote. But RF still doesn't work at all. The remote knows it, but the box doesn't think there's a problem, so, no mutual communication. But I still like the TiVo more than the Xfinity box. Features are important.

I don't seem to have issues like some unfortunately experience Same here, other than slow the response my XMC-2 does everything I need it to do, but my requirements are simple, 5.1.2, with only 3 sources a cable box, ATV4K and Sony 4K BD player (plays SACD's too). My analogue stereo listening is handled by the XSP-1 with turn table and ERC-3 inputs. This weekend it is DIRAC implementation time, the significant other will be out of the house for couple of hours tomorrow so I can make as much "noise" as I like. Cheers Gary
