I'd be more interested to know the answer to" What is the minimal interval between regular mains-power-off-resets that a consumer needs to suffer for an electronic device to be considered functional?" I see where you're going with this but I think the answer varies per person... I find the sound of the thing to be so good that I put up with some of the very very annoying quirks I may have done 2 power resets in almost 3 years. I didn’t realize there were still a lot of bugs. I don’t even think about the functionality…I’m still focused on the features or lack there of ie DLBC.

Maybe the surprise is the release of the mythical channel expansion modules alongside FW3.0 🥵

Perhaps the FW3.0 will fix the random static noise that appears in my rear speakers from time to time!
Oh and also to allow the passing of all (supposed) supported 4K frame rates when using ATV4K match frame rate and resolution function!

Any chance of a hint at the timeline for the mythical v3.x? Please don't say "a few weeks" or "what the hell is wrong with pumpkin spice lattes". If I read ‘between the lines’, the fact that Brent has now been partially re-deployed with freer time as FW spokesperson, and with regular contributions would that might infer that the “hard yards” have been done, and only mopping up “feet & inches” mopping up remains. or the espresso is dispensed, awaiting the frothy top, twist of lemon optional. .https://youtu.be/eqqXCiPJTXE

If this very old issue(s) is still not actually settled I wouldn't put much stock in anything beyond CEC/ARC being the "new" thing that gets fixed with the newest firmware. (I hope I'm wrong but...)

Wouldn't it be a good idea, to create a RMC-1/RMC-1L/XMC-2 Owners Thread (Post Firmware v2.50) to start only with issues about the upcoming V3.0?

Q regarding channel assignment (manual P 72): Can I do 2 subs and 6 heights? 7.2.6 is more convenient than 9.2.4 (higher WAF...) but to do this, the L/R Wides need to be re-assigned to L/R Height. This is probably not possible?

This is probably not possible? You can do a max of 9.1.6. The Left/Right Subs need to be assigned as Top Middle. Width channels are not assignable to Height channels. So you would need to daisy chain the Center Sub Output to both subs, which works better anyway. I use a single sub output out to many subs via miniDSP, so Dirac sees them as one subwoofer.

I think if 3.X is stable and does what it purports to do, with no new introduced bugs, then the time to start a new thread is the next major release. This, because the next major release should have significantly rewritted code and new features ... if I interpret posts of the past month correctly. If it's a 4.0 ... then that's the break point.

To clarify my role here, I work on the sales and customer service team with a focus on the processors. I have been here for a little over a year and used to teach high school Calculus and Physics. I came into this as a hobbyist, with a background in mostly two-channel audio. Specifically vintage gear and repair/restoration, so a little different than modern multichannel audio, HDMI ,etc. When I started here, I was tasked with processor support, and I have really enjoyed the role and love the product. I have become very familiar with the operation of the processors in my time here and have started more data collection regarding processor behavior and issues. I have already gained insight from many of you and see the value in being more present on the forum. Many of you have been Emotiva processor owners through the years and have perspective on them that I do not. So while I still encourage any with ongoing issues to reach out directly to us for support, I will stop by here more regularly and try to give updates where I can, the danger being saying too much.
I may discuss with Keith about starting a new forum post for fw3.0 and beyond, but I at least have a tentative plan to post some kind of a survey after 3.0 has been released for some weeks so that I can better understand how it is behaving, what improvements have been effective, and what areas still may need work. The next firmware may not blow anyone away on the surface with regards to new features and specs, but I am very excited for its release. We were close the other week but had to pull back to resolve a couple of items. I really can't put a timeframe on it, as I am not directly involved with the engineering side of things outside of doing some independent testing and bug reporting. I know it has been a long road of late, but I think this will be an important firmware release for the processors regardless.

Thanks Brent. Can you give a more specific timeline for the release of updated FW?

Thanks Brent. Can you give a more specific timeline for the release of updated FW? Danny I probably could, but I would probably be wrong. It's not that I have that information and won't share it, I just really hesitate to speculate at this point, not being directly involved in fw development. Best case is probably a couple of weeks, but that depends on many things that are still unknown. If I do have some real information to add regarding timeframe, I will provide an update regarding timing here.

Then the first post can have sections like: Remaining issues from previous firmware versions: New issues discovered in this firmware:
