Are pops and cracks present in all XMC-2 or are some units free from it? Would muting xmc-2 before switching source prevent pops etc. or not really. Do pops and cracks only happen when switching sources or also in other scenarios? Sorry about all the questions and thank you for being so supportive with answering them. I have place the offer on 2nd hand unit and still have some time to cancel it so I am trying to understand few things ASAP. Thanks I have an RMC1 and my experience with pops/cracks as follows: - on startup I may get a faint pop/crack from one of the speakers (not always). This doesn't worry me as its so faint it won't cause damage - on any device when the RMC1 changes audio format say from stereo to multi channel and back I get a louder crack or pop. These ones do worry me - I now mute the RMC1 as soon as it starts and when my contact starts playing and I see the RMC1 onscreen display of audio format I take mute off - when my content finishes playing I mute the volume and only take mute off when I start new content playback. - no issue once content is playing and audio format is synched in - I also lower the volume before turning off the unit so that if I forget the mute next I turn the unit on the pop/crack isn't as loud PS @ emotiva the audio delay trick didn't work for me re clicks/pops. Just a thought here. I don't have any pop or crack issues (I have others just not this one), and not sure if this is relevant but all my amps are class D, none of them are A/B.

All my amps are now class D, I had the pops with my previous A/Bs, and they continue as would be expected with the Ds. Your lack of pops is likely due to something else.

Emotiva Staff, status on when we can expect a firmware update for the RMC-1L? Thank you! I woke up this morning, wandered downstairs, turned on my RMC-1L, turned on the coffee machine while it was rebooting, put on my Max Cooper Emmenence BluRay and blissed out for half an hour. It was so relaxing. It's a, pity it was only a dream. Instead, in reality, I woke up, wandered downstairs, turned on my RMC-1L, turned on the coffee machine, then unloaded the dishwasher, vacuumed the kitchen floor and did the New York Times crossword after restarting my RMC-1L several times to get the BluRay player to sort of work until I eventually gave up at the third cup of coffee and went to work. Maybe the v3.0 firmware is part of that dream.....? I have an XMC-2. I must always select the HDMI input I want twice for everything but my Oppo 203, which works every time, but that is it. I use an R3000 JVC projector. Are you using the HDMI 2 output?

Are you using the HDMI 2 output? Is your Oppo on HDMI-1? DIRECTV on HDMI-1, Oppo on HDMI-2, AppleTV on HDMI-3. The Oppo rarely requires me to click on HDMI-2 more than once. The DIRECTV a always requires two clicks on HDMI-1. AppleTV is 50/50.

Almos the same problem I have. Roku on 1, Oppo on 2, and PS5 on 3. I'll turn on PS5, shows HDMI 3 input on RMC screen, then goes to input 1. So I have to hit 3 again. Every time and no other inputs require a second button press.

But sometimes I can force a picture by just activating a screen change within the source component, eg changing ATV4K to the Menu sometimes will bring up a picture instead of re-selecting that HDMI input on the XMC-2. Its like it needs a signal to wake it up.

thezonefbczarxenoI see thezone has a Sony display, so this may well apply, but the question for you other two, what is your display? On my Sony display there is a setting which helped after I went from all copper HDMI cable to a fiber optic cable and was met with what is known as HDCP Lockup, which I believe is due to a lack of communication between source and sink, and in my case the sink wasn't able to talk back to the source via the fiber optic cable. This is my theory anyway, and after a vast amount of searching it's the only one that made sense. When the system was turned off for a period of time, the next time it was turned on the tv acted like nothing was connected and the processor was slow, unresponsive, and required a cold boot to cure the issue. The setting is this for RS232 control. It's default was Via HDMI Port, and I changed it to Via Serial Port. After changing it the problem went away, even though it's a seemingly, absolutely, unrelated setting type. NicS, with your projector, I'm not sure if this solution applies in your case, but the cause might be the same. I got the same HDCP Lockup when using my Epson PJ, but didn't try too hard to find a solution because I don't use it much. But the problem showed up in exactly the same way as my Sony tv when I use the fiber optic cable. I'll try to see if there's a setting on the PJ that would allow it to continue to function as before.

What is turn-on input set to and what firmware are you using? There is a bug that causes something like this. If you assign a button to the input in Setup then use that button to change to the input it usually works fine for some reason.

If your processor is changing to HDMI 3 when you give it the command, but then it is automatically changing back to HDMI 1 without you giving it that command, I suggest turning off HDMI CEC Input Change in the processor. I also suggest that if anyone is using 1080p sources or display and having issues with input switching, set the HDMI type to 1.4 in Setup > Inputs, which may help. HDMI handshaking is all about timing and varies with source device and display. We are working to alleviate this having to toggle or reselect the input #.

To the best of my recollection, my XMC-2 has done this for at least two years. Actually, Keith posted the fix. That is, clicking on the HDMI input you want two times. Before that I always switched to HDMI-2 and then back to the HDMI input I needed.

The frustrating thing, is that I have tried to program a delay and an additional HDMI input signal on my Harmony remote but this does not work. Cant for the life of me work out why, I have to manually select it on the same stupid remote. Makes no sense. I have even tried adding in a power up delay before sending the initial HDMI input command on the harmony but this doesn't work either. Technology sucks sometimes. Maybe I should just sell everything and buy a dumb sound bar to go with my $7,000 TV like 98% of every other schmuck in the world.

This was discussed about a year ago in the Harmony thread, as are the workarounds. It’s the discrete HDMI command from the Harmony or RS232, being sent right after power up from LPS. A ‘button command’ (select an input based on its Button assignment) is the simple workaround. There is hope this can be addressed. Edit: The discussion begins before, but this post distills the problem down. The Discrete Command / HDMI Issue

The Discrete Command / HDMI IssueYes I remember reading through this thread but I couldn't see a solution. Are you saying there is a work around? Yes, if you manually add a button or Input command to the end of your Activity, it should work. So if for example if you have an activity to turn the system on and select a device on HDMI-3. First, in input setup for HDMI-3 assign an Input to the ‘Button’ field, let’s say Input 3. Then, in Harmony Setup for that Activity, add a pause (maybe a couple seconds) and then the command “3”. Depending on your startup delay you might have to play with this delay, and it might not be needed. I realize this sounds like what you described above, but I’m thinking maybe you didn’t assign the Button? and tried to send a discrete Input command. Here are screenshots of the Setup / Button command, and the added Activity steps in Harmony setup. If we want to continue Harmony discussion, we should do it in that thread, other universal remotes face the same issue.

I am a patient man, I made funny posts about"soon" multiple times this year. I believe starting back in January. It's now the end of August. I am done with these clowns. I'm moving on.
