Doesn’t the ”Hold power button for 5 secs” work for you guys? Mine has hanged twice since 1.10 (never before).. Holding the power button until it shuts down has worked forme. I don’t actually think it’s hanged as in bugged, I believe it’s lagging like this crazy and don’t react to anything. One time it wasn’t reacting at all, I let it be for 10-15minutes and suddenly it started to react to the commands I had sent several minutes ago. The noise signal was so loud that waiting 5 seconds would have seemed like a whole day. Every time that the unit has freezed I never had the patience to wait 15 min. Yeah of course if you got high volume noise you should cut the power as quick as possible. I was actually thinking about silent hang of the unit. Like Dimora has.. The one time I left it, I did search the forums if anyone else have had similar issues. I was quite surprised.. The unit suddenly started to switch inputs, change volume and switch modes. All (I think) buttons I had pressed before. I have noticed the unit lagging sometimes, especially if I have changed settings and gone in and out of the setup alot (while testing DTS issue). The other day just while cycling through the speaker settings it hanged. Had to press the front power button to restart. Instantly after restart I noticed the higher speed of the menu.

I’ve had two lockup’s now on Firmware 1.10.
I’ve probably had 10 total since I received this unit.

In day to day use I am also fortunate to get no lockups.
However, I have twice set-up the processor preferences and audio setup from start to finish - once when I got it and once to see if I could get a unit that others seem to have (without Neural:X issues), in case I had a strange setting somewhere.
Browsing through the menu and making the all the necessary changes to the settings for speakers and all inputs caused multiple lockups that required a hard reset using the back panel rocker. It didn't matter how slow and careful I was with the menu functions.
I must have had 15-20 lockups in those two days, and that is not what you need when you have just got your new expensive toy

I have some happy news to report. I just got my XMC-2 back from Emotiva service, and there's no high pitch whine coming from the unbalanced speakers or the chassis any more. Even if I stick my ear on the chassis, it's silent. They completely eliminated the problem.

Alas, because things just can't go right in 2020, I'm now having a different issue with my setup (that is unrelated to the XMC-2). One of my Airmotiv 5s surround speakers keeps issuing a burst of static. Even when it's disconnected from the processor, with just the internal amp powered on, the sound persists. It's not constant, but frequent enough that I've disabled my side speakers for the time being. I tried powering the speaker on various different circuits in the house, and the static always starts after a few seconds of being powered on. I'm guessing the amp is damaged, and I'll need to send it back to Emotiva. Hopefully they still have parts to service these speakers. I'll call them on Monday to troubleshoot. At least this won't mean my whole theater is down. I'll just have to suffer with 5.2.4 sound for the time being.

I have a pair of Airmotive 5’s on one of my my desktop systems, and one of them crackles and pops a bit, I’m pretty sure it’s a bad capacitor. I wrote to them some time back and they may have told me a value I could replace, but I mostly use them in winter and I’ve found it goes away if I leave them on, maybe I’ll get around to fixing them someday. So are these 5’s or 5S’? How long have you left them on?

I’ll need to keep an eye (ear) out for it. I think I heard it at night when nothing else was going on.

I haven't spent much time in the theater today, but I haven't noticed the sound at all, but I'm hopeful that, like you've experienced, the problem goes away by just leaving the speaker on. When I sent my XMC-2 in for service, I powered down all of my speakers. Before that, it'd years since I turned them off. Fingers crossed!

I originally noticed if from the chassis of the XMC-2 the first time I turned it on. However, since I was using a fully balanced path to my speakers, it was easy enough to ignore once I moved it a bit further away from my ears. When I added an unbalanced amp (A-500), for my Atmos speakers, suddenly the sound was coming from all 4 top speakers. Again, it was constant, and impossible to ignore. It was a 3khz.

So I got my rmc hooked up amp set speaker settings, distance, crossover, etc. I’m lost about the filters though? Am I supposed to do something with them? Also, I couldn’t get the processor to recognize my Sonos connect via coax digital as I did with xmc1. Works fine with optical though. Planning on connecting my oppo 105 via xlr in a few days and doing a/b comparison on dac in oppo via xlr vs dac in RMC via hdmi input.

PEQ? only if you've measured and know what to do.

The filters are only for people who want to use the Parametric EQ for room correction purposes. If you don't understand what to do with them, just leave them alone, and things will sound just fine. Once Dirac is available, it will automatically do everything (and more) that the PEQ could accomplish.

Under speakers. Has filters 1-13, I believe, available for each speaker.
