FYI - TIVO Bolt Update I purchased a 4K 4X2 Matrix switch from Amazon that supports Dolby Atmos, HDR, HDCP 2.2, etc. It also has an Optical Out for Sound if needed. I redid my Home Theater so the Outputs from the Switch go to the TV and the RMC-1. Basically I pulled the RNC-1 out of Video Duty and it just handles Audio. The Switch works flawless, super fast switching, rock solid video, even with older HDMI cables. Both the Roku Ultra and the TIVO auto-sense the TV at the Enhanced HDMI settings. I can also go back to a single cable to the TV reducing the complexity.... And, I now can add the new Soundbar via ARC on the TV for casual watching. The Family happiness number has gone up significantly. The only thing I lose is OCD from the RMC-1. This really isn't an issue because we really don't need to see the volume to see how loud it is. The Config is fixed already so there is nothing to change. The RMC now doesn't have to do any HDMI video switching and is very happy. Here is a link if you are interested. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TD81BDH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I will update this post if anything changes. But for the moment it was the best ~$125 I've spent :-) That kinda sucks that you have to look for a solution outside for video switching. I really love the sound on my XMC-2 but I am also having video issues with it. My Foxtel IQ4 (Aus cable Box) - I sometimes need to turn everything on and off several times to eventually get video through the XMC-2, with my HTPC, sometimes it loses video when I stop playing a video file and I have to reboot either the HTPC or the XMC-2. This was the same issue I had with my XMC-1 when I first bought it. Here we go again. HDFury makes some nice gear too for this. It is unfortunate we have these issues with the processors. I imagine we will experience more of the same once 8k boards are released. If you can implement another stable video solution without losing sync with audio, it may be better for the long term.

This is kinda what I was thinking, although I still am confused on why so many people choose to send PCM from their sources. I get it when an AVR or processor won't decode a codec, but not otherwise. I understand why some choose to send PCM instead of DTS because there's a huge debate on whether or not DTS is working properly on the Emotiva processors. Yes ; theoretically a bitstream being compressed has some advantages with jitter and its possibly preferable to let the decoder in the pre pro do it rather than a cheaper version in a media player But this 5.1 lpcm needs fixing as there exists early discs with 5.1 lpcm lossless like Apocalypto hddvd and Deja Vu a 16 bit 48khz sampling rate one on bluray

Along with the DTS issues.

I have only one connection issue with my RMC-1L and that's with my Dish 4K and my Samsung 82" Q90R. I need to set the HDMI input that he Dish is connected to HDMI 1.4 if it's set to HDMI 2.0 the RMC will occasionally freeze on start up. The only way to fix the freeze up is to restart the RMC. I see no difference in the picture quality between the HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 in the Q90R. I understand some other brands are also issues with Samsung's Connect One Box. Otherwise the I really have no issues just waiting for Dirac.

Moving from Dirac thread to here at the suggestion of AudioHTIT
Does anyone know if a new XMC iOS App is forthcoming to accompany the Dirac upgrade?
Cheers J

Cheers J Do you mean an app which controls the XMC? or the Dirac App which runs Dirac on a cell phone? I don't know of any new XMC/RMC Control App that would replace the one that's been available for the last five years which won't help with anything Dirac.

Yes, the XMC app, not really to enhance Dirac, more so as part of the 2.0 refresh for the XMC-2. One that you can actually manage the XMC settings from. Another nice to have would be browser access to the XMC-2
Cheers J

I just started work on an Android one, as in Android based remote control, but it won't work with XMC-1, at least not at first... only the XMC2/RMC-1/RMC-1L. When I get more details together I will be starting a thread.

Currently I use the app on my iPad only to bring the unit out of standby, adjust the volume, switch inputs, and if the wind is at my back, I might change modes.
Looking forward to the Android Thread
Cheers J

We are working on a revised app. Awesome. I have Alexa controlling the XMC2 volume via my Xbox 1S. Works pretty well turning it up, but poor gal is a bit hard of hearing to do much of anything else once the XPA11 gets cranked. LOL

Another nice to have would be browser access to the XMC-2 Cheers J it's been broken for ages. Broken? It has worked fine for me ever since I installed it. Don’t even have issues with network dropping. My router setup is DHCP with manually assigned IPs locked to MAC adresses. This way I can setup my RMC-1 with static IP. Works every time and have never noticed a network drop. Although looking simple and having ”XMC-1” logos the app works as intended. Having full setup and remote on an app in my iPad would be fantastic though. A good way for Emotiva to get a GUI without having to rewrite the whole processor code. Although having a professional GUI designer design the app would be a GOOD idea. Especially the speaker and input setup would benefit hughly with a graphical view of the connections and speaker placements. Speaker placements with setups above 7.1 is a mess with the text based menu system except for the hardcore users.

We are working on a revised app. Is there anything about it you can share with us? What’s new? Only design or a completely new app with additional features?

Dolby is apparantly releasing an update to Dolby Surround that will upmix to front wides.
Is this update something we will also be getting from Emotiva?
This is being talked about in Denon/Marantz threads on AVS.

I also wouldn’t call the XMC-1 app broken, but rather missing features needed for the new processors (and I might have done a couple things differently from the start, but that’s preference). The biggest problem I have with the app is when playing disks or streaming ‘complex’ material (4K, DV, Atmos), the network interface temporarily stops being serviced, so the app goes blank, but it does come back.

You can power the unit on, and control zone 2, but nothing else works. Been this way the whole time. The code I reworked using python and the network api works consistently as long as the network link is up.

I know you’ve done a lot of troubleshooting with this, but mine only ‘disconnects’ temporarily now (like I described above).

Fortunately, I'm able to leave my unit in the standby mode that allows TV to still work. Due to that, I'm not having to cycle the power much anymore, thus having more uptime on the NIC. If I lose power, or have to kill the power for any reason, it is a circus to get the NIC back online.
