No drum solo thread would be complete without an old battle between Phil Collins and Chester Thompson from back in the days:

Sing Sing Sing by the BBC Big Band - Great drums! (despite the fact that it isn't, technically, a drum "solo").
AND OF COURSE...

I would like to see a drum solo by Mick in his early years but sadly can't find any.

No drum solo thread would be complete without an old battle between Phil Collins and Chester Thompson from back in the days: Remember seeing them together in ‘77 at Winterland, the Genesis tour where they recorded “Seconds Out” (good live album!), also Chester with Weather Report sometime before that. Something special about double drummers.

Buddy Rich was amazing. Speed and power and a great sense of rhythm. He was probably around 60 when he did this performance. The Ventures drummer was something else too. But since I did catch one of their concerts way back when ... Bias?

Years ago I got to see Buddy Rich live and sat about 15 feet from him. Absolutely incredible performance. Here’s a video that some of you may have seen already but it’s still fun to watch. I briefly met Dave Weckl. Not overly talkative but very nice. He’s seen here on the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=czOjnlvHrQU

Allman Brothers; Eat a Peach; Mountain Jam . . . Actually, a drum duet!

One of my very favorites from Buddy has no video attached. If you want to hear it....1966 Buddy Rich Swinging New Big Band West side Story. (Album) Unless you’re a percussion student probably, you won’t get it. But after all these decades, I have never heard another drummer able to do what he does on that track. There are many versions of his performance and of that track but this is the one ☝️

Maybe not one of the best, but definitely one of my all time favorites!

Though not so technically challenging as the others mentioned in this thread, I submit Ringo's solo on "The End" from the Abbey Road album. m.youtube.com/watch?v=12R4FzIhdoQA true guilty pleasure.

Ringo, in many respects, was a great drummer. He did not have speed, he did not do overly technical moves BUT he was perfect for the Beatles music.
Try to imagine Moon or Bonzo being the Beatles drummer.
