So, it doesn't fully boot up? Try shutting it down and starting it back up....is it able to be used? If so, check the firmware...I've seen this happen where you think the firmware is not loaded...but it is. Now I have a conclusion that after powering off the xmc-2 multiple times or maybe cutting the power from the socket directly multiple times then the loading bar reaches the end and stays for few moments then the xmc-2 goes into standby. Such behavior means that the next time I click on the "on" button on the remote then the xmc-2 will power up after few moments (not directly) and I will be able to control it using the remote but as mentioned earlier, it takes up to 7 to 10 seconds to navigate the menu (navigation was responsive when I received the unit and stayed the same until today only after I tried to do the firmware update). I can see in the information menu that the firmware is 2.2 As mentioned earlier, that at this stage, there is no audio; only video. If that were my processor I would navigate to and initiate a Factory Reset.

Which means we posted at the same time. I suggested a Factory Reset first.

I removed all files from the USB drive and even formatted the drive (FAT32; even previously it was FAT32 as well) and tried to update and I reached the part where the title "Check D Audio" is displayed on the screen and as previously, the screen just stayed like this forever.
Firmware for 2.2

I did Factory reset (I even did previously as well) and still the same. I have video only; no audio and the startup, standby, menu navigation, any command (even increasing/decreasing volume) all is very slow. It is like everything is being done after a variable delay between 7 seconds to a minute. Even the on-screen-display stays active on the TV for a very long time.
The xmc-2 was working just fine before doing the firmware update which I decided to do because I wanted the unit to be up to date before starting the calibration as this is a new unit.

Well....maybe someone else can help....I don't have any other suggestions at this point....I suppose you could try to revert back to 2.1 and see if that works before calling Emotiva. I did not have any issues updating mine to 2.2. I know you are waiting for a response to your email, not sure how long that takes. I'm sorry....maybe ttocs can think of something else. Are you able to call them being you are not in the US? Keith and/or Lonnie.....if you see this...any suggestions? Edit: No CEC or ARC in play here, correct? What is your equipment?...TV? Sources?....how are they connected?....More info may help....are you using HDMI OUT 2 on the XMC-2 (main output)? I was searching around....try switching inputs from HDMI to an Analog input and back to see if sound comes back....someone way back got that to work on their XMC-1....worth a shot.

I'm summarizing the whole thing below:
- unit (xmc-2) received last week equipped with firmware 2.1 and the unit was working just fine. - I have the following setup: * Apple TV 4k 32GB connected to HDMI5 * Sony TV x900e connected to HDMI out 2 (with ARC) * 5 channels outputs connected to XPA-5 Gen3 * 2 channels outputs connected to BASX A-300 (back surround) * 2 channels outputs connected to BASX A-300 (height 1) * 2 channels outputs connected to BASX A-300 (height 2) * 3 channels outputs connected to 3 subwoofers
- with the above setup, today I tried to update to the firmware 2.2 but during the update I received the exception "err: Init EDA2" which stayed on the screen forever. So, a common sense, I pressed standby button on the unit for a long time the unit went to standby. I started the unit but the loading bar was stuck the end forever. I powered off the unit multiple times using the back AC switch and the socket switch itself as well and eventually the unit started but with a very slow menu navigation (a delay of 7 seconds to a minute) and the on-screen-display stays on the TV (and on the unit itself) for a very long time. So, I had video working but without audio at all.
- I managed to do factory reset which resulted in no change at all. So, I did firmware update to previous version 2.1 but the installation got stuck on the title "Check D Audio".
- Again, powering off the unit multiple times made me able to enter the menu settings very slowly and I disabled CEC, disabled "video on". I tried the firmware update to newer version this time (2.2) but once again the installation got stuck on the tile "Check D Audio".
- one more time, powering off the unit multiple times made me able to enter the menu settings very slowly and disabled "video on", unplugged all cables except for the power cable. I tried again the firmware update 2.2 but again the installation got stuck on the tile "Check D Audio".
- last time, powering off the unit multiple times made me able to enter the menu settings very slowly and plugged all cables. I tried again the firmware update 2.2 but again the installation got stuck on the tile "Check D Audio".
- did a factory reset again but still there is no change and the issue still standing.
Conclusion: After the firmware update to 2.2 (and even when trying to update back to 2.1), the version stays as 2.2 only with a very slow navigation (7 seconds to 1 minute) with video being available only; no audio at all. Any action is very slow and menu screen just keep being active on the TV and unit for a very long time.

Apparently ATV sends out a CEC signal which can cause issues even if Off...I never had a problem, but some have either "disabled" Pin 13 on the HDMI cable or purchased a "CEC-Less" HDMI adapter to prevent this. I doubt this is the issue, but it might be worth pulling the ATV HDMI cable....and see what happens.

Thanks; I went trough it already. I meant for you to post this issue there as it'll get more eyeballs since that thread is all about what is/isn't working. However it looks like you got enough of the players from that thread here, so no need. Time to call Emo, as mentioned.

I might eventually call the support which I don't prefer as the text/email writing usually brings better results as everything is documented with detailed description which can be shared among the support team members easily while avoiding confusion/miscommunication. Calls tend to leave you repeating yourself again and again and lead to misunderstanding. I would call just to follow up and demand better support.
Support already replied back asking about whether a red light can be seen from the top of the unit. I took a photo and shared it along with the whole summary of today actions.

My experience with Emotiva support has been very good at least in the US. I've called them in the past about two things: a failed ERC-1 remote (they sent me one for free even though the warranty was expired) and an issue with my XPA-5 Gen1 which went into protect mode after eight years of ownership. They offerred to repair it for a very fair fixed price or trade it in towards a new amp. I currently have an XPA-5 Gen3. I believe they will take care of you....it's just a shame that you are out of the country which makes things more difficult.

Update from support: "that red LED means that the EDA2 (DSP) board is bad"
They will transfer my case to another related member.
