I've just installed but I got the message "err: Init EDA2" and the message stayed for a long period. So pressed the standby button for a long period and the xmc-2 went to standby mode.
Now when I start the xmc-2, the loading bar reaches the end and stays there forever. I can't use the xmc-2 anymore.
I just received my unit last week which was having the firmware 2.1
Please advise.

You just got your XMC2? Man sorry to hear that - I’d call emotiva’s tech support instead of asking in the forums.

Someone else had a EDA2 issue just recently. I don't recall the outcome. Would try a search.
In the meantime:
Use the rear switch and power off for five minutes.
Power back up and see what happens.
Edit: Lonnie mentioned that CEC may be an issue....turn off any CEC options in the processor and source components.

Try unplugging everything including power for a few minutes. Then power up with nothing else connected. If the same error comes up, try the following.
Switch off the rear power switch. Wait a full minute. Press and HOLD the front power button, then switch on the rear power switch while still holding the front power button and keep holding it until a menu appears on the front panel. Wait two COMPLETE minutes, not less otherwise you're just wasting your time. Then arrow down to #4, arrow right to initiate test. You're looking for PASS on all results. If a FAIL appears, arrow left once, wait another minute and select #4 again. If FAIL is the result, wait a few minutes longer and select #4. Report a fail to Emotiva Support.
To clear the test mode the rear switch needs to be turned off.

Edit: Lonnie mentioned that CEC may be an issue....turn off any CEC options in the processor and source components. I powered off the xmc-2 multiple times later (maybe 5 times) and for the last one, I just left it alone for a very long time and it started up but there was no audio; video only and the navigation menu was not responding and later I noticed when I use the remote then the navigation responds after around 7 seconds. So, I kept navigating one by one until I reached the factory reset and did it but the slow navigation stayed the same and still there is no audio (video only). Therefore, I decided to do firmware update to the previous version 2.1 and I did (this time I disconnected HDMI cables first) but the installation reached a level where the title "Check D Audio" stayed on the screen for a very long period (around 15 minutes or more). So again, I pressed on the standby button for a long period and the xmc-2 went to standby and now once again whenever I start the xmc-2 then the loading bar reaches the end and stays there forever.

Before I followed the steps, I did a try to update to previous firmware version as I mentioned in my last post. Following is the result (I shared the same with emotiva support as well): 1st time: CEC Loopback I/O_FAILED 2nd time: all passed 3rd time: all passed

To clear the test mode the rear switch needs to be turned off. look at you with the secret sauce. 😊 When I was a carpenter many moons ago, I worked with an old timer that was very frugal. He was given a plastic squeeze bottle of Arby's sauce, and once that sauce was gone he used it for Elmer's Woodworking Glue that he would fill by buying the large containers when they were on sale. So any time I needed glue I'd ask for the Arby's Sauce! Emotiva tech support sent me the instructions when I had my XMC-1 for checking to see if CEC would pass or fail. Under normal conditions whereby the processor is functioning, the test could be initiated with only a two minute wait. But with an err code, or if the slow bug is happening, the wait time is increased. This test doesn't directly answer anything about the err code, but, it has been known to inject new life into a processor that won't otherwise bootup. So when all else fails, punt.

That was only the result for the mentioned steps. However, I'm still stuck with the xmc-2; still whenever I start the xmc-2 then the loading bar reaches the end and stays there forever.

And that's with an empty box, correct? Nothing connected? Just want to verify please. The USB stick you're using has only the one file on it for updating, correct? Nothing else on it?

So, it doesn't fully boot up? Try shutting it down and starting it back up....is it able to be used? If so, check the firmware...I've seen this happen where you think the firmware is not loaded...but it is.

Next time you are able to get a good bootup, I suggest deleting everything else from the USB stick except for the update file, then empty the trash, and update to a good known firmware. I had bad updates the two times I had anything else on the stick, so I use one stick for every update that has only the one file on it.

If so, check the firmware...I've seen this happen where you think the firmware is not loaded...but it is. Now I have a conclusion that after powering off the xmc-2 multiple times or maybe cutting the power from the socket directly multiple times then the loading bar reaches the end and stays for few moments then the xmc-2 goes into standby. Such behavior means that the next time I click on the "on" button on the remote then the xmc-2 will power up after few moments (not directly) and I will be able to control it using the remote but as mentioned earlier, it takes up to 7 to 10 seconds to navigate the menu (navigation was responsive when I received the unit and stayed the same until today only after I tried to do the firmware update). I can see in the information menu that the firmware is 2.2 As mentioned earlier, that at this stage, there is no audio; only video.

I would try reloading the firmware (2.2) at this point....ONLY the downloaded 2.2 file on your stick....ttocs?
