It's a Panasonic plasma, P65VT50 from 2012. It will be replaced by an A90J shortly, after it's "seasoned", calibrated and shipped to me.
Your post in the RMC/XMC general thread may have been the one I recall about a similar problem. I almost asked you there if you're using a Harmony remote. If you are, you might try powering on your XMC-2 first, and give it a 10 or 12 second delay before powering on your next component.

I just came across this video on YouTube and thought I'd post it in this thread just in case someone needs to repair their 650/665/700 remotes.

Is anyone with a Harmony Hub based remote also using a Hub Extender for ZWave? (pretty sure there’s at least one) After years of working well with a variety of ZWave devices, about two weeks ago all my ZWave devices stopped responding. My standard activities (TV, DTV, music, etc) all work fine so the Hub is OK. Those familiar with the Hub and Extender know that when used together the Hub get’s it’s power through the Extender, which means the Extender is at least getting power. I have removed power from the pair several times (which usually fixes these kind of problems), but no joy. I’ve also opened a ticket with Logitech, but when removing power didn’t work I was ‘escalated’ to the phantom zone where no one returns contact. I’ve wondered whether there’s a way to hook the extender to a computer via USB and do some diagnostics, but typical USB cabling doesn’t make that simple.
Anyone had an issue like this before that was resolved? I thought I’d bought a spare Extender when they were discontinued, but can only find a spare Remote and Hub. They’re overpriced on eBay, but I’d buy one if I knew it would fix the problem. Of course it’s so old school to have to go around turning lights and fountains on and off everyday. 😱
Edit: I can’t believe this (though it’s a bit like ‘car mechanic syndrome’) but I went to the Harmony App to take a screenshot and ZWave seems to be working again — although my scheduled activities didn’t start this morning. I’ve started and stopped them several times successfully so I’ll have to see what happens this evening. Standby! Edit two: So far, so good, dailies stopped on time, nightlies started on time, random choices too 🤞

I have a problem with my Logitech Harmony Elite and XMC-2. When I'm playing music, I've programmed my Harmony Elite to signal the XMC-2 to set Balanced Input and Reference Stereo. Both of these settings are shown in the XMC-2 display but after a few seconds the XMC-2 reverts to Surround and HDMI1. What is the problem?

What device is plugged into your HDMI 1 input and is CEC based “input switching” enabled…?

CEC is activated and the TV is connected to HDMI1

CEC is activated and the TV is connected to HDMI1 CEC is causing your problem... Look at the CEC preferences in your XMC-2's setup menu to see if "input switching" is enabled. If so, turn it off. See if that solves your problem. FWIW, trying to use both CEC along with a Harmony remote will always cause issues as they both are working against each other. In my system, CEC is only required to support HDMI-ARC. Therefore, CEC must be enabled. But to eliminate the issues that CEC causes, I use CEC-less adapters at the HDMI outputs of every source device connected. My Harmony Elite controls my system flawlessly, HDMI-ARC works reliably, and the other CEC related problems are entirely eliminated...

Well, that's a start. Turning off CEC doesn't. Meaning, it doesn't actually defeat CEC for all devices, like the Apple TV and Roku Ultra, just to name a couple. Sure, some CEC communication will be "stopped", but not all communication. Some of these devices will be able to communicate with others unless the pin in the HDMI cable is disconnected entirely by using the device Doc and Geebo mention. I now have five of the Lindy CEC-Less adapters and my sanity. Just recently I was testing something on my ATV4K so I removed the Lindy device. Suddenly, after about 30 minutes my tv shut down. Then the tv shut down again, and again, and again. Then I remembered that it's the ATV4K that was doing that via CEC when the ATV4K went to sleep. You see, even though I always disable Sleep on everything, I updated ATV4K a week prior but forgot to disable Sleep Mode again, so, . . . .
