You get credit then for pointing me there! Thanks, will check that out too. Customs huh... you in Canada? If so you can order for the distributor in Quebec and avoid all that.... link on MiniDSP site. I have to drive to the US soon (35 minuts south of Ottawa) so I may get one then but thinking of the new Flex unit

Nope - I'm in the U.S., in So California. That Flex unit looks interesting!
I went with the DDRC-88A so I have a lot of flexibility, and also for the balanced connection support (which the Flex also offers.) Additionally, the 88A offers an option for Dirac Bass Management, but I doubt that's the full-blown DLBC feature we're all looking for.

It has some sort of bass management plug in but I think that part is something MiniDSP developed to supplement their standard plug in you use to configure the DDRC-88A.

While browsing around for general background, I found an interesting "bass management" discussion. Apparently this affects Audyssey systems, and can be seen in this thread: www.avsforum.com/threads/set-dynamic-volume-and-dynamic-eq-to-on-or-off.3206488/Specifically, messages 7 and 11 there introduce some specifics that sound... like the flip side of our coin. Makes me wonder if there are any common factors.

Makes me wonder if there are any common factors. Well, sort of, but not really. But thanks for sharing. The Audyssey issue is specific to Audyssey and not the processor - necessarily(?). So in one way, it may be similar, but again, not really because it's not a BM issue, it's a calibration issue - as far as I can tell from glancing at the info. Our issue is a consistent Processor BM issue without Dirac and is repeatable, and, can be worse once Dirac is added, but is not a Dirac issue. But, it does come down to someone coding something and getting it messed up. If that's the case, then it's the same issue. Maybe the same guy coded both? Just kidding.

Has there been any update on this issue? I have been getting complaints from the rest of the family about the house shaking.

Thanks Marcl. I didn't notice the new firmware update. I updated the firmware and this seems to be a big improvement with my initial tests. I may still get some complaints about the house shaking, but at least I know it is not due to a glitch. ;-)

It's still not entirely clear to me, does this fix have any effect on single subwoofer setups? I run dual subs but off one output to a minidsp. Was hoping there would be a bit of explanation from Emo on this...

I'm slightly worried it's going to break something else so I've been waiting to hear other reports first...

A transparent process would assign issue numbers to user bug reports and then publish the numbers that have been fixed.

Just load it up and see. What firmware are you on now? 2.3. I'm slightly worried it's going to break something else so I've been waiting to hear other reports first... It didn't break anything. Update was a piece of cake and everything still works. Are you having exaggerated bass issues?

Are you having exaggerated bass issues? Do you use HDMI CEC? I'm mostly worried about that breaking, and knowing Emo doesn't test that (as far as I can gather based on previous posts) I would be in a bad spot if that stopped working. Also the fact they took down the links to the previous firmware versions would mean I'd have no way to revert unless I still have 2.3 downloaded somewhere. But yes, as far as I know everyone has the exaggerated bass issue, just depends on the severity of it depending on the setup. I noticed a what sounded like a 3-6 db increase when I went to v 2.3 back in July or whenever that came out.

Keith *did* say somewhere on the forums here that 2.3 will be available by request, so even if 2.5 causes issue for you, you should be able to revert.

I have two speaker presets one with a left and center sub with the center set as LFE only. The other preset only has the left sub active with the center set to none. All other speakers are set to small with crossovers between 60 and 120Hz. The bass in both presets has been reduced back to what I would call a more normal level from being up 6 or 7dB. And as stated above, 2.3 will still be available upon request.

I just installed 2.5. Will test in a few mins and report back. Nope still there. I put on Metallica S&M2 blu-ray and the bass was still significantly louder than other levels. Turned the subs down to -7dB and it helps, but not quite right. This is 100% BS
