I wonder if Dirac will be added to the MR-1. I’d be surprised if it did, it lists “the latest and most advanced version of EmoQ”, and Dirac seems like one of the distinguishing features between the BasX and XMC/RMC lines. Still seems like a pretty cool product.

What are the dimensions and will it support Spotify or airplay? I’m looking to upgrade my living room AVR but I want Spotify support.

This looks really cool for a receiver. What's the asking price? Saw one comment on AVS that said around $2K, but don’t know officially, we should find out tomorrow. It is now up on the website at 1999.00.

I remember paying $2,300 for my Denon 4802 or 4800, 7 channel surround receiver in 1998 (99?). the 6th and 7th channels were just rca outs and you needed to add another stereo amp to get 7.1 . with inflation that comes up to $4,129 in today's dollars. although I have an RMC-1L processor and a couple XPR amps, if was looking for a receiver, this would definitely be on the list. btw.... it definitely has more power than my denon had in those days. at $1999 I think emotiva is going to sell quite a few of these. I really like the looks. tchaik.........

Can't wait for the Firmware issues thread on this one.

If I was in the market for a receiver, I’d jump on this one. Very cool.

Saw the video, all other receivers are now put back in the box and shipped back to where ever they came from. This one for $2000.00 is the business. No Switcher, all the traditional stuff Emotiva is! I am glad Dan and Lonnie stuck to what Emotiva is about. Yeah, I dig!

I do need a receiver like this for the basement. Hopefully I can check it out at Axpona.
Also, if UFL applies to this, I may just order it sooner than later.

UFL was only applicable to pre pro's so you will have time to see how early adopters find things .. If its solid it should decimate the competition [ do any of them have decent all channel driven into 4 ohms ?] at this price..

Mine will be here tomorrow. I had just received the Marantz Cinema 40 on Tuesday and I couldn't pass the opportunity to make a comparison and keep the winner. More to come.

Not going to lie, after my experience a few years ago with the RMC-1L and the slew of firmware issues I am going into this a bit gun shy. I am hopeful that many of those lessons to smooth things out have been applied here otherwise it will probably sound great, but simply be too much of a headache to operate.
I just sold my JBL SDP-55 because of firmware issues though it was still leagues more reliable than the RMC at that time. I am confident the RMC has improved and probably isn't nearly as flakey as it was then. That is why I bought the CInema 40 because I hooked it up and it just works. Video switching and passthrough work. Audio decoding works as expected and the Cinema 40 is expected to receive the Dirac option this year.
The MR-1 doesn't exactly check off the boxes I was hoping for, but I can work around the lack of HDMI 2.1. I haven't used Emo-Q in years and am crossing my fingers it has improved. I wish Dirac were to be an option, but I know it won't be.

Anyone know what DAC the MR-1 uses? Just curious.

I think this unit is focused on competing with higher priced units from Denon/Marantz/Yamaha, etc. Plug in the mic,and run the software. It's priced well, more powerful than others, and looks great. If it's stable and performs, it will be killer.

Yeah... and, at 400 Hz, everything sings soooo pretty For those of you who don't know... The benefit of 400 Hz power, and the reason it is was popular on aircraft, at least until recently, is that it requires much smaller transformers than 60 Hz AC power. The downside is that 400Hz is much more audible to humans than 60 Hz - so, with 400 Hz power, you tend to hear the transformers, and even the wires in the walls, "singing". How about three phase 400 cycle power. Only way to go. 😅 Russ

To answer a bunch of questions all at once... Unlike typical "AV receivers" the MR1 really is two separates in one cabinet... It is basically just our MC1 processor with some very nice amplifiers added to make it a receiver... Therefore most of the relevant processor details are exactly the same for the MR1 as for the MC1. The MR1 uses the same Cirrus Logic CS42528 DACs as the MC1... And the menus and EmoQ are also the same... And, yes, the new version of EmoQ has a lot of new stuff... And that includes on-screen graphs and the ability to re-test individual speakers... The internal workings of Dirac Live are entirely different than for EmoQ so I doubt we will ever have Dirac for the MC1 or MR1. I wonder if Dirac will be added to the MR-1. I’d be surprised if it did, it lists “the latest and most advanced version of EmoQ”, and Dirac seems like one of the distinguishing features between the BasX and XMC/RMC lines. Still seems like a pretty cool product.

Thanks Keith for the answer on the DACs. I am very pleased to hear the use of Cirrus Logic continues as ESS implementations make me want to stuff cotton balls in my ears. CL and TI continue to be my favorite DACs to implement followed by AKM. I love the custom FPGA work that Chord and PS Audio do (to name a few), but that is a whole different ball game and I have never seen it attempted in the home theater space probably due to complexity and cost. I realize it is ultimately how the rest of the DAC stage is setup and not just the chip that makes the difference, but I swear everyone is using the reference design from ESS. Even the guys who say they are not (I'm looking at you HiFi Rose). Can't wait to hear the MR-1! On a side note, I feel Dirac is a bit overrated. I have used it extensively including the DLBC module (in my SDP-55) and it makes me want to pull my hair out. Needlessly complex to achieve mostly mediocre results. I am sure if you are a HT installer or simply an enthusiast who loves to endlessly tinker it is great, but at some point I just want to watch movies
