No, BasX products will stick with our Emo-Q room correction.
These products are designed to perform at high levels with high value in mind as well. If we start tacking on extras like Dirac then the price will increase.

I do need a receiver like this for the basement. Hopefully I can check it out at Axpona. Also, if UFL applies to this, I may just order it sooner than later. UFL was only applicable to pre pro's so you will have time to see how early adopters find things .. If its solid it should decimate the competition [ do any of them have decent all channel driven into 4 ohms ?] at this price.. I did email Emotiva and got that confirmation that UFL doesn’t apply. Yes I’ll take a wait and see approach. I may just go with a Denon - my kids need something that works 100% vs a higher performing AVR. The Denon I’m looking at is $1,199 so that’s a big savings as well.

Reviewers getting these ahead of release...Dan mentions one, but not sure who that is. Also, look at reviews for the MC1 as this receiver is basically an MC1 with great amps. www.youtube.com/watch?v=apuP9hQL5wU

The MR1 definitely shows promise and I’m in no hurry. I just can’t have a receiver my teenage son uses that has issues. Bug free experience is the priority then performance 😬.

If I were you, I would wait for reviews, both professional and owner and then make a decision. People will point out the good and bad and you can then make an informed decision.

While not in the same price range, I am presently using the Marantz Cinema 40 and it sounds awfully good. The MR-1 has its work cut out. I will report back once I have it in house. I tried the Anthem MRX-1140 and wasn’t super impressed. Same with the AVM 70 processor. The Cinema 40 sounds better so far. Maybe look at the Cinema 50 or even 60.

It was fixed under warranty but he wasn't a big fan of ARC. It sounded fine to me, but my friend is an engineer and a perfectionist and a tinkerer! Always trying to get better sound...he is now happy with Lingdorf! Way beyond my wallet.

I have owned them, McIntosh, Michi, Rotel, Anthem, JBL, PS Audio, Norma, and countless others. They all have their own sound and eccentricities. I am happy with my 2-channel system after several attempts (and a new 911 Turbo in spending in the last two years). Now I am trying to simplify my home theater by dismantling the unused dedicated room and merging some of the equipment in my living room with a goal of great sound and simplicity. So far, the Cinema 40 is fitting the bill, but I can’t help wonder about the MR-1 and the opportunity to maybe get even better sound and save a buck too.

Emotiva, you did it!!! I have not been following all that closely so, the MR1 took me by surprise. If this works well and smoothly as advertised, I believe you have a winner. Good for you. I have noticed a consistent improvement in your speaker quality over the years. You always have high-quality amplifiers. Now with this, you are offering a one-stop shopping experience for a home theater/stereo setup for new middle-upper-end customers. Customers that want quality but, don't want to research all the different parts to a complete set-up. Again, if this is a product that you plug in and it just works and works well. Emotiva quality well. I believe you will be bringing in a new group of customers to your house. Once they have a good experience, they will be looking at the next level of products you offer. In my opinion, the MR1 has the potential of multiplying your customer base. Congratulations!

I was really excited to see this as I own quite a bit of Emotiva amps and processors and was looking forward to this one for my living room system, but the HDMI 2.0b is a deal breaker for me. I have been looking at the Cinema 50, Anthem and Arcam all not much more than this one. Do you know if the Cinema 40 is about the same as the 50 with more power? I have never owned a Marantz product. I have owned Anthem in the past but replaced with the RMC-1. Don't want to make the same mistake twice.

The only real differences I know of between the Cinema 50 & 40 is that the 40 has a bit more power, the secondary display under the flip down lid, and is built in Japan. That's it. Whether that is worth an extra $1k is up to you.

Side-by-side comparison of the Marantz Cinema 40 to the MR-1. The Marantz almost feels like a toy...

Initial impressions are good straight out of the box. Seems a touch 'bright' with the B&W, but Emo-Q might help smooth that out. Played some music I listen to frequently and it sounds great. Quickly, played the beginning of Top Gun: Maverick and it passed through the Dolby Vision and detected the Atmos stream without any fuss. Sound was also very good, but keep in mind I am running a 5.1 setup. I can't truly comment on full Atmos. Menus are pretty antiquated, but they work. So far it is a keeper compared to the Marantz (which is $1500 more). While I will lament the loss of HDMI 2.1, I am positive that is not worth the $1500 premium. I will get things fully setup and report back. Pesky job keeps getting in the way

I’m one of the dying breed that still listens to AM & FM radio every day for hours…….. I wonder how good the tuner sections are?? I realize that most likely not much time design wise was probably spent in this area, just curious I guess. I’d like to get rid of separates someday though…..

After a couple hours of just music (both stereo and Atmos) I have to say the MR1 sounds really, really good. Nice staging, great imaging, and plenty of depth. I would gladly argue that it surpasses the Cinema 40. Why? Because it sounds more ‘organic’ than the Marantz. Better texture without being analytical or overly detailed. While it doesn’t really compare to my dedicated stereo (nor would I have expected it to) it is a very solid recommend for music given the value. I think most could purchase this for their music listening needs and never look back. Curious to see what happens when I run Emo-Q.

That is correct, it does not have a tuner.
