We've been discussing the possibility of an Emotiva Audio Streamer for some time now...
We've looked at a lot of options... And examined how we can make a meaningful entry into the audio streamer market... And a LOT of folks seem very interested in this subject...
ALL I CAN SAY FOR NOW IS THAT THIS IS GOING TO BECOME A REALITY IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE. We're not releasing any further details yet... so don't even ask... but we now have actual hardware and software lined up... So it is going to happen... soon...

There's nothing I can really talk about at this point... and some of what I "know" may still be subject to change. (However, this is actually moving pretty quickly, so I expect that to change soon.) I just mostly wanted you guy to know that it looks like it's really finally going to happen this time. And I think you'll agree that it was worth the wait. What I can say is that it has a really nice web-based interface with some really cool new features. Unlike most of our other products you're going to WANT to run this one from the interface. (And, while you can run it from a phone, you won't have to.) Do you have any further details?

We've been discussing the possibility of an Emotiva Audio Streamer for some time now... … Well, yes you have, and we’ve already been expecting something along those lines … built in to the G4P, as its advertised features include “ Music streaming capable”. But, since we already know about that, I assume you’re talking ( not going to say any more) about an outboard / standalone Streaming Box, possibly ( but I really can’t say any more) based on the same design as the ( announced) G4P streamer?

There is a need for another streamer?
I guess some of us could be curious. My BlusoundNode works just fine and I plan on getting the DMP-A8 as my upgrade path.
Thank you Keith, I’ll hold my breath… 1, 2, 3, 4, 5…xx9999 😬. What a cliffhanger! I did have a long day at work so it was pretty amusing I may add…

I might be in the market for a streamer soon. The strongest options for me right now are the Bluesound Node (Currently at $449) and the Cambridge Audio MXN 10 (Currently at $499). I'm curious if Emotiva can offer something compelling to compete with these two well reviewed and feature rich products.

A 1 or 2RU streamer would stack very nicely with the XDA-3. 😁

The inexpensive and affordable streaming market is pretty much being dominated by Wiim, and their support and updates are pretty good. The expensive and outrageous streaming market is already dominated by many as well. May be buy out Wiim, and just slap the Emovita logo on it and call it good!

YES... a separate box.
At the moment some of the physical details are still being discussed...
But we're talking about an actual "small unit" - not a full 17" rack mount - not a little tiny black plastic box either - probably an HDMI output to display stuff like album art on your big screen

The streamer is interesting to me, however, I'm not interested in paying a yearly subscription fee for Volumio software. If there is a subscription fee, I'll keep my JRiver/PC/XDA-3 combo, and suffer some granular loss of factoid details about the musicians and music I'm currently playing. If I want or need more information, I can use my own intelligence to look it up. Perhaps the AI feature is something I can turn off.
An HDMI output to display art is nice. I'd like a switch to turn off the video to save the screen from burn-in.

I know you can't discuss much at this time, but here's some food for thought.. - For an audio ONLY streamer is HDMI output necessary? As long as the device is controllable from a phone or tablet why go down the HDMI path? Muti-channel or spatial audio perhaps? Apple and other audio / video streamers already have that market share. Most phones can cast or screenshare these days, so video output is inherently covered. To display album art? Na... Roon and other software have that covered, plus what do folks do for multi-zone streaming... walk back into the other room to see what's playing? The HDMI board and other associated handshake issues may not be worth it in the end.
- Please design outside of the standard Emotiva "black" box full size chassis. Something sleeker, smaller that can sit beside or on top of other smaller components would be great. I truly appreciate your build quality, but there is no need to have a large box that when opened 3/4 of it is empty space. Think BasX A2m or smaller; however, it doesn't need to be full depth box either. Although the XDA-3 is a newer sleeker design, it still looks "heavy" with it's sharp thick black bars... the ET-3 is too basic looking. By all means please don't make it look like an Emotiva remote with input / output connections... I'm thinking Egos and XPS-1... they might sound fantastic, but not a fan of their aesthetics.
You have an uphill battle for sure... that being said, looking forward to seeing what is released. Keep in mind that you have a loyal customer base that have been a part of your community for years... hopefully some can help test and or participate in some of your designs or sticking point decisions.

HDMI wouldn't be necessary for everybody but I would prefer it because I prefer using my Harmony remote and seeing everything on the big screen. So there is definitely need at least in my case.

It will be an Emotiva product. Quirky? That’s an Emotiva trademark just like the black cosmetics with blue lights. A successful addition to the Emotiva line? Again, almost certainly. I have high confidence that Emotiva will make money on it. Emotiva succeeded in the already crowded home theater market (I thought they’d lost their minds and would go bankrupt - I was wrong). So let’s see what we see - could be fun!

Different assumptions... I'm assuming the streamer would be controllable from a phone or tablet app; you're assuming it would have some sort of UI that needs a remote control. I'm simply saying that IF it's controllable from an app, there is no need for HDMI port as the phone app can be casted to a TV, projector, etc. to display album art. Even if it only has a web based UI, there is no need for an HDMI port as you can hit the web based app from any device... PC, phone / tablet and cast it to any display. If it's ONLY controllable from a UI with a remote control, then sure, HDMI would be a welcomed addition for album art.
