After my experiences with eD, I am happy to recommend them also!!! eD is a great company and makes some great subs. I'd like to hear Emo's subs to know how they compare.

it`s to bad the mfw-15 has had more then a few issues because it`s really a awesome sub the new amp fixed a lot of the problems , but they still had QC problems , but over X-mass I guess they soled over a thousand and the complaints are minimal so it looks like there getting a handle on the QC , I haven`t had a problem with my mfw-15 and in fact it`s exceeded my expectations and I`m no longer looking to upgrade my subs unless I move to a bigger place then I will buy another mfw-15 even with the possibility of having some issues because I know they will take care of me and I can`t see getting a better sub then this for the price. note; MLS offered to call me and help even though the problem wasen`t with the sub ,but was with my dish cable giving me a ground loop hum I consider that above and beyond serves

About those AV123 subs with the amp problem - I had one of their 10" subs. A little over a year ago I noticed an intermittent buzzing. Soon, the buzz became permanent. Since it was out of warranty, I replaced it with a Hsu sub (which I am very happy with) and donated the AV123 to Goodwill. I thought either they could figure out how to fix it or else it would make a nice piece of furniture! I didn't even think about contacting AV123 because the warranty had expired.
Now I've been reading these threads talking about the defective amps in the subs, which seems to me is the same problem I had. A couple of days ago I sent them an e-mail asking about this but in the meantime I thought I would post this on the Emo forum and ask what AV123 did to remedy this situation. I don't have my receipt anymore but they should have me on file as purchasing a sub from them, back in 2005 or 2006. Were they sending out replacement subs or amps to people?

What would probably be ideal for me would be two subs since I have smaller fronts. Now the only thing is how the hell do you do that and what size? I really dont have a large room right now and am not a huge bass monger like some. Maybe two 10" with the new UMC having the balanced input could I not use it if hooking up two subs?

Haha that is true bigred never even thought of that. Thinking it would be nice to be prepared for a larger place if and when I move.

Coming to this forum has been great. I've learned a ton of technical and other usefull info, and find everyone here to be kind and helpful. Emo shares upcoming equipment ideas, and gives us a glimpse of where they are heading. That said, all the information about products that have not come to market yet make me second-guess myself on purchasing equipment more than at any other time of my life. Just when I think I KNOW which sub I'm going to buy....BAM! New Emo subs on the way. I thought I knew which pre-amp I would purchase, but you end up waiting for something you hear is coming down the pike. I've been considering speakers, but now there is a new line of speakers coming, and the reference line is expanding. I'm telling you, you guys are driving me crazy. Never before have I wanted products as badly, or had as much information on these products, and had absulutely no idea which direction to go in! It's a curse I'm telling you! Anyway, I have a suggestion for speakers. Design a line of speakers that are thinner and taller to fit a larger amount of rooms more easily. This has been a popular speaker design trend that makes a lot of sense for anyone that doesn't have a dedicated music or ht room. Sincerely, Thoroughly Confused

Any thoughts on Emo producing a "wireless" sub? [i.e., the pre-amp signal] I've gone to great lengths to keep speaker cables out of the theater room, but find that you can only pre-wire so much. Subs don't always sound best where you'd like them to go. It would be nice to move them around without having to run cable... or having to have a 30' RCA so you can drag it around the room to find the right location.

I wonder about the accuracy and detail you would get with a wireless sub or speakers.

It`s never truly wireless you need to plug it in somewhere for power

It`s never truly wireless you need to plug it in somewhere for power winner winner chicken dinner. So many people forget about this...They ask for convenience, but unless you have a power outlet where you want it to go your SOL. Wireless sub technology is supposed to work just fine. Even the Hsu ULS has a wireless sub connection.

I wonder about the accuracy and detail you would get with a wireless sub or speakers. Good point. But most sub outs are not a pure analog extraction.

OK stupid question perhaps. There are 2 inputs, one is balanced and the other is unbalanced. Why is there a left and right input on the unbalanced (summed) when typically the sub out is one cable? My current sub has a LFE input and i can't remember what else, but not a left and right in.

when subs have both a left and right input as well as the LFE input, they give you two options. If you use the LFE input, you bypass the sub's internal crossover. If you use the left and right input, you use the sub's crossover.
That's my understanding of it anyway.

Makes sense thanks. Apparently, I will have to use an RCA splitter on my sub RCA out or just go with a balanced cable.

Just curious is the actual subwoofer (speaker driver) your design or is it borrowed from another manufacture?

It`s never truly wireless you need to plug it in somewhere for power True enough, but I have outlets spread evenly throughout my theater room. My "power cable" run will be minimal. It's the RCA cable that's the limiting factor for me. I'd eventually like to have two subs in my theater room, and they will most likely be on opposite ends of the room. I don't want to re-introduce cable sprawl after spending so much time and effort to keep the wires hidden. So far, my choices are find a wireless transmitter/receiver combo that will work with the line level signal going to the sub, or go with a Hsu wireless unit (or two). While I might be hesitant going with full range wireless speakers, for the limited bandwidth needed for a sub (and the fact that it's the lowest two octaves), I'm not too concerned with sound quality issues. The biggest concern would be interference introduced by other wireless devices.
