Still a work in progress. Not a lot of info on them. Judd, Thanks for reminding me of the one thing about EmoFest I wanted to forget. ;D Not sure how you forgot... it's all you talked about for 2 days ;D So when shall we expect to see a pic of your room with a new TV?

I've narrowed my choices down to the Panasonic 58in G20 or G25 series or the Samsung 58in 6500 series. I'm not sure if I really need a 58in flat panel that big where the sitting position will only be 14 ft away. Maybe a 50 or 54in would suffice. I'll be going out in the morning to check them out in person, gotta love being on vacation! Sorry for getting way off track, it was Judd's fault for getting me started! ;D Now back to the topic at hand, the ERS subs or even the newly mentioned X-Series subs from EmoFest.

Gentlemen:
Our optical block went out on a Sony 60" SXRD TV so we've been watching a green cast screen for a few months in anticipation of seeing the new models of TVs.
Well, didn't go the 3D route but got a good deal on a LG 60PK950 60" INFINIA Series 1080p Plasma HDTV along with a Square Trade 4-year warranty all for just under $2500.00 delivered.
We've had this set now for 3 weeks and are extremely pleased with the overall picture quality...

A 58" from 14' back isnt exactly a big picture. At that distance 60-65" minimum, honestly if room light can be controlled Id toss the flat panel idea and go with a PJ in the 121" range. 4 times the size, and probably less expensive to boot.

Back to the subs, these got kicked behind X-subs in the queue, right? Those aren't a new name for these.
I saw some little mention and now I can't find the thread.

At Emofest this year, I asked Big Dan about the status of the ERS series sub-woofers and he said that with all the other items in the production schedule they had been delayed but are still a viable product and that they expect them to ship first quarter of next year. Dan said this was a product geared toward the more advanced user and would have lower demand than many of the other items in the pipeline.
It had initially been scheduled for release this summer, but after seeing the user feedback on the UMC they decided that the ERS needed to be as idiot proof as possible so Lonnie totally re-wrote the graphical operating system. The ERS allowed the user control of the sub woofer at a level very few users have ever experienced and that their lack of familiarity could possibly have resulted in many users becoming very lost and frustrated in learning how to use it. This is why Lonnie felt he had to redesign the interface to ensure "normal" hobbyists would be able to use the ERS subs. The GUI interface will gives the user total control, in real-time, of the room equalization. All parameters are user adjustable. It will be a "tweaker's wet-dream".

If I had the room for a 65" Panny plasma and was sitting 14' away, the 65" would be a no-brainer. 58" would be the absolute smallest. We have a 50" and I sit for normal viewing at 7 feet.

Does anyone know what specs Emo is aiming at with the ERS 212? Although I'm using 2 ultra 12s, I'm thinking of stepping up to 4 subs. But, I want a 12" pair that goes a bit deeper than the Ultra 12s. I looked at the Velodyne DD 12. The specs are impressive @ 17-120 Hz +/- 3dB & 107dB @ 20Hz with <1% harmonic distortion. But, at $3K each, I'm out!

So, what are the chances the ERS-212 will be released BEFORE the $100 certificate expires?

Per this: myhometheater.homestead.com/viewingdistancecalculator.htmlYou need a 103" screen for a 14ft viewing distance to have the "real deal" cinema experience.

There is still an inside scoop on this and I am sworn to my silence but I would buy what you want to buy when you want to buy it and would not hinge any decisions on this product release. If and when it comes out then make your logical choice would be my recommendation to any and all that have this product as top of mind. It's not a bad thing -- just not a now thing -- so we should give it some space.

I had a XBR2 60" and Sony gave me a free 60" LED TV because of it. Do a search on google to get more information. Also on Facebook there is a club on there about these bad TV's. All I did was a make post on there about how crappy Sony's quality was and the next thing I know a Sony rep is wanting to send me a new TV. Obviously I surrendered any judgement in the lawsuit.
