^ I'm wondering why not more people use just a Oppo 103/105 Blu-ray player. They do speaker/bass management. No processor or AVR needed. +1 I'm wondering why not more people use just a Oppo 103/105 Blu-ray player. - Because they are expensive..., maybe.

I will be buying nothing until the Rotterdam affair opens! Me too and if it takes to long before the Rotterdam opens and XMC-1 will be delayed again then I'll seriously consider to buy a non Emotiva surround processor. I'm curious what kind of features the upcoming ARCAM AV950 will have... The first feature will be a 5,000 euro price tag...

The Oppo BDP-103 uses inferior DACs, whereas the Oppo BDP-105 is more expensive than the UMC-200 (even, if you live in Europe), it lacks the astounding Emo-Q Gen 2 feature of the UMC-200, and it lacks the astounding all-analog preamp functionality of the UMC-200. With the Oppo comes a blu-ray player and one or two additional features for free

With the Oppo comes a blu-ray player and one or two additional features for free They certainly do not come for free, and all of them are totally useless to me to begin with. [ I own 28 TB of external harddrive storage, so no need for me to futz around with optical media except for the sake of starting to rip them within seconds after they have been unwrapped and taken out of their box].

(That I'm willing to spend if the Arcam contains all the features I want and the XMC-1 still stays "vaporware".)

^Fine but some may consider a front panel input a bug and not a design decision! But last time I checked It is a universal player and not a processor. Sure one can use the back of a screwdriver as a hammer but it's not the same. Now, please let us get back on topic.

Sure one can use the back of a screwdriver as a hammer but it's not the same. Please check again. It comes with decoding, speaker/bass management. Now, please let us get back on topic. Sure, you've kept the discussion about Oppo running.

^ Well those ill-mannered users post off topic all the time, but mods?
By the way, when is the European branch opening?

For information on the timing of opening an Emotiva European branch you'd have to contact Emotiva. Mods are not employees of Emotiva.

I probably should've used a smilie. The point was, mods should never post off topic. That's why they're mods, right? For information on the timing of opening an Emotiva European branch you'd have to contact Emotiva. Mods are not employees of Emotiva. Will do.

^ So what you're saying is mods can post off topic as much as they want as long as they "keep this place civil for all to enjoy and keep people on topic"? I want to become a mod too! I think I'm qualified:
Now can we please get back on topic for this thread?

markusv2,
First I never said "mods can post off topic as much as they want". You said that. Stop trying to twist things here.
Second, you are the one who derailed the thread in the first place, remember? I sent you a PM asking you to open a thread in the green room if you want to carry on. Yet you still insist on continuing here. Don't.
Please feel free to not reply to this post.
