I would just like to throw in my two pennies about Emotiva. Emo is not the only company out there that cares about its customers, but at least they are ONE of them. Are they the best? I couldn't say, but all I know is that I am a satisfied customer and I am happy with the purchases I have made. I think what big Dan has written is far better than what you can expect from the majority of CEO's in the industry. This may not make much sense to anyone but I'll share it anyway. I just returned from a 3 day training managers conference in San Diego. One of the seesions that I attended was about a study and survey done on 96 CEOs of major companies about what their thoughts and issues were on training their employees. They all had the option of getting the survey results at the end and 0 / ZERO requested the results. Now, if a typical CEO doesn't even care about their employees, are they really going to care about their customers? Of course not!!! They care about the MONEY only...... +1 for Dan and staff and Emotiva!!!! ;D

Maybe if Akio Toyoda spent more time building cars than filling out surveys... Chuckie, do you approve or should I delete?

Sorry for muddying up the thread, I didn't know you and Dan were having a special "moment". I'll dim the lights and step away. Just having some fun, loosen the belt a notch Sorry, but I don't particularly care for your brand of fun. Chuck....you need to get some fresh air, no matter how hard it's raining outside.

If it does not will the "fanboys" at least admit Emotiva is not perfect and they screwed up ? Bill I don't know of anyone here who thinks Emotiva is perfect. They make mistakes like any company that is run by humans. I am a big fan for many reasons which I have already mentioned in my numerous posts. However, I have in fact voiced criticism when I thought it was warranted. I was impressed how Big Dan has solved this issue even after the many delays and glitches. He IMO has ended up bending over backward to solve the issues. He has offered to pay shipping both ways for anyone wanting to return a UMC-1. He has extended the 30 day return period. He has spent additional money on the UMC-1 while still not raising the price. This is a small company folks. He has more to do than personally answer each of your *bleep* and complaints. His last post impressed me greatly. I have been involved with many sales firms large and very small. IMO he is simply the best I have seen and I haven't even personally met the man. To me what separates the men from the boys in company presidents is not what they do when they have delays and screw ups (they all do!), it is how they solve the problem. When they come out in full view and address the booing crowds and make command decisions that correct the issues, that is what gets my admiration. The purpose of my thread was not to write a fan boy post but to sincerely thank him for his efforts. If I had known my post would bring the rude and negative sharpshooters out of the woodwork I never would have started it. If I could I would delete it but I can only delete my individual posts (someone please correct me if you know how I can simply delete the entire thread). I am disappointed and feel embarrassed for Mr. Laufman that he even has to read the negative posts above. That was not my intention. I thought for just once we could put the criticism aside and give him some extremely well deserved credit. Sorry that I the negative types couldn't keep their mouths shut just this once. (How about some of you 288 folks who have viewed this thread already and appreciate that you can buy a 5 channel amp for $799 or a pre-pro for $699 because of a company with Dan Laufman as president step up to the plate and say thanks and drown out the boos). (I hope all understand that I also imply the fine efforts by Cathy, Lonnie, Dann and all the staff at Emotiova ... just wanted Big Dan to stand up and taker a spotlighted bow) +1

I would classify it as common sense. Extreme praise/criticism should be allowed, but it should also be moderated. The nay sayers got the sand box, and the extreme praise people? They get to stay in the public light, which is fine, but it should be in the off topic section. You can certainly go through my posts. I've made no enemies here, and unfortunately, it appears as though you are taking offense to this. I would like to come to the forums and not have to read through this. Asking for an off topic, topic to be moved to the appropriate area should be an easy enough thing to do. So I was right, it just annoys you. You could have just read my first post and moved on. My Point exactly.

Let's just go dig up some unobtanium!! Emotivians discover a rare find of unobtanium--the key ingredient to making Emo products so powerful and long lasting!! ;D
Truth is-Emotiva staff walks the talk when it comes to their values, strategy, mission and vision. That's something most companies can't say they do!!! +1

Well said chuckie and a very nice post indeed. I am a first time Emotiva owner with the purchase of my umc-1 and my experience so far has been very good. I look forward to the sw update and I also have an xpa-5 on backorder. I hope to be a repeat customer and an Emotiva VIP on the boards.

Emo had me at hello.....
Well not exactly, but they had me the day they sent me the cool LED logo keychain and a letter explaining the delay of the UMC.

I am a bit of a realist. It is all great most have been very happy with the company. I am sure they appreciate the great comments and ongoing support, however I can only comment on the one purchase I have made with them, which was great by the way. The quality is amazing and I cannot believe I got the deal I did. On the other side of the coin,,,there has been long lapses of time where nothing was communicated with people at all about the release or status of the UMC which I feel could have been addressed better. It missed its targeted date a couple of times. I understand this is just one item but it will also only be the second thing I have bought from them. It is just a pretty simple point I guess as to some insight of why some people might not feel quite as "fanboyish" as others. No harm meant by this and just a thought like everyone else has on here. I originally did sign up very early April of 2008, still have not received my confirmation email yet which I understand must be from the reconfirmation of the preorders so thats why I feel both good and somewhat blah about the big E...

Agreed...I'm bothered by the fact that they put up specs on the XMC-1 and then have ignored 20 pages worth of questions. Not to mention the XPR-7 which Dann noted was going to receive an update by Christmas, and no further explanation has been provided at all. XSP-1? Yea, another one that isn't being discussed at all. For all we know they've scrapped plans for all 3 items... But, as others have said, the items I've actually been able to purchase from Emotiva have been great, as has any follow-up service that's been necessary due to problems or questions.

PS. Chuckie, although I agree with many of the points you've made, I'm more reserved in my enthusiasm, but still love my EMO equipment.
Like Snodog, I'm still puzzled by how some people are getting their units shipped to them who recently ordered while others who signed up on day 1 have yet to hear a word.

I think it would be great to get these people some/any info on status,if they have it.I think Dan did say he would have to fill upgrade orders and first time buyer orders together.I bet Emo really wants all the people here that have waited so long to get one too. I also waited since the first day of the first preorder for mine,it was worth it 100%.

I could have, yes. You also could have posted your off topic, topic appropriately, but didn't. When I go onto this forum, and choose to read about processors/preamps, I go to the Processors/Preamps section. I didn't click on the off topic section as I do not wish to read about Emotiva praise in this case. The entire admin/mod team seems to think this is a good way to organize a board? Fine. Finding useful information in a place that doesn't condone this, and even instigates it further will reap what it sows. It's just poor organizational skills and far from professional.

Note: I take your continued posting on this matter as clear flaming harassment. I encourage anyone who agrees to PM Dann and ask that he remove your posts from this thread. I agree - only "Emo be praised" posts should be allowed in the Lounge.

Finding useful information in a place that doesn't condone this, and even instigates it further will reap what it sows. It's just poor organizational skills and far from professional. Look it, if you read my first post including the direct link to Mr. Laufman's comments specifically about the his latest actions on the UMC-1, you would realize that my comments were directly related to his actions concerning the UMC-1. I was inspired to start the thread right after I read his post. I choose not to repeat his words because I figured you could read them for your self. If I had repeated his words I would probably have been criticized for that by you. BTW, did you see the title of my thread? Comment - Big Dan's Definitive UMC-1 Status Thread Do you notice the part where it says: UMC-1The UMC-1 happens to be a processors/preamp and I placed the thread concerning my thanks for his actions in the Processors/Preamps section of the Emo Lounge. Note: I take your continued posting on this matter as harassment. If you object to my thread please contact the moderator about it. Perhaps you should have titled your thread a little differently, that's all..this is just a praise post by you about Dan's comments and company..not about the processor at all..You could have easily linked to his comments if you choose to from any other forum..I'm not flaming you or anyone at Emotiva at all, just stating the facts as they are..not as you see them. While I do agree with your sentiments about Big "D" and the company..both are excellent..posting a praise thread..or Thank You thread.. should be noted as such for those who don't want to read them .. If you have an issue with folks getting their panties in a bunch over your post..don't..they have their opinions..as I do as well as you do.. I think the company knows most folks here are very appreciative of their efforts..and while they like the praise..they really don't like all the needless bickering..They can and do take thoughtful constructive critisim well..and usually put it to good use..So let's keep it civil and keep it friendly without having to have them take time away from getting our goodies to us just to keep the peace here... Mac
