why couldn't there be an option for both basic 2ch and all channel stereo? I love listening to my music in all channel stereo mode. When its time for me to have my UMC-1 can I perhaps get this option back I would like to heavily second this. I know there is hot debate over 5-channel, and even how "best" to implement 5-channel, but it seems that having a 5-channel stereo mode is an age-old standard that many people still enjoy today. I also don't think that the standard "stereo" mode should ever be 5-channel. It seems both options should be readily available on any modern processor or AVR. Not trying to be a contrarian but I prefer 2-channel only for music. Thanks.

Try PLIIx music mode, it's excellent! Much better than all channel stereo IMHO

I don't want to be a pain in the "*bleep*", and I don't even have my UMC-1 yet... But, Is there any plans to support flashing the UMC-1 with something other than a MS Windows system (I don't even own one...) P.S.: Need help with a Apple OS X driver/usb interface? Ok, so, I don't really need an OSX install, but I tend to agree that a non-Windows-based install platform would be helpful. I am using Win7 x64. The installer for the updater hangs at "Checking for previously installed components". I have tried running the program in various compatibility modes with no success. Lonnie, is there any sort of telnet / rlogin / ssh supported update method that you could send me? Alternatively, could you send me the DLL registrations that the installer performs? I extracted the installation files, so I could manually register the appropriate DLL's for functionality.

OK, anyone have any luck trying to install this using bootcamp on OS X? The installer just hangs for me. Also hangs using VM Ware. You've GOT to be kidding... I am sorry if you are having issues with getting the loader to run on your system. We would be happy to update it for you.

Give me some more info. I have both Parallels and VMWare on running XP SP3 images and I can try the installer. I don't have a UMC-1 yet to flash, but if it is just the install process that is blowing up, I can try and replicate. Raymond

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what is the plan for getting the updates installed on 'yet to be delivered' units? I told them to put mine on hold until this firmware fix was done. Now that it is done, when should I expect the other units to be updated and distributed?
Thanks.

Just wanted to comment for the Mac/Apple folks out there. The Wise Installer and USBx driver install ran just fine for me in a XP SP3 VM. I have a working application. Just need a UMC-1 to try and update... but I am confident it would work.
Working with rat via PM to see if we can resolve his issues. I am also happy to help any other Mac/Apple users that may run into issues. Just PM me.

I haven't touched a Mac since the 80s Which tells you how old I am and how far behind the times I fallen ;D

Just made the switch to Apple a year ago (Vista drove me over the edge ). Because of my work, I still use a lot of Windows apps under misc. VM tools. Worse case we may have to create a new VM image for Rat, but I am sure we will figure it out. Rayo

I think the umc is outputting to high of a gain on the center output. I tried different cables, different speakers, different amp and it always goes into protect mode when it gets to the center channel on emoq. I ended up unhooking the center and running emoq without it and the results were terrible. I ran it three time. The speaker distances on the fronts would change from 9.1 to 12.5, it set the crossovers on my fronts to 250hz, set nothing for the subwoofer. Set the subwoofer output to -50. Also something really strange after it ran the crossover setting for the subwoofer part it went to the screen to show the results and then it ran the subwoofer part again. It is even setting speaker levels that I don't have hooked up the the back left and right.

Try PLIIx music mode, it's excellent! Much better than all channel stereo IMHO I'm gonna have to go with the guys here and ask that you do an all channel stereo mode some time in the future if at all possible. PLIIx is perfect for when I'm listening to a music concert or something, but when I'm listening to a vinyl through a tube phono, or a lossless 24bit track through your XDA-1 DAC, I'm not going to want to process the audio any further.

I did the update twice. Same effect. I think it may be a hardware problem. Before the update when I manually adjusted the speaker levels when I increased the center channel level by .5db it would jump up 6db. On my previous receiver the 3 front speakers were within 1db on the settings, on the umc I had to lower the center at least 5db to get it calibrated.

Here is a status from my update attempt just now.
I am receiving a "programme control MCU fail!" error status at step 17 after approximately 2 minutes. I have followed the instructions to the letter including step 18 (retry); I received the same result - error status, with the 2nd update attempt.
I will leave the UMC-1 powered off for now, sit back and wait for additional feedback from others.
Hopefully, others have been successful with the update.

Anyone trying this with Parallels 5 and windows 7 (home, 64bit) on the Mac? I keep getting the message that Windows 7 can't verify the digital signature of the drivers. Installation says it worked OK, but in the Emotiva updater the little icon at the bottom has a red X through the connection. I don't have any legacy PCs around to try it on. Does this mean all Mac users will have to send their units in for firmware updates? Not good.
