I believe if you contact Logitech and give them the codes you want them to use and they will make up a profile for you or at least that is what others have done. Lonnie, You suggestion works great for those who's remotes are still within the 90 day support period. It also works for those who are fortunate enough to get the discrete codes added from an e-mail to Logitech or who are frequent Logitech supporters on their forums. It does not work well for some people who are just plain unlucky! They can not get the discrete codes added period. I am a long time Harmony, RTI and URC user. I do have a contact inside Logitech, BUT it uses up favours getting it added to my account. Now I note that users (who actually created Logitech's DBMS) and adding all kinds of crazy stuff to Logitech's database. There is an Emotiva selection and an Emotiva Audio selection. The settings and available commands for the UMC-1 are quite different on both. It would be nice to see Emotiva make nice with Logitech, URC, RTI, Pronto etc and get the correct names and codes (including discrete) into the DBMS for the remotes made by the major players instead of asking the end users to take on this task. Just my $0.02 c Canadian... A UMC-1 preorder person who waits quite patiently... lol I honestly don't have an issue working with any of remote companies, but if you check out an earlier post I believe you will see where we have tried many times to contact them with no luck. emotivalounge.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=preamps&thread=9528&page=1#144221

There is an Emotiva selection and an Emotiva Audio selection. The settings and available commands for the UMC-1 are quite different on both. Although they are next to each other in the Logi database, Emotive (with an e) Audio is a different company (think tubes)

Sweet Hex Success! Logitech added the UMC-1 HEX codes to my account. I sent the entire list, and was worried about what would happen to the existing codes in the DB. Logitech kept the existing codes, and added the new ones to the list. I can tell the difference by the case of the text. The old codes are mixed case, and the new HEX codes are all caps. Not sure if this is common practice or my tech did this on his/her own.
I loaded the Harmony One up with the direct Input codes and everything works as expected. In addition, I now have Dolby Volume on the remote as well as other cool features.
Thanks Lonnie, You people at Emo ROCK!

Whom did you brib? Did you pay for a support call? I've been waiting 5 days, and no joy...

Doesn't the Harmony line allow HEX code input? Sorry, if I am mistaken on the Harmony end of things, but for URC it only takes about 5 minutes to add all of the Hex codes.

Just checked mine and logitech added them. I emailed them on Friday. I never got a return email saying they added them. Checked under additional buttons and they are there.

The remote was bought new in January. I guess the email support link will disappear after awhile, but it's there now.

Just spoke with Logitech. You can get HEX codes added to your account WITHOUT opening a paid support ticket. They were extremely helpful. Once received it apparently the SLA is 72 hours. Fingers crossed

got the codes added into my logitech database. Now how do I go about setting up the remote with Activities to ensure it goes in the correct discrete input every time?

I just went to Logitech harmony site and the UMC-1 was listed under AV receiver- emotiva then typed in UMC-1. Low and behold there it was. I have not tried every function, but the ones I have tried seem to work correctly. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Wow Logitech are on their game today. Codes are loaded into my profile.
acsubie - what you have to do is then go in and assign YOUR inputs to the HEX code inputs. It's a little long winded but I've just done it and it works a treat. So go into the Harmony software and for the UMC-1 AV select "Adjust Inputs". You'll then get a UI with pictures of remotes; Select Method 2 - this is the difference. You are effectively telling Harmony you have a remote with dedicated buttons (which we don't but we have the direct HEX codes). Next is the trial and error piece; you need to match up your inputs to the pre-defined HEX ones. Mine weren't too bad:
DVD = HDMI1 CABLE = HDMI2 AUX1 = Optical 1 VCR = Component 1 SAT = Component 2
So you have a little bit of mapping to do. Then I just tested and worked out the ones that were wrong and went back in and did some more config. Took me a couple of hours; but now it's functioning great. Good luck!!!

Steviet1000 - what method did you use to contact them? Have you had the remote longer than the 90 day support window. I have tried the email method posted above two different times and get their canned response of my remote being out of the 90 day window and that I have to pay.

Sounds like I got lucky. I spoke to a really nice, helpful French Canadien yesterday and got it sorted in a day. You basically go through the per incident $29 number but then tell them you don't have a problem but you are missing HEX codes on your account. Logitech then validate your account and email. Make sure you have this 100% - they will then open up a Support incident and send you an email which you reply to with the HEX codes. I then received an email back from then:
Brief Summary H890 - Need to add hex codes to the account Discussion Thread Response (George) 02/20/2010 02:52 PM Dear Steve,
I was able to convert the hex commands and add them to your AVR. Can you please update the remote and test the new settings. I do apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.

Many thanks for your helpfulness on the call. Please find enclosed the HEX codes for the Emotiva UMC-1 A/V Receiver. Could you please add these to my account.
Many thanks, Steve
GOOD LUCK!!!

I think you got lucky - I tried email 2 times and called after reading your post and in all three instances they said I needed to pay for support. I am hoping someone will have some tips for my other thread about the USB-UIRT.

I don't have my UMC-1 yet but I just went to Harmony and added it. I tried Emotiva and put in UMC-1 and it added it. I then deleted it and I hit Emotiva Audio on the drop down and then put in UMC-1 and a screen came up saying that was not available but the Emotiva UMC-1 was. Not sure if it's right or all there without a way to test.

I uploaded the file from Logitech for the umc-1 into my profile and all the buttons seemed to match up. I haven't used all the functions yet, but power, menu and most of the normal buttons did work. I will have more time to play with it on Tuesday.
