It seems most of you who are chiming in have bookshelf speakers being powered by the UPA-1, which I'm guessing you also have some kind of crossover in place. Any owners running towers that can comment on bass and dynamics?? Running Polk RTI a9's. For two channel I'm actually at 2.1 utilizing a Velo 4000 DLR. I have the polks crosseed over at 50. Bass extension is great. Very detailed and not muddy.

I am using RTi10s (little brother to the A9s) towers. I use "direct" mode for stereo, and there is more "slam" in the dual 7" woofers compared to the UPA-2. no knock on the UPA-2, it was a larger jump in the bass dept going from the Denon to the UPA-2 than the "2" to the "1s". Now, when watching movies, I have a sub and the Polks are crossed at 80.

Guess I'll just have to wait for an XPA-2 owner to directly compare the bass dept. as that's one of the XPA-2's greatest strong points Either way, sounds like it's a great amp, I think I'll just save for some XPA-1's

Got my UPA-1's one day earlier than expected. First impression is very good. Natural, detailed and good dynamic. Here are my babies. Waiting on my Magnepan 1.7s, those look nice stacked. Probably start with 2 of these soon and slowly add 3 more to complete my 5.1 as my other components roll in.

Hi, i can't wait to hear your feedback.I have the UPA 2 along with the 6.2's ,and a sub set at 80 hz. I want to make a move on the UPA mono blocks, but the UPA 2 sounds great.Would like to know if the extra slam is worth it.I really just use this system for two channel. Also thinking about the MMG'S.Look forward to your full review. Later,Clyde

Glad to hear you all are enjoying the UPA-1. Unfortunately, I was unable to take advantage of the pre-order price. But can anyone tell me if they are $299 if you buy more than one?

I thought they said if you buy 2 or more each are $299. Thats what they said earlier. Not one for 329 then each for 299. You might want to call them.

When I called they said no to the 299, the owner 'changed his mind'

When I called they said no to the 299, the owner 'changed his mind' Yeah; when I ordered the two I had to ask for the $299 and she had to check. It's not stated on the product page. I was happy just to get the one at $299.

It's too bad they took the thread down because I'm confident Dann said you would be paying 299 when ordered 2 or more. Not that it makes a big difference though..

I'm driving my channels with my mps-1 and onkyo tx-nr3007 right now, have a 9.2 setup, i am swapping my onkyo out for a pr-sc5507 preamp, and most likely driving the rear channels (erd-1s) with a xpa-5.
Would the UPA-1 be a upgrade from the channels in the mps-1 and xpa-5? My 5 front channels will consist of JTR Quintuple 8 for LCR and JTR Triple 8 for Front wides. They are rated for pro amp use, but i want to stick with a brand like emotiva that i trust. XPA-1's are out of question at the moment, unless they can cut me a big discount for 5.

Hi, if my memory didn't fail me, i remember them saying because of the price increase in material, the price for upa-1 would have to increase to $329, instead of what they had said before the pre-order. And they said, they will offer a special price of $279 if you take the chance to order during the pre-order period. After the pre-order period, the price will go back to $329 and $299 if there is a promotion. Anyway, $299 for a 2nd upa-1 is already a great bargain because it's a UPA-1!!!

At $660 a pair, its an amazing bargain. Still less than the XPA-2.

At $660 a pair, its an amazing bargain. Still less than the XPA-2. It's 710 shipped, so yes, its less than an xpa-2, but bstock xpa-2 is 725 shipped.

Looking to buy 5 of these for my front stage, L/C/R and front wides. JTR Q8's LCR and T8's for front wides. Hope they work out well.
