My main concern is what Dann meant by 'Emo is lying to you again'. I followed up with him by personal email but he wouldn't elaborate. I don't know if he can't elaborate (some sort of separation contract) or if there just nothing there for him to say that wouldn't be untrue.

Doesn't make sense..Dann G was on the webcast, and few days later he is gone? He may have "snapped". I have twice this year so far myself.

...I imagine that Dann G was reminded of his post-contractual obligations when he left. He can't slander the company based on inside information he obtained while he was employed there. It could get him into big trouble.
So, if Dann G can't talk and Dan L won't talk, then the drama is over. Case closed.

Right on, bmowis. It's just too bad it's played out like this. Especially the mass emails.

The AVS forum is a hoot. They appear to see this as nothing more than an opportunity to slam Emotiva and its fans... ironic since whats worse a bunch of "fanboys" or the folks that waste time ripping said "fanboys?"
I'm willing to give Dan L., Cathy, and crew some leeway here. I wasn't happy about the locked threads without any form of an explanation regarding Dann G.'s status. Sure, there was rampant speculation but if they had the time to lock the threads they could have said something like "Dann's status is that he's no longer employed by Emotiva, details forthcoming" and it would have shed a lot of light on things but, they were busy doing their best to do damage control and get the situation under control. Its always easy to sit back and play armchair crisis manager and cast a stone after everything has played out... so I will cut them some slack.
My biggest concern right now is that Emotiva, to me, represents a handful of incredibly remarkable traits:
1. Unparralled value and quality. 2. Excellent customer service. 3. Unmatched relationship to their clients.
#3 is the one that is what makes Emotiva customers "fans"... its a group effort from Big Dan, Cathy, and Lonnie... but Dann G. lead that charge. He was the one who communicated with forum members, calmed them down, teased us with upcoming products, and really was (as many have said) the "face" of Emotiva. Now that he is no longer with the company I think many of us are eager to see how Dan L. and Co. will replace the void left by the presence Dann gave the company.
It goes without saying, a fraction of the customer base is on this board, but the ones who are on this board are the ones they absolutely need to keep happy. They're the ones who are going to buy just about anything Emo puts out, defend them beyond the walls of this forum, and be the consumer "face" of the company. I think many of these us so-called "fanboys" got this rabid interest in Emo because of that direct link between the company and the customers, and now I'm afraid it'll be gone forever.

Unbelievable that this discussion has gone beyond the few facts that are actually known, which I remind is not much. We have no idea what happened and probably never will. To my knowledge I have not been affected by this, my LMC-1/USP-1/ERC-1 & XPA-5 continue to work the same now as they did before this incident(trust me I just checked) ;D. I've checked my AMEX card statement and no unauthorized charges have mysteriously appeared, and even if they did AMEX has a charge dispute process in place that protects me. If you were to judge your best friend for his/her actions over their lifetime you wouldn't be best friends. So come on people, LIGHTEN UP, this isn't the AVS Forum, we do have a life!!! So get back to ENJOYING your home theater.

Look - Internet direct = way more "openness" than BM companies = some drama...
Nothing new - life goes on...
Emo - just get back to work...
1. Fix the remaining stuff in the UMC-1 (by end March). 2. Release the XMC-1 - relatively "bug free" (by September). 3. Release the XSP-1, XPR and the subs in 4Q 2010.
4. Most important - emphasize "quality" - the better the "quality", the less your "support" cost, and the more MONEY you make in 2010 - we want you to make decent money, so you can be in business for the LONG TERM - to support the stuff that we buy from you.

I will only post one time on this subject - I have sworn to someone that I would not reveal their personal emails to me to anyone else on any on-line forum.
However, I can say the following: ===================== Dann G. did NOT break-in to Emotiva. All customer info. is safe. Emotiva is NOT telling us the complete truth of the situation. The upper-ecehelon are in "bunker-mode" right now and are trying to put the best face on yet another debacle. And, I am *seriously* concerned about the long-term viability of the company. IMHO, they may not be around to honor their generous 5-year warranty.
Over and out,
-RW-

rlw,
Dude, you're playing with fire here, man. Stuff like this can get folks in trouble. If none of what you posted is true, this post and the resulting fallout could cost Emotiva a lot of business.
Please understand that there are some pretty profound implications to what you're saying right now, and nobody can verify your findings because you say you have been sworn to secrecy.

LMAO this reminds me of soap operas. As The forums Turn. Unless you can show PROOF that this company is in dire straits the you are only spreading FUD that they wont be around to honor their 5 year warranty. How gutless can you be to preface a post by saying "I promised not to share email blah blah blah" then go on to insinuate that crap about Emotiva? Show PROOF or you are nothing but a spineless *bleep*

^^In that case, it's time for someone within Emotiva to come clean on what the h*ll is going on. For Emotiva, Dann G. was their main spokesman and PR guy since he was so active on the forums. It'd be like the head of PR for Toyota saying "Toyota is lying to you". Would you not expect a very detailed response from Toyota, regardless of whether or not they HAD to respond to it?

I am sure that Dan L. will come out with a statement by the end of the day... If it's just a bunch of "everything is fine someone was just mad", then I don't want to bother reading it. When an employee trusted by many on this forum get this kind of information sent to them, they aren't going to just write it off as "an angry employee". I realize they can't say everything, but if they want to keep their credability intact, they better make it good....

You know what they say there are 3 sides to every story, Big Dan's, Dann G,s and the truth. Just because you talked to Dann G. doesn't mean you know the whole story. And being an employer, if I fire an employee and they enter my premises after termination whether to get pictures of loved ones or medication or what ever, they are in fact breaking in. And maybe your long term forcast of the future of Emotiva is not advisable based on a conversation with a former employee.

I can't imagine just what exactly Emo is supposed to come out & say now.
