I am sure that Dan L. will come out with a statement by the end of the day... If it's just a bunch of "everything is fine someone was just mad", then I don't want to bother reading it. When an employee trusted by many on this forum get this kind of information sent to them, they aren't going to just write it off as "an angry employee". I realize they can't say everything, but if they want to keep their credability intact, they better make it good.... Fair Enough...

Well, rlw won't answer, because he's only posting once. And, he is authority, just look at all the Emo stuff he has in his inventory. Sorry rlw, there are many sides to all stories, and your post is moot. Then again, this whole thread is moot. And here is a sentence containing the word moot for no reason. Back to my coffee!

None of us know the real story behind all of this. Yes, some have spoken to Dann and while there is no reason to doubt what he says, you have to remember that is only ONE side of the story. Even if what he says is the truth, you don't know what is not being said by him that might affect your perspective on things. I'm not saying Dann is right or wrong, only that he is just one party to this situation.
While it may be best for Emo to be "transparent" here, that is probably not the prudent thing for them to do in terms of legal considerations. They are involved in an employer/employee situation in which, as I mentioned before, there are attorneys hovering around just waiting to swoop in and use whatever they may say in public in a lawsuit against them. It doesn't matter if what they say is true or not, once you go to court you get a bunch of flaky jurors who love to award millions of dollars just because they feel like it, and there you go - Emo does indeed go out of business. Not because of anything going on business-wise, but because they made a statement in public that some attorney twisted into a huge judgment against them because of the way the whole legal system is in this country.
You may think Emo owes us an explanation about what Dann referred to as their lies, but since we are not privy to the whole picture and how it all fits together, it is none of our business. Emo may already have asked for their own attorney's advice about this and may have been advised to keep their mouths shut and fingers off the keyboard. Maybe, maybe not. We just don't know and it isn't for us to demand to know.

RLW, Even claiming to have any personal e-mails is disclosing pertinent information, as well as who they're from. As for your statement: "However, I can say the following" puts you into a very precarious situation, I highly doubt you witnessed first hand anything in this situation, so claiming anything factual that you don't know first-hand is close to crossing a line if not crossing it. Do you know the words: slander & libel? What you have is one side of a story, if that, so be careful what you quote. It sounds to me that there is a possibility that you are a link to publicizing a particular party's feelings.

I will only post one time on this subject - I have sworn to someone that I would not reveal their personal emails to me to anyone else on any on-line forum. However, I can say the following: ===================== Dann G. did NOT break-in to Emotiva. All customer info. is safe. Emotiva is NOT telling us the complete truth of the situation. The upper-ecehelon are in "bunker-mode" right now and are trying to put the best face on yet another debacle. And, I am *seriously* concerned about the long-term viability of the company. IMHO, they may not be around to honor their generous 5-year warranty. ^^In that case, it's time for someone within Emotiva to come clean on what the h*ll is going on. For Emotiva, Dann G. was their main spokesman and PR guy since he was so active on the forums. It'd be like the head of PR for Toyota saying "Toyota is lying to you". Would you not expect a very detailed response from Toyota, regardless of whether or not they HAD to respond to it? Transparency is the #1 way to keep your credability. Remember that. Happy rlw? In a matter of minutes you've caused mass hysteria. Well, in minutes Emotiva can fix it, or they can ignore it and let it get worse. If there really was a problem, wouldn't you like to know about it? And everyone felt that Dann G. was a pretty upstanding guy, so.....

You are painting a picture that Dan G was the only one harmed and he is an innocent victim in this. He may not have stormed the castle and broke in to steal company property, but regardless on his way out he screwed with company property and fired off a malicious email to all the customers AND potential customers. As much as we all liked him, that was about the most classless way you could end a company relationship. Think about it, I'm sure there are quite a few people here that work with their companies customers, what would happen if you did the same to your employer? No one will know exactly what happened, but it sounds like a private financial dispute turned public. These are trying times for many people, but to throw a public tempertantrum in front of the world and Emotiva's customers is ridiculous.

Almost as interesting as watching grass grow But was it as interesting watching Emo develop the UMC-1/LMC-2 (or Outlaw develop the 997)? ... In 2008, I applied "weed killer" to a portion of my lawn. By mistake, I used the "kill all" solution, instead of the "kill ONLY weeds" solution - stupid me... In 2009, I raked the area, put new soil, seeds, watered every day... got most of the area covered in grass now -- so, yes, it IS interesting watching grass grow... I have never "rooted" more for anything ... given that my wife kept reminding me of my "stupidity"... Now, back to the regularly scheduled programming (sorry, the DRAMA).

I don't think they should explain to stop the speculation. They should explain because Dann was a hard core defender of Emotiva. And he quickly turned and said they are lying.....as for it not being my business....WRONG!! Emotiva are the ones who have created this forum for their marketing....GOOD OR BAD...and when they publicly display themselves then its all up for discussion. This seems like AV123 all over again. But when it comes to HR issues the less said the better. I know that isn't always the best way but given the vulture attorneys hovering around and our flaky court system, you really can't say too much about employer/employee matters without risking a big lawsuit. A simple immediate post saying that Dann G is no longer with the company would have stopped quite a few of the posts, though the speculation would have continued. A simple statement immediately is the norm for most companies when something like this happens, and Emo's lack of response continues to show that they desperately need a PR firm handling there "issues". No comment/silence is the worst type of PR in the world and Emo is one of the companies that seems to follow this path. Details are not necessary, but a quick, short simple statement shows that things are still under control in a company.

Are you saying that isn't sufficient, or were you not aware of it? Despite this, the speculation continues. The question becomes, how much response is enough? Because no matter how much is disclosed, people want more and more. And then they speculate on what has already been said.

Should us customers be worried about our credit card information being stolen? It is interesting after stating there was a breakin (especially computer side), there has been no correspondance from Emo regarding personal information of Emo customers. Either this information, names, addresses, phone numbers and the credita cards/pins was compromised or it wasn't. As a matter of interest, there is absolutely no "privacy" information statement/policy on the Emo site...which is actually astounding in the days of identity/credit theft!!!!!!

The following has nothing to do with the Emo/Dann G. dust-up:
FYI, I owned TWO MMC-1s and got rid of them. Way too many problems with the units and they had a horrible sibilance - fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I have been on the UMC-1 waiting list for 2 years, since the very first day. And, my system is way better than 99% of what I see posted here. Those are facts.
You fan-boys can go pound sand...That's an opinion.
