...It's been deleted, but check out Dan L's new post in the 'News' section.
Dan Gunn is in fact no longer employed at Emotiva.

So the question is this...
What will all of those who claimed that DannG could do no wrong every time he posted anything on the forum, now say about his email comment?
What should we make of the statement that Emotiva is lying AGAIN to us?
I suppose it's a rhetorical question because I'm sure this thread will be locked/deleted soon.

Let's not get into conspiracy theories about what we should make of any of this. Point is, Dann G is gone. He will be missed, but whatever transpired is an internal Emo thing.
My best wishes to Dann for his future and to Emotiva for theirs. I look forward to more great products!

The only question I have is why you keep posting these asinine comments here. And can everyone stop littering the pre/pro section with these stupid threads? You have your reason for what happened. Move on.

I posted this here for visabilty, since this is where the original thread was. I was trying to redirect traffic to the appropriate place - the Announcements section.

Well... I hope we will get fed information the way dann would keep us in the loop on future product info. Sad to see dann go, didn't know him well but always enjoyed his posts. I hope the emo braintrust will continue on with a direct channel between the HQ and the fan base.

Then again, don't bother explaining. Just get back to adding a +1 to every other thread.

I think Big Dan's post about Dan's resignation is sufficient. We don't know the real story behind all of this and all that is on this board now apart from what Dan wrote is merely speculation. Emotive doesn't owe us anything in the way of explanations since as I said, we don't know the whole story and what is better left unsaid or kept confidential. Those who say Emo should explain things so that we stop speculating - yeah, right. No matter what they say, that isn't going to end the speculating because either people will think they are lying or trying to cover up something, or else they will want more, or else they will apply their own judgments to it and it is none of our business.
I wish *bleep* well and also remain a fan of Emotiva.

And he quickly turned and said they are lying.....as for it not being my business....WRONG!! Emotiva are the ones who have created this forum for their marketing....GOOD OR BAD...and when they publicly display themselves then its all up for discussion. This seems like AV123 all over again.

I know that isn't always the best way but given the vulture attorneys hovering around and our flaky court system, you really can't say too much about employer/employee matters without risking a big lawsuit.

I'll only say one thing on the matter. I understand hiring\firing and employment is an internal Emotiva matter and they don't owe anyone an explanation for what goes on, personell wise, at Emo HQ. HOWEVER, because their system was comprised and unauthorized messages were sent out to customers\prospective customers from a former employee more explanation is needed.
Though none of us need to know what exactly precipitated the employment decision regarding Dann G., the fact is that he reached out to all of us through AUTHORIZED Emotiva channels and impugned the honesty of the company. However Emotiva decides to handle the situation is up to them, of course, but the fact remains that internet direct companies survive off of freedom of information and transparency. Though Big Dan is right that they don't owe us anything, when a things fall out to such a degree that employees are utilizing official communication channels to call the company's honesty into question, more explanation is required than "please excuse the disruption" (note that I do not believe that Emotiva's honesty\ integrity is anything less than stellar, but I believe that efforts must be made to re-affirm that honesty when it is publicly called out by a current\former employee).
To summarize, its obviously up to Emo how to handle the situation, but when an employee who has been integral to the PR aspect of the company says that customers are being lied to, I don't think I am the only one who would like a more thorough explanation.

Here's whats NOT adding up about this weirdness: Proboards.com is a remotely hosted bulletin board system. Per their Wikipedia page, they have 71 servers that host about 3,000,000 bulletin boards. Therefore, there couldn't have been a PHYSICAL break-in that has to do with the message board, simply because the message board is stored at proboards.com, not on an Emotiva server. Which begs the question - what was it that Dann G. was attempting to recover, and why would it be associated with a website that's hosted completely separately from Emotiva? I've worked in a small (really small - 10-15 employees) IT business in the past, and we provided IT support for a number of other, equally small businesses. The lines between personal and company properly were often blurred, and usually not in favor of the employees. New hires were, for instance, supposed to bring in their own computers for the first few months of employment. Emotiva is obviously a larger company, with much higher revenues than the humble IT biz I was working for, but I can't help but wonder if there's more to this ownership dispute than meets the eye. Unrelatedly - deleting threads is bad mojo. I can understand locking threads. I can understand posting an announcement that further discussion of a given topic will not be tolerated (although it strikes me as heavy-handed). But making it seem like entire threads of discussion never existed is not cool. Then again.. I wonder if I would be here posting if my UMC-1 always locked onto an audio stream as opposed to just most of the time

Should us customers be worried about our credit card information being stolen?

We really have no idea and the fact that Dann G, if that was even his email said Emotiva is lying to you again. If there was a break on the forums, how would we know that was even him sending it? Isnt it possible that someone was making an attempt to sabotage Emotiva and taking a stab at them via sending a mass email? Not sure but either way how stupid.

Should us customers be worried about our credit card information being stolen? This is almost certainly about Dann and not some unknown hacker. Dann would never do anything dishonest like compromise credit card information.
