Hi Dan,
You mentioned in the same podcast that announced the latest XMC-1 that you would release a white paper on Tact.
Is there any chance we could see that now? I'm sure many others looking to buy the XMC-1 would be interested too.
Kind regards, Dave.

It was clearly promised. We would definitely like to be able to review it before the XMC-1 is released. Dan / Lonnie, can someone respond:
a) Will you make good on the promise to release the white paper b) Will you not be able to fulfill that promise, any why.
Thanx

I'm curious...aside from it being promised and people being curious...what would people "see" in it that would sway their opinion from "not buying" to "buying" (or vice versa)? I've read of few of these in the past, and they didn't sway my opinion to buy or not buy.
So...help me understand...what are you looking to learn?
Thanks,
Mark

White paper? For what? I mean really? I've read (browsed) a couple and they are boring and meaningless to me, had nothing to do with my buying decisions and I'll bet its the same for most people. Geez, Dave, I know its just my opinion and I should just keep it to myself....... But it almost seems like guys sit around and think some odd thing to post about. Here's a lttle bit to wet yer whistle :-) :-) www.tactlab.com/AutomaticRC/automaticRC.html

So what are you going to do? Read it and decide from that whether you want to buy the XMC-1 based on a white paper about TACT? And here you are demanding it? They owe you/me/us nothing..... Jamrock, you are one strange dude sometimes.... WTF......

Years ago, I used white papers but I preferred the lemon flavored ones when I could find them. The dog always ate my white papers so I had nothing to turn in the next day in class. Oops, no offense to your avatar.. The way I look at it - the bottom line is going to be how does the gear sound because it can have the most wonderful explanation on paper and sound horrible, or vice versa. And no one is going to accept, "but on paper it is supposed to be terrific." That said, I know some folks like to read the technical stuff so more power to them. Me, I'm just waiting for the XMC-1 like I decided I would not too long ago.. but now, also the XSP-1.. and the XDA-2. Next audio show I am keeping my eyes closed. Now I'm expecting a post from Big Dan or Lonnie soon telling us that they would have posted the white papers but the dog ate them. ;D

maybe not the white paper but at lease a write up on the TACT version dat will be implemented in the XMC. Perhaps most us are still sceptical that a full version of TACT can be implemented at this price range so need assurance... we will keep nagging abt this till the official specs are released.. but doesnt mean EMO has to comply with this request.. its just us moaning..

Dan said he would release it so I'm just asking if we can see it. I'm sure you have read many of my posts and will know I don't whinge and whine. Whilst respecting your opinion I stand by my original post. Cheers, Dave.

But...what specific information would you need to see to convince you it was done to your satisfaction?
Personally, I just don't "get" people needing to see a "white paper". Heck, I bought a whole stack of it at Staples yesterday, and it's pretty uninformative in the state it is now. It takes information on those blank pages to make it meaningful.
I think if people could be specific about what info they need, perhaps Emotiva might be forthcoming on those items, independent of whether they publish a "white paper" or not (or they might at least include that specific info in a white paper should they choose to publish it...).

What does the full implementation of Tact go for now? And you really think we will get that version for $1500? What kind of business sense is that?

We need to know what version of TacT XMC-1 gets, if there any improvements over the release in TCS that is what, five years old now? Would anyone be interested if the XMC came with five year old Audyssey? Hell no. We need to know if the TacT technology is keeping pace with what else is out there. We need specifics on what get's included in XMC-1. I am not saying it requires a white-paper, but that would be a perfectly acceptable way to do it. FWIW, I find white papers incredibly informative. If -reading- a technical paper is too hard for some of you, I am sure there will be a pod cast eventually to explain in easy to understand words.

I'm not referring to any one post in particular, but the demanding tone of some of the statements is unlikely to get you what you want.
And, as Mark said, even if you got what you want, it's questionable whether that will affect the purchase decision. As we know from the DAC discussions in other threads, specs are nice to know but the actual performance is determined as much by the implementation as the ingredients. In order to know for sure, we'll need to get our hands and ears on a production XMC-1. Patience, my son.

Now I'm expecting a post from Big Dan or Lonnie soon telling us that they would have posted the white papers but the dog ate them. ;D Exactly!!!! Lots of sports teams have had a great lineup on paper but couldn't or didn't perform on the field!! For me, white papers are nice to read and many times very informative. BUT actual performance is obviously what matters, not what the white paper says. My thought is that we'll hear from the first run of XMC users about their performance and the rest of us will base our buying decisions off those first reports, or not!! I'm not interested in being one of the first. I want to hear what the performace is like first. Yes, I am somewhat skeptical because of my previous personal experience with Emo processors (both the LMC & UMC) and I am proud of it and sticking to my position........ ;D But I do love their amps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
