I am going to wait and read the reviews on here once the unit is delivered and ppl have it in there system before I get excited. My UMC with the last update is performing incredibly well. I was on the first order list for the UMC and have had few issues over the years.

Well if you're not on the waiting list I don't think you'll have much of a choice, there should be plenty of XMC reviews by the time is readily available. There's a new pic in the FestPics thread, it's quite 'Bluetiful'!

Dan,
all very teasing. For the upgrade from UMC-1 (Gen2)
will that include just the XMC-1 or is it going to include the RMC-1?
or will the purchase of the XMC-1 include a upgrade cert for the RMC-1?

It's exciting to see some progress. I am hoping I can replace my 5508 with the XMC-1.

Thought you might like this.. Absolutely PERFECT! I love the fact the video input information is displayed including the Chroma subsampling. I take it the video section can pass RGB unmolested right? That's very important to me as I like to do colour space conversion in my PC playback and out RGB as TV LUT sucks with my current display. I wonder if we will ever see the day where we can get ahold of video content without bloody chroma subsampling less home videos on certain prosumer gear. I know Blu-ray/H.264 can do it but I have yet to see any content in High 4:4:4 Profile.

Maybe when a 4K standard is set, but I have my doubts. 4:4:4 would be nice, but when there's a storage or bandwidth limit, there's always a compromise. Personally I do not think 4:2:0 is really that bad and was designed based on the fact that our eye's "color" resolution is not nearly as good as our "luminance" resolution. Given the option between 4:4:4 sampling and a wider+higher resolution color gamut, I'd take the color gamut.

Solidstate I think you just revealed to me why 1080p blu-rays looked very different from proper 1080p photographs. Chroma subsampling! Thanks!

Is this an old rendering of the back with the composite connections? I thought the legacy connections were not going to be included.

Reg, I clicked on your picture link, and I don't see any composite video connections, only video connections on the XMC-1 is HDMI. You are correct there will be no legacy "VIDEO" connections. Are you referring to the analog audio connections?

I'd still like to know if that "40 Watts Max" is accurate.
