Let's try and keep the personal remarks to a minimum. You can be dissatisfied with the delays, but no need to call anyone names as a result. Out of curiosity, what name calling are we talking about? I am curious as well. Were you referring to dude? In no way was that meant as an offense. Please understand, there has been zero name calling or disrespect of any sort.

Let's try and keep the personal remarks to a minimum. You can be dissatisfied with the delays, but no need to call anyone names as a result. I also don´t see any name calling here. Perhaps there wouldn´t be so much dissatisfaction if you would handle the situation differently? For example personally I don´t get it why one the hand resources are spent for pretty videos and an all new XMC-1 webpage but on the other hand Dans post about HDMI 2.0 as reason for the delay is still uncorrected pinned at the top of this board. This causes confusion... There were also polls here, e.g. from Keith, what the user would like to see in the XMC-1. A lot of suggestions were made but we never got an answer if any of those suggestions will be implemented. A lot of questions were asked about features and specific facts regarding the XMC-1, many didn´t get an answer. Sorry to say that and really no offence meant but sometimes I get the feeling that communication and marketing are getting mixed up a little bit or confused with each other. Personally I would love to see more communication and less marketing. The bold statements which are made "beyond expectations", "the promise fulfilled", "modular design" in contrast to the hard facts (delay, delay, reason for delay not true, clearly NOT a real modular design from the published pictures so far, etc. ...) don´t make it any better. Well now you can blame and ignore me or take my post the way it is meant, as direct but constructive criticism which pehaps is worth to think about for a few minutes. BR Fabian

Well Emotiva might not have answered every single question on this forum but they certainly listen to what people would like to see implemented on, in this case, the XMC-1. We now will get an XMC-1 with two HDMI outputs. And, although not formally HDMI 2.0 compliant, a HDMI video chipset with very advanced features in supporting all kind of video formats currently available. Looking at the price and feature set of the XMC 1 will be a very interesting pre-processor. For instance compared to the new ARCAM AV950 pre-processor it is from a technology point miles ahead.

I have to disagree here, at this point in the XMC-1's cycle I think marketing the product and release should be a top priority, and something Andrew was presumably hired to do. I like the promotional video and think it's more important (at this point) than answering every question that comes up in the forum. Though I'd like to hear the answers too, their market is much larger than those of us here in The Lounge and this close to release they do need to be getting the word out (and of course getting the product ready to go). I'm not sure I know who was calling names and maybe the thread titles could be fixed, but I do think their priorities seem correct.

I am not talking about now but about the past months / years.
Yes the market is much larger than the lounge - but also in reality the XMC-1 is not a mass market product. I am active in quite a few more hifi and homecinema boards (where imo the target audience is located) and Emotiva is getting bashed pretty hard there ATM - especially for the XMC-1. Not for the product itself, which isn´t out and can´t be judged so far but for the things I mentioned. I doubt that this is in their interest or that they don´t care - or can afford to not care. No company could.
Regarding the 2 HDMI outputs I am not really sure that this was listening or a bare necessity - even entry level receivers are starting to get dual HDMI outputs nowadays.

I assumed his post was in regard to relatively new posts in the thread, not posts from several days ago. Maybe I am mistaken, but I would still like to know what he was referring to. Of course I agree name calling should be eliminated, but I just wasn't sure what the name calling was that went above and beyond the usual that occurs.

Some could take offence at being called 'Dude' ; not me ; word just has negative connotations considering who may be on the end of the description ; a female member as one example ; that was assumed as 100% not the case ;)And of course there was that old chestnut about praetorian guards once again that has multiple offence capability and never fails to get old Andrew may just be a bit proactive nipping things in the bud so to speak.. Anyway it served its purpose as a circuit breaker as drwily has made abundantly clear what he meant ; all good

That makes more sense that "dude," especially considering the folks at Emo seem to be fans of The Big Lebowski

i heard it, saw it, touched it and almost spilled coffee on it. don't tell dan, lonnie, nick, kathy, shirley, napoleon or any body else that. i heard the xmc in the stealth display and the dirac processing in the dirac demonstration room. i have seen the level of functionality that is truly astounding. the product is exceptional. at 1999 it is a bargain and i would have to save for a while but i would still buy it. for friends and family at 1499 it is a real bargain. for those of you who are still holding 40% cards, at 1199 the product is an absolute steal. i for one am glad they have taken the time to design and build a product like this. as for the price changes.....they do not bother me. i expect changes like this over 3 to 4 years since no business can really predict cost for anything that far in advance. no-one has been ripped off since no-one has spent a dime of their own money for it. true, setting price points and changing them multiple times doesn't help one's reputation in the public eye but no-one has been defrauded. so.... i am anxiously waiting it's arrival and i will be thrilled to put in the system tchaik................ btw......those who disagree with this position have made their opinions well known on the other thread, so if you have something truly new to add, knock yourself out. otherwise i would rather hear the positive voices from the forum. just a little reminder as to what this post was all about, here are my original comments. i have not changed my mind since i created the thread. in fact, i might even consider the xmc-1 substantially underpriced. don't tell big dan that though. tchaik.........

I think the XMC will be a great product. I look forward to it...whenever it is ready. Some people insist on giving Big Dan advice on how to run his business and what to say and not say. Frankly, that is not their call. And if they really do not like what he does, then move on. Really...that is not a fanboy comment..it is a reality check for some to consider. Right?
You know who you are, so I will not call you out. But, if you ask in public you will force me to not deny you. So, be careful! If you ask in public...

Well, I used to be quite obtuse but lost about 35 lbs last year. Folks don't call me so many names recently, except for nut. Futha more: Perhaps the offensive word/post was already deleted. Sometimes a mod/admin will simply remove what they don't like. I actually have seen Andrew use the word "dude" in a post here. I don't find that offensive at all. To me it is a very old term used briefly from the late 50's just like wearing a baseball hat sideways. These were both brief and perhaps regional and never caught on for long. They have both resurfaced in the modern era (Ken Griffey, Jr. probably thought he invented that cool sideways baseball cap look ). When someone calls me dude in the forum it's no problem at all but I do instinctively guess they are much younger than me (like under 40-50 or so, ).

Chuckienut, when Big Dan calls you "Dude" should we add 40-50 years to his age to find out just how old you are? Let me see, Big Dan just recently celebrated his 60th birthday... that would make you 100-110 years old! Hmmm, I knew you were an old fart but who would have guessed your are that ancient. I guess I will have to start showing you more respect. Now we know why you take so much FOCUS FACTOR. LOL Good night, old wise one.
