My XMC-1 arrived today.UPS with no signature required.Just happened to be home, but kind of scary to think it could have sat outside on my front porch all day!My Krell loving buddy checked out Emo website and now insists on coming by to help me hook everything up.He has very high end tastes and equipment so it should be interesting to say the least.

Because of their very generous 60 day advanced exchange policies, I have had multiple Sony VW1000ES 4k projectors delivered to my house from Sony. Never a signature required. Totally crazy.

Oh for heavens sake, just unpack it, plug it in and tell us how it sounds straight out of the box. That's what I did with my UMC-20 and it sounded fantastic, no setting up, just plug the interconnects and power cord in, turn the sucker on and listen. Cheers Gary

You mean "blue glow on you" as with these dudes?: Problem is, these men in blue could steal the show... Sorry... Not trying to hi-jack the thread... Just couldn't resist "da blue". Please carry on, and have fun with the XMC-1. I'm jealous.

The no signature delivery is crazy. Get the fedex and UPS apps and track expensive deliveries. Have them held or reschedule delivery times for a small fee. Enjoy your new prepro.

The no signature delivery is crazy. Yep. This is going to come back and bite a few people VERY badly. No signature on $1K and $2K equipment? Crazy. As Forest would say, "Stupid is as stupid does...".

Mine arrived yesterday afternoon, finished installing it around 10 last night. It's taller than the UMC-1 so I had to move/adjust some components to make it fit the way I wanted. I only programmed the DVD, DirecTV, and PS3 and then just enough to get them on-line. After setting the speaker sizes, distances, and levels it was time to listen . . . . .
WOW Right out of the box with no adjustments or EQ it sounds fantastic, considerably different than the UMC-1 I replaced. I reset the SVS sub amp back to default as well for now. Put on some Chris Botti to check separation and background - stunning. Velvet flat background, very clear isolation of instruments and tonal quality. I can't imaging what it will be once I do some equalizing.
There is a small learning curve with the menu system but once you find everything it really is pretty intuitive. I did not try streaming audio/video from my PC media server through the PS3 or DVD player as I did with the UMC-1 but I will work through that this weekend. I use a wired LAN, not Wi-Fi, by the way.

While I agree it should be an option, I hate when a signature is required--it has cost me countless failed deliveries over the years. There's virtually no chance a package would be stolen the way our house is situated. It may be a good idea to remove the company name and identifying markings from the outer box.

RG I had the same feeling sauron. All I could think was damn, imagine how it will be once we put Dirac through its paces. Got my levels and speaker sizes set as well. I'm used to setting the volume to reference 0, then playing a 75-80db tone and adjusting each speaker with a sound meter. The XMC appears to have a low, medium, and high level test tone that works independant of the main volume. Used the medium level tone and the speaker levels sound great. Did you see how to access the 11 band EQ for each channel? I found a few tone adjustments but not the fine tuning for each band. Man, I wish I was home right now. -TK

Man, I wish I was home right now. -TK Don't worry, a few of us are there now and we'll have it all dialed in by the time you get here ... but we've pretty much cleaned out the fridge and the pantry, you better stop at the store on the way home.

I'll be getting into the details of setup this weekend for sure. My Man Cave is not the most music-friendly space acoustically speaking. Ceiling is old pressed tin tiles and only 7'8", hardwood floor, dry-stacked flagstone walls, overstuffed leather chairs and sectional, and oriental area rugs. Dark too. Oh, and a big curved bar. I did try the test tones just to see what they were but that's all. I'll try your suggestion on setting using the medium tone as the whole room is only 800 sqft. RG

Yeah, I think the medium tone was around 75db which was fine to get them all balanced to the same level. I still don't understand exactly how that tone relates to the main volume but I guess it doesn't really matter--so long as you get used to what the volume number means in your setup.

They were sent Signature Required, as my UPS status says: "! A signature is required for package delivery" in the email from UPS. Yet they rang the doorbell and ran for it. They are effectively cheating Emotiva out of money as it costs around $3.00 each for this option from my recollection. Doug
