Yeah, that is what I have seen but it is unfortunate. The current model used with UV titles included with bluray discs already accounts for devices that are only capable of lower quality. One can use the best copy they have (HD is what is included with blurays) or a lower quality copy is also available for phones, iPads or where bandwidth will prevent reliable playback of the better quality copy. This model could have easily been extended to UHD discs including a UHD digital copy with lower quality (HD and SD) available as needed. The current policy of a UHD disc getting an HD digital copy seems like a rather blatant attempt to sell 2 UHD copies of the same movie. I never use the digital copies. But that's just me. I don't watch stuff on the small screens. My kids do use it.

My problem with the new format is not the players but content packaging. The UHD titles I've seen so far include a UHD disc but only an HD digital copy (why?!) and no 3D Bluray. 3D, when available, will remain a separate premium SKU. Someone who wants a UHD disc, a UHD digital copy and a 3D copy would easily spend over $90. I'll probably stick to 3D discs for the near future and buy UHD as a digital copy where available. 3D seems to be heading downhill. Vizio no longer makes 3D TVs and Samsung is dropping 3D. I feel for those people that are into 3D, though.

My signature hasn't been updated since I've setup my office(now updated), which is where I tend to listen to CD's while doing the bills and what have you. Gotcha. But when you DID have it why did you? You had the xda-1 so the DAC was redundant. Any cheap CD player will get you the same result. So why the erc-1 I'm comparing the same reason to have an Oppo. Built like a tank. Quick load etc. Actually the XDA-1 wasn't redundant at the time as I needed it for the optical output from a FireTV. The ERC-1's analog outputs were going straight to an input on the NAD pre-amp. I do agree that any cheap CD player would've sufficed if using a DAC.

I stand corrected. Go about your business. Sorry
