You cannot play the 93 into the USP-1 without the analog 2 channel out. I play my sacd in my 83 to my USP-1 . I like my music in two channel when listening to audio only. That is why I will keep my 83.

If that is correct, there is no reason you couldn't do that for your SACD listening.

Yes, it has a down-mix analog 2-channel mode.
Anyone know the difference between the BDP-93 and BDP-95?

There is a rumor going around that the 93 cannot be hardware modified for all region as the 83 can . If this is true I cannot use the 93. Does anyone know if the 93 can be modified for all region?

Talked to a oppo rep last Monday. The 95 is gonna be completely different from the SE. Different outputs, power supply, beefed up transport & beefed up chassis to control resonance. No similarities to the SE. Totally built from the ground up...from scratch he said. But he was mum on the dac...and price. Said it should come out by spring of next year.

Wanna bet you can only measure the difference, but not able to see or hear it?

Anyone know the difference between the BDP-93 and BDP-95? Where'd you hear of the latter? Oppo people have been releasing some select quotes on Twitter. No specs yet though. I was wondering if anyone had any broad ideas of what the 95 will be. Trying to decide if I spring for the 93 or wait for the 95. Seems to me that every time I buy a model, they release a successor not more than 3 months later!

I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but I will say that I signed up a while ago for info on the 93. I got my email Thursday that it was ready for pre-order and I immediately signed up. It looks to be shipped on Monday and so I'll probably receive it after Thanksgiving. Doesn't matter, I'm on call the whole weekend so even if I got it earlier it'd be sitting in a box until the next weekend anyway.
I anxiously await my first Oppo product and with their legendary customer service, I hope to be happy.
I also hope the video plays nice with the UMC-1....we'll see.

By June 2011, both the BDP-95 & the XMC-1 should be bug free and sitting acrosss from my viewing couch. Pretty!

Those who had the 83 with the UMC, when you watch a Bluray movie do you set the UMC video setup to pass thru, so basically you are using the video processor of the 83 and not the UMC video processor.
Also how does this work with your TV, don't you have a video processor in your TV as well.
Just trying to understand some info here. Thanks jim

The BDP-83 is set to 1080p so it does upscaling of DVDs. The display receives the 1080p res so is not required to scale. I use a cal bluray (included with the 83) to calibrate the display for brightness, contrast, sharpness etc. Result, excellent PQ. Dave.
