Can someone point me to where the price of the XMC went from "around $1,000", as stated at Emofest, to $3,000? After reading some of the post I'm expecting to hear that "Johny and the Mothers are playing at the Savoy" at some point. Ha ha ha! Excellent reference. ("Stompin' At The Savoy") "I know this grapevine". ;D Thanks for the help on the reference... it's been a while since I saw the movie and I don't have it with me right now to check.

It seems someone was crying wolf. None are listed as d/c'd any longer. Doesn't matter to me though, I've got mine. As for crosstalk, I don't hear it so it won't concern me. I'd rather spend more on speakers or source material than get 20db better crosstalk.

So, nobody sees a connection between these points: 1) amps discontinued 2) original XMC is now a different high end prepro, likely in $3000 range 3) Jade buys out Sherbourn Best case scenario: Emo becomes low end of company, pay plenty more to get high end audio. Worst case: Emo disappears and Dan is back to "normal" distribution methods with 75% markup, like Onkyo, Denon, etc. This is also what Im thinking. The days of getting their good amps for low prices are probably about over. The prices are all ready way up! Something is obviously up! I wanna know what it is! I used to love Emotiva because it was the best bang for the buck but now prices going up on amps that are being discontinued? What the hell is going on here!!!!!

What is going on might be that you do not have all of the info. For starters, only one single amp is being discontinued. For another, it was about a month ago that an official announcement was made in a podcast(very informative at times, I recommend listening to them) that prices would be going up Jan 1, 2011.

I heard they are going up in the pod cast. They sure did go up. But the way everyone in this stupid thread is talking is that the u and x series amos are going away. Did you read thru the whole 6 pages? Someone stated they were both going away and said they heard it from Kathy I believe. I dont feel like going back thru it to be sure. Something is definately going on. If its true and both series amps are going away and the sherbourn aquisition going on. Is the end of the Emothva bang for your buck amos coming? It seems that way. People come to this site for their great prices and amps. and top notch customer service. So why cant someone at Emotiva chime in here and give us the scoop so we all can quit speculating. PLEASE?

Post #18: I spoke to Cathy again today, and she said not only is the UPA series discontinued (they have one more shipment coming in Feb) but the XPA is also done. Seems very strange to me considering she also said the replacment will not be out by the spring...but sometime closer to summer.

Thanks kse. By the way the latest podcast was useless in terms of info. It didnt mention anything about this situation. Im sure there are hundreds of us wanting to know whats really going on.

What was most likely meant i sthat some of the UPA and XPA series are being discontinued but not all of them.
Maybe like the UPA-5 and certainly some fo the XPA series as some time this year aren't the new XPR series meant to be coming out and replacing amps like the XPA-2 etc...etc... I have no idea whats going on but I think it's all still in-line with what Dan and Cathy have been saying all along.
Also price rise I think has been mentioned a few times of late that Emotiva would have to eventually pass on some of the increases. No suprises here either.
Folks, it's just business as usual...

If the xpr is replacing some xpa then the prices are goping to be really rising. I bet you all the xpr series will be over 1000 even for the xpr-2 is there ever is one. So thats what im getting at. We will no longer be able to come to Emotiva and get a good amp at a good price. They will now all be closer to alot of other companies prices. I think they will lose customers. Because their pricing wont be so attractive anymore. Alot of people that camt to emotiva came here for the great prices but they are going away. Even with the 100 added to the prices of tha amps. I no longer find the pricing as attractive as they used to be.

I didn't listen to the podcast but we've already had posts from Cathy and Dan that explained what is happening. They told us what is being discontinued. Also, we were informed a while ago that prices would be going up on the first of the year.
Now, I figure no matter how many more times Cathy and Dan post their responses here, there are still going to be people calling for them to be upfront and tell us what is going on. Even when they tell us what is going on, some folks don't believe it and keep asking for the scoop. So what is the point? No matter what they say, they can't win.
Next, some people seem amazed by the increases, some even insulted. Some act like they should have been reminded about the increases before they happened. If your passport expires or your drivers license expires and you get stopped because of it, do you think your excuse of "no one reminded me it was expiring" is going to do you any good? You knew it was going to happen so it was up to you to remember it. The Emo gear was on sale for a substantial length of time during the Christmas season, plenty of time for people to buy whatever they wanted at some very attractive prices. And now that the sale is over, something we were told was going to happen, some people get all bent out of shape over it.
There's just no pleasing everyone, but it is what it is.

Even with the increases, their prices are still better than a lot or most other companies. Although I have bought many new amps from Emo, I have also bought many many used Emo amps from here and Audiogon -- all of which have served me well!!! Used is still very good in most cases!!!! ;D ;D

It's fun to speculate, but one should realize it's speculation.
Speculating about the end of Emotiva, bashing their business model, and bashing the company is simply trolling.
Nothing is ever written in stone in a good business model, market forces may dictate changes, to which a small company is more readily able to adapt.

I called to order a UPA-7 today and I was told that not only are they sold out, but they are now discontinued!!! I'm very suprised to hear this. I was told by the girl that there would be a new product line out in the spring to summer, and that I could still order the XPA series...but the UPA series was DONE. DAMN!!! Happy New Year to y'all! Just a quick note to clear the confusion. The UPA-5 is discontinued. The UPA-7 will be back in stock late January. All of the other U series products are in stock and shipping! Have a great day and we wish you the best in 2011! Here's official word from Cathy this morning. The XPA series is fine as is the UPA except for the 5. I too would prefer a big announcement, but as others have mentioned, companies usually don't make big announcements about outgoing products.

I'm still waiting on where the price increase for the XMC came from. And I'm sure all these posters who "heard this" or "heard that" are going to repost and say "oops for jumping to conclusions" and admit to being wrong.

How much cross-talk have you measured in your amps? I havent physically measured it, I dont need to. If I have 2 channels playing in a seperate room, then the other 3-5 speakers shouldn't be singing along loud enough to wake someone from a sound sleep. But that gives you an idea of how bad it can be. This was specifically with a UPA-7(And 2 others were tested as well with the exact same issues, just to make sure it wasnt a defective product). How do you know that crosstalk wasn't coming from your processor?

Just a quick note to clear the confusion. The UPA-5 is discontinued. The UPA-7 will be back in stock late January. All of the other U series products are in stock and shipping! Have a great day and we wish you the best in 2011! I love a bit of speculation! Here I go: when you look at the competition multichannel poweramps, most are between 150-300 Watts / channel, so the $899 XPA-5 is on par for power and specs and just about the cheapest offering out there, so the bang for buck is unmatched. The UPA-5 was even cheaper @ $599 but the specs were not that impressive. A good reciever such as the new Yamaha 3000 can top this. The folks who bought cheaper AVR's that Emotiva targetted the UPA-5 to, are likely not willing to spend 600 bucks to add some juice. If Emotiva decides to improve the UPA-series, a bit more power would be in order, let's say 150 Watt/ch. This would be very close to the sepcs of the XPA-series. So these would need to be improved also, bringing it close to the XPR-series... IMO, Emotiva doesn't need three different lines of amps, two will do. Maybe the XPA-s would be replaced by a downsized XPR-series. Afterall, the fact that no XPA-7 could be made was a disadvantage to serve those folks who wanted just one poweramp and not an XPA-2 and XPA-5 together. An affordable class H-series with about 200- 250-300 Watt / channel would be nice... Just to bad for the UPA-1, I had some plans for it in the future. OT, someone here said we should not expect a new DAC in the next few years. Well, I like to point out that the competition (Rotel, Naim, Arcam) is releasing more and more network players, so I'd like to see Emotiva work on this, in addition to the XDA-1. NDA-1 and HPA-2 would be a very fine stereo combo: a network-DAC-pre and a H-class stereo poweramp with 300 Watt/ch. Happy New Year to all, may U live 2 C the dawn.

Per a post from Big Dan in another thread, the UPA-1 is NOT being discontinued.
