Guess where I was last night; Amazing 2.25 hours, I think Adam was lucky to be chosen by Brian and Roger, but equally I think Roger and Brian are lucky to have Adam. It just works, results in truly memorable performances, which I never thought possible after the loss of Freddie. If you get the chance you just have to go, if you are a Queen fan, don't even think about it, just do it. They were only scheduled for the one show in Sydney, which sold out in minutes, and I was lucky and manged to buy some good seats for the 2nd show. Don't think for one second think that Brian and Roger must be too old to be as great as they used to be. I think Adam, with his unlimited enthusiasm, has given them new life, they are truly electric, for over 2 hours. Cheers Gary Hate the fact that you didn’t give me any time to guess, 😁

Seen a lot of great shows over the years here in Wichita Ks. Loudest was metallica master of puppets tour opening for ozzy....left after o zzy started. Painfully loud. Best....Johnny Lang at the cottilian 10yrs ago he was on his lie to me tour. This place is old and built for sound and that was the most fun I've ever had at a live show. Seen him many times since and always great but that show moved me. Dick

Last night under moon and stars in beautiful Napa California, I saw what you might call a King Crimson cover band, doing KC’s music from their ‘80s albums: “Discipline”, “Beat”, and “Three of a Perfect Pair”. The line up is impressive: Adrian Belew (Frank Zappa, Talking Heads, David Bowie, King Crimson, … ), Tony Levin (John Lennon, King Crimson, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd … ) Steve Vai (Solo, Frank Zappa, Whitesnake, …), and Danny Carry (Tool, Adrian Belew …). So calling “Beat” a cover band is a bit of a misnomer, as two of them were in King Crimson during the original recording and touring of these albums, the lineup during that time was Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and Bill Bruford — and it’s the only time in KC’s history that the same lineup graced three albums. I saw this lineup during the original “Three of a Perfect Pair” tour in ‘84. Not a review so much, other than to say, if you like King Crimson’s music from this era, you should like the tour. The musicianship was incredible, I’m a huge fan of Tony Levin’s Bass and Chapman Stick playing (he also plays bass keyboard, and sings harmonies), last night he was great. Adrian Belew was also in good voice, you could tell he was nervous as he commented on it only being their second gig, and he genuinely hoped people would like it. His guitar and synth playing was also very good. Steve Vai started off a little stiff, but quickly warmed up, and his skilled playing did a credible job with Fripp’s parts, and some of his own touches. Danny Carry also did a nice job (and I love Bruford), and along with Levin, laid down some rhythms that I could only call ‘grooves’, a word I don’t use much with KC. Still the music is King Crimson, and ‘accessible’ isn’t one of their touchstones, you have to work at this. I’ll just add that the ‘Discipline’ album is one of my all time faves, IMO a prog masterpiece, if you like progressive rock and haven’t heard it, I’d give it a listen. The best moments from last nights show were from this album. Here’s the setlist

By the time I found out about the tour, which was about 5 days after they announced it, the Chicago show was sold, out so I bought tickets to the Madison Wisconsin show because Milwaukee was also sold out. Then my brother gave me tickets to the Chicago show for my birthday! Chicago is only 20 miles from me, Madison is five times farther less than twice the travel time due to Chicago's funny highway construction planning. I may go to both, not sure yet, the dates are the first Friday and Sunday of November. Really looking forward to this! Bruce, you want to go to a couple more?

Would love to go to a show with you Scott, but that may be a bit far, and in the middle of late season projects before ski season. Hope you enjoy!
