Jessica and her little Sis are out tonight to see New Kids on the Block and the Back Street Boys. Dan and I are sitting this one out, just as we did when Jess went to the concert in 2000 with her high school friends. Seems just like it was yesterday.

I still can't believe that these 2 bands are going to be playing at Fenway Park this year. It just doesn't seem right

not really sure if he is trying to be funny/ruffle feathers or he if is simply completely insane... I think he is insane, or off his meds. The show was awful. I wanted to get up and leave, but our seats were up front and I was afraid he would pick on me, like he did other guests. The media is complaining about his bashing, but that was just the tip of the iceberg. He ranted about things I have never heard anyone speak of ever! Dan thought we were going to see the funny guy from 30 Rock! It was obvious he did not have anyone writing any material for him Yes, he acts maniacal like he needs a mood stabilizer.

As for Grace Slick, I was a fan of her '60s music but in the mid-70s I saw her with Jefferson Starship and they were awful! It was the last time I tripped and it was a bad one because the music was so bad.

I just bought tickets to see The Go Gos and Berlin at the Pechanga resort in August. I love Teri Nunn's voice...

Just saw Drive By Truckers in NJ, they were good, but excruciatingly loud, to the point the sound was awful. Disappointing, I was hoping to like them. Govt. Mule is a great concert, pristine sound but, they don't do Texas enough.

U2 tonight at Vanderbilt Stadium Florence and the Machines are opening - can't wait Anyone else going to concerts this weekend? The stage and lighting were awesome. The sound was LOUD and the bass was so high, you could feel it pounding in your chest. It sounded better from the lot across the street, but a fun show to see and hear (with hearing protection). They had not performed live in Nashville since 1981 Great way to start the holiday weekend. Today and tomorrow it will be out to the pool! Have a Happy 4th!

We have recently been going to a very cool venue in Evanston, Illinois named SPACE. Capacity is somewhere around 300 people, so very intimate. A couple of weeks ago we saw Kaki King there and it was a great solo show. A couple days before that, on a whim and because the tickets were cheap, we saw a New York state band named Gandalf Murphy and the Grand Slambovian Circus of Dreams. They describe themselves as the Hillbilly Pink Floyd. The girlfriend and I were bowled over by their show. Americana mixed with rock, psychedelia, and 20 other genre's. Check them out if you get the chance.
We've also seen Jimmy Webb and Graham Parker there. It's a great venue. We also had the luck to see Godspeed You! Black Emperor at another Chicago venue this year. It's been a good year for concerts for us and there are more on the calendar.

I acquired very special tickets and surprised my wife yesterday with the big reveal. We're going to see Ottmar Leibert at the Majestic theater here in San Antonio this coming Thursday. I've seen Ottmar twice before and both shows did not disappoint. Once in Santa Fe when he still had hair and the other time here in San Antonio in 1995 Always play barefoot.... This will be ratherwife's first show. I landed some special tickets (:star light suite" first row balcony, private suite, own bathroom and bar ;D). The venue is old but the acoustics are superb. I can't wait... youtu.be/7dCMvZ4lBKI

Tonight we have tickets to Steely Dan, Katy Perry and Ted Nugent, all three acts I would like to see. It was a tough decision, but we gave the Ted Nugent tickets away, the kids are going to Katy Perry and Dan and I are going to Steely Dan.

My wife and I went to see Rodger Waters do "The Wall" in Pittsburgh, PA at the Consul Energy Center on July 3rd. Wow! What a show he put on. It was an audio/ video extravaganza to say the least.

Next up will be Lucinda Williams in August. We have to rely on the smaller clubs for shows here in Portland. When they built the civic center here in the mid-70s we got all kinds of acts. But, it seems a 7000 seat capacity isn't large enough anymore.
In the "old" days they all came here Tull, Boston, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, ZZ Top, Billy Joel, Frank Zappa and about a zillion more..... Now anything like this a we've got to go to Boston.

Has anyone here ever seen U2 live? I've heard they are amazing in concert! I'm going to see them here in Nashville this July. Apparently this is the first time they've played in Nashville since 1980, so I'm excited!!! I hate to admit it, but I'm almost a little more excited about their opening act....Florence & The Machine. Strange pairing but I can't wait ;D ;D ;D Never saw them live, but the 2011 25th Annual Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame concert I saw on TV had them performing with many artist such as Mick Jager, Fergie and Bruce Springsteen. This was by far the best concert I have ever saw on TV and U2 was very good. But overall I got to see the Who live and nothing ever since has even come close. They were great. This was years ago however.
