Im trying to build a good collection and would like to see what everyone says are some musy have blurays or non if not available and the reason why. Like effects, or story ect....

No Star Wars yet until September, but I'd definitely recommend The Hunt for Red October, Bourne Trilogy, Blade Runner and Star Trek.

ALso just ordered terminator salvation, the bourne trilogy, Star trek, and despicable me. I should get alien anthology in this week also.

mine are Hellboy 2, black hawk down, the hulk (ed norton) bourne Trilogy, pandorum (great soundtrack) 30 days of night, Riddick, New tron, Star Trek, LOTR.
those are a few that I think stand out.

Agree wholeheartedly with Apocalypse Now, Star Trek, Terminator Salvation and Tron -- all have great SQ/plenty of LFE and good PQ.

I will have many of what you all have mentioned bythe end of the week plus I have some allready. As for 2001. To me that was the most boring I have ween in my whole life. I will try to set thru it again and see if it gets better. I watched it and 2010 back to back. Not much dialog in 2001. I cant wait to watch aliens again. Its been years and I loved them back then

I think Casablanca has both a great story, and is very artfully filmed in black and white; there are definite subtle benefits to it in high definition (picture, not sound).

One of my all time favorite films. I'll add some more classics: The Maltese Falcon Psycho North By Northwest The Sound Of Music Gone With The Wind The Wizard Of Oz White Christmas The Day The Earth Stood Still (the original) The Bridge On The River Kwai The Sand Pebbles How The West Was Won The African Queen The Ten Commandments Not only great films, but they also show what Blu Ray is all about. Great transfers on all of them. |
