I agree with ron526......the room acoustics were not very good and this especially affected speakers with good bass output......the reverb against the concrete walls made many a speaker sound muddy.
I saw alot of people walk away from the Emo room quite impressed. Great move on Emotiva's part in attending this show.
As to competitors.........I did not see Outlaw Audio there and they had a big presence at the last Stereophile show a few years ago........interesting.....

I wasn't that impress with the Kef speakers at all, perhaps it was the amplification, but the again it was Class A Pass Mono amps 100 wpc a piece. I knew a few guys back a year or two who praised those same speaker Ref 203.2? Thinking back I wish I would have said something, as he is a living legend, and quite the genius, not that I'm qualified to call anyone the G word, but he sure is one..He look so inviting and with a warm smile. I missed the boat on that one  Dan Dan, I was not impressed with the KEF speakers either....never was. I guess that's just one more reason I never gave Andy any credence with all his "advice & knowledge". Speaking of which, since you don't live to far from me, maybe you'd like to check my sub some day. It will really make you think what the hell he was talking about. He never even heard it, yet he was quick to bash it by calling it inefficient, non-musical, and muddy. Talking with Zigfried was awe inspiring. The man is truly a genius. The theory, design, and applications that we discussed were so simple that it was brilliant. If I take on another project, it may very well be to build the speakers he had at the show. They are after all available complete or in kit form. The only criteria would be for me to have a room where I can place them in the optimal location. |
